  1. Little to suggest Gibby would use him in that role though...
  2. That picture is gross. Best of luck to Delabar. He was a good story and gave us a good year (which is more than Eric Thames can claim). Time to move on.
  3. I already posted this today... They got Chavez before they signed Happ or re-signed Estrada. If they don't trade for Chavez and either Happ or Estrada don't sign here, we could be going into the season with Sanchez and Floyd in our rotation with Hutch and Fausto Car-f***ing-mona as our 6th/7th guys. That would be a god awful position to be in....especially when we entered camp without knowing whether Sanchez could throw strikes as a starter, or if Floyd had anything left. If that's how the offseason played out - people would have the torches out, calling for Shatkin's head. Could they have waited for the Happ/Estrada thing to play out before trading for Chavez? We don't know that. Would they still do the deal today, knowing what they do now (that Floyd may not be washed up and Sanchez seemingly can now throw strikes)? Maybe, maybe not... Time to move on and here's hoping Joe Biagini becomes the new Hendriks.
  4. How the F are we supposed to trade for Dan Straily now???? Man I was hoping we'd get to take a chance on him and his sexy SwStr%
  5. He also raked at AAA last year. wRC+ of 156. Maybe he's the next coming of Edgar Martinez
  6. Dude - he's joking. Between this and you're math - you're all discombobulated today.
  7. You should probably shut'er down man. What you're doing is the opposite of winning.
  8. Good call...why would he maximize Pillar's value. He was only successful 86% of the time last year.
  9. Jesus we've been through this. 10. I was assuming Sanchez was in AAA starting...but even if he's in the pen, it would be a lot easier to stretch him out (has options, young, etc.).
  11. We know you think inning limits are stupid, but you have no idea what the FO will do. Regardless of whether they cap his innings to theoretically help prevent injury, it's not too difficult to accept that Sanchez may simply tire out the first time he's asked to make 32-34 starts at the major league level. I think it's extremely unrealistic to think he'll make 30 starts this year. I don't necessarily disagree with your approach - I'm just saying there's a debate there. Right now we have 8 options to start. If we put Floyd in the pen, I think we inevitably lose him as a starting option, which puts us at 7. I'm not sure that's a great idea. You can argue the "worry about today" approach - but reality is - the MLB season is a war, not a battle.
  12. Jesus - I never saw that highlight (I got to watch darts instead). Is Hutch going to be in the AAA DL list with a concussion? Get that man one of those form hat/helmet things!
  13. I'm not sure this is true. Maybe it does for April, but not necessarily over the entire season. It's already been reported Sanchez won't be in the rotation all year due to an innings limit and will move to the pen at some point. If we assume he's going to make 20 starts, that means we have 10-12 more to be made by someone else. Floyd is healthy right now, pitching well and could make those starts in April/May. The chances of him making those 10-12 starts in August/Sept are very slim IMO. First he has to avoid injury and second, he'd have to accept a demotion to AAA to get stretched out. Is the pitcher who's going to make 10-12 starts in Aug/Sept. going to be better than April/May Floyd or not? Who knows. We have Chavez & Hutch - but by Aug/Sept, they may already be in the rotation (given teams typically need 8-10 starter per season). I guess time will tell - but people saying "it's the only logical solution" are dumb.
  14. I'm sorry man, but that's really bad math...
  15. What's the diff?
  16. is 368 & 369 currently unavailable for anyone??? wtf
  17. Has anyone analysed the schedule to see if we even need a 5th starter over the first 2-3 weeks???
  18. Yeah I'm that guy...only way I'll play video games again is when my kids get into it so I can play with them
  19. I'm the same. I haven't touched video games since my son was born 5 1/2 years ago....he plays games on the iPad, but I haven't introduced him to the PS3 yet. This game sounds awesome and my son loves baseball, but I still think it's best to keep him away from the PS3 for as long as I can...
  20. Just watched Jays in 30. This was a competitive loss...
  21. bring on the season already...
  22. You're incredible. I guess you can tell us his velocity is up this spring vs. last spring - but you have no idea why, or if that means anything at all. For all we know, last spring he was holding back in an effort to improve his command (something he did for his first couple starts in the regular season) - or maybe he was building up strength in a different manner (pitchers build up strength and velocity as spring training goes on...very common). I'm suggesting that making conclusions based on some spring training velocity is short sighted. Last start he went 6 innings - great...what about the ones before that? That's great he had good velocity in his first start of the year when he went 6 innings. Can he sustain that for 15-20 straight starts? Time will tell. I'm fully believe Sanchez can improve and surely hope he does. I'm rooting for this kid as much as anyone. I'm simply concerned he hasn't been able to develop quality secondary pitches (which he's been trying to for 6-7 years now with no success). I'm encouraged by the BB% this spring - but it's unheard of to go from 5 BB/9 to <2 or whatever he's shown this spring. I think he can have some success if he can get the walks down around 3 BB/9 - but even that's a massive jump. It took Randy Johnson, one of the best pitchers of all time 6 full seasons and over 180 starts to get his BB/9 under 3. Based on all that - I'm simply suggesting those who have his hog lodged in their throats to simply pump the brake a little and acknowledge these spring training starts vs. horrible competition may not be signs he's going to challenge for the cy young this year.
