  1. I like the Poeltl pick. It was hard to see them pass up on Labissiere and Davis at 27 - considering both were thought to go in the 9-15 range...Both have effort/focus questions, but at 27, it's a long shot anyway and I'd rather bet on talent. That said - a lot of teams passed on both and probably know a lot more than I do. Go get Horford, let DD and Biz walk and trade PP and Ross for a SG.
  2. The old Crimedog himself - molding the minds of children everywhere. A guy I work with love McGriff and bought an old school powder blue jersey a couple of years ago. It's awesome. Better line up really early to get a towel! I'm going to that game, but won't be waiting in those lines. Welcome to the board. Just don't start new threads or say dumb stuff. haha.
  3. I think he's suggesting Hutch is going to have to replace Sanchez....then who's the next option if/when the injury bug hits.
  4. That is so awesome. Gibby may not be the best manager in the world - but between this and the photo op with the rest of the AL managers where he just work an un-tucked dress shirt makes him pretty awesome as a person in my books.
  5. how broke is this team?
  6. wat? the Jays can simply give him back to the Giants at any point. He isn't stuck anywhere.
  7. I suspect either Floyd will have reached his expiry date - or we'll ship Biagini back to SF. He's good depth, but I'm not sure he'll ever be anything special anyway.
  8. We'd have to send Floyd/Chavez to AAA for a month to stretch him out at this point. The reality is - we have no more depth behind Hutch outside of Diamond (who sucks).
  9. He looks fine in the commercial. That's probably all guys like Blair see
  10. That's another great response from Atkins. Someone asked me about Sanchez the other day. It's almost a given we're going to lose EE and Jose at the end of the year anyway...this is the year to go for it and based on the current landscape of our rotation (with Stro and Happ being average/below average) - we're going to need Sanchez in the playoff rotation if we have any chance. It might not be so much about protecting Sanchez long term - but how do we ensure he's in top form come playoff time? We can't afford for him to be completely gassed and ineffective. That should be the goal this year IMO.
  11. That's a really good response.
  12. Scary thing is they'll be even better if some of these things happen: - Fielder and/or Moreland start hitting like they did last year - Profar and/or Gallo's prospect status starts to translate in the majors - Darvish gets healthy and dominates - Choo gets healthy and plays like last year Then again - Ian Desmond's going to slow down and their rotation is generally a mess. Good bullpen though.
  13. I guess the Ruth trade probably does go down as the most lopsided in the history of the game.....never to be approached. I think dumping VDub's contract on the Angels has to be right up there as well (although hard to compare to the JD one).
  14. I'm not saying it's overshadowed......those are just all things I will "remember" about Jose's career as a blue jay. Its kind of like Machado. Elite, generational talent who I'll always remember as a douche bag.
  15. meh - it's not fair for you to tell me what I will remember him for Wok. I will remember him as a great hitter. A powerful, patient hitter who in 2010 was must watch TV as this guy comes out of nowhere to hit 54 hrs. In 2011, he was the best hitter in baseball. Then of course I'll never for the flip. After that - I'll remember him as someone who complained about everything and came off as a hot head/jackass who was generally not disliked by the vast majority of baseball (fans & players). I'll also remember his vastly declining defense (especially after hurting his once lethal arm) and the reported stubbornness to move to another position. Finally I'll remember his ludicrous monetary demands and stupid comments about "home discounts". All in all - never one of my favourite players in spite of his success. Here's to hoping there's a final chapter to my memory of one Jose Bautista.
  16. Does anyone know if there's been an increase in FB% (from hitters) over the past 2-3 years? It seems more hitters realise they do more damage by getting the ball in the air. On the flip side, teams love pitchers with high GB% and we all know slight uppercut swings are ideal for combating sinkers. This is pure speculation on my part, but I'm curious if anyone knows the stats on it.
  17. misplaying a ball in the outfield? If so, then I'd say fitting. As much as I respect what he's done at the plate, the insistence on keeping him in the OF has been comical....right down to the f'ing commercial this year of him pitching from RF.
  18. Buck and Tabby just make s*** up way too much. State the facts and mix in a few stories and when in doubt - shut up.
  19. I think there was just a typo in the original 31st ranking.. There's a bullet and note on the page that explains it. It's not Shulman related.
  20. Shocking. I'm baffled as to why we don't have a thread dedicated to the stupid things the experts & broadcasters say on a daily basis.
  21. He always looked like Tom Gordon anyway...
  22. Blair probably agrees (because he's an idiot).
  23. There's no evidence to suggest inning limits aren't working...
  24. Really? I was hoping to see LeBlanc and Pompey or that reliever in AA who's dominating (mentioned yesterday).
  25. um...I don't think they are moving him to the bullpen because they think we need help there...
