    Personally, I'd love to see him take a page out of Pablo Sandoval's book.....tear it up from here on out, win World Series MVP as the Jays get crowned champs, then we'll qualify him, watch someone overpay and then promptly decline while we restock the farm.

    Grilli's fist pumps alone qualify as high reward for the Jays (and fans). Man I love me some Grilli.

    I'm saying in terms of relievers, it's a high reward acquisition. I think you underestimate the impact Grilli's had on the pen. I love analytics, but I don't think the WAR numbers do justice in this case. I think there's a real chance that Benoit, Grilli, Sanchez and Osuna are the 4 pen horses we ride to the WS this year.

    I think Benoit is similar to Grilli - and he's been a high reward acquisition. I don't expect a lot from Feldman.

    It's the only logical explanation as to why someone would support Jose's antics with umpires

    Listen bud - he's one of the biggest complainers (to umpires) in the league. That's fact. If you remove his manhood from the base of your throat for a moment and/or if you ever played baseball, you'd realise the whining his displays at the plate is bad for the team and the game. That's one the leading reasons why he's widely considered a douche. Unfortunately, he doesn't have the mental capacity to understand this (or the self control to resist it). It's a pretty common characteristic in the hot head / egotistical jackass types.

    Having good instincts and base running ability is never a bad thing - even if it doesn't translate into SB's at the ML level. His old man couldn't learn English after being in NA for like 15 years. Anything to suggest he studies the game a bit is a good sign IMO.

    Um...nobody argues with umpires like Jose. Umpires have been s***** since the Babe was around. Jose looks like a baby when he complains and I think that's the primary reason people think he's a douche.

    I think most consider him a douchebag for his antics with the umpires. That isn't personality, it's a lack of emotional intelligence and self control.

    This is a bit out there - but it seems when you read about hitters making mechanical adjustments - it's to lower their hands and create more loft in their swing (vs. the chop down stuff that was promoted previously). We all know lofted swings hit sinkers better. Are we seeing a trend where hitters are moving to more loft in their swings to counter all the pitchers who are using 2 seamers in lieu of 4 seamers?

    until this debate - I guess I never though of the "face of the franchise" simply as the player who the bandwagon/casual fans thinks of when they think of the team (not entirely sure what I thought it was). I hope he helps us win this year, but personally, I can't wait until he's gone. Not sure I've ever hated a star player on the Jays more than Jose. He's like an angry 8 year old stuck in a mans body.

    I hope not because Jose is a massive POS. His antics are often cringe worthy (like his defense).

    I suspect most bandwagon/causal fans would say Donaldson as often as they would Bautista. Winning the MVP will do that. New topic - who gives a F about the casual fan. Marketing people might, but the day the FO gives 2 shits about what the casual fan (who complains the referee is s***) is the day they should resign.

    speaking of the Nats - what is wrong with Bryce? wRC+ of 116. Wilson Ramos with more WAR. Also - is Anthony Rendon going to start hitting again? wRC+ of about 100 over his past 760 PA's. He's a superstar if he get his wRC+ back up to 125-135 (which the minor league numbers suggest he should). Ben Revere has a -0.6 WAR on the year FWIW.
