  1. We all have - don't feel bad.
  2. I don't give a F if Jose retires a Blue Jay. If he's having a great year - but the Jays are out of it and we can get assets for him - and he rejects a trade - he's getting this: http://i.imgur.com/ydtf14y.gif
  3. You might want to take a look at a list of the big contracts before you play this card...Might as well start alphabetically with the Angels. Let me know how you make out.

  5. Jesus we have a hard enough time attracting FA's as it is. Let's move on - this isn't an option.
  6. If we do re-sign Jose for 2-3 years - I'd want to have this discussion with him upfront. If we're out of it - we're dealing ya bud. Don't like it? Call the O's again or go play for Boston for free. Heck I'd even see if we could write it in his contract that he waives all 10-5 rights. f*** him, he has no leverage right now.
  7. Has anyone heard what the market is for Ivan Nova? Much like Happ - Nova was lights out with Pittsburgh last year (1.9 WAR in 11 starts). He'll only be 30 next year, high GB%, low BB%, no draft pick attached and he doesn't seem to be generating a lot of buzz. Could you swoop in and pick him up for 3 years $33M or something? I don't want to trade Stro or Sanchez at all, but I'd love to see what we could get for Happ or Estrada right now.
  8. You really know how to ruin a sem don't you Greenwood.
  9. Remember who you're talking to Gov...
  10. Checks calendar. Yep. Still December 9th.
  11. For the average folk - it doesn't matter as much about appearance. It's about test driving a new car. BMW, Mazda? doesn't matter. Something tells me MLB players don't get the same thrill.
  12. But dem 15 SB's in 62 games! 34 BB vs. 35 K is so sexy for a 17 year old.
  13. Why would LA delay any longer? I guess he puts people in the seats, but surely they release that overspending on FA's, combined with some of the worst drafting in recent memory isn't going to surround Trout with enough talent to win.
  14. Home opener is vs. the Brewers? Not that I'd ever go to a home opener, but could we get less dramatic? Note - just realised I've been mis-using the word melodramatic for a couple of decades. Awesome.
  15. Johnny Assumptions - take a break would ya?
  16. Considering it appears nobody else has offered him more....yes.

  18. New plan. - Trade for Dyson - Trade for Puig - Trade for Patrick Corbin....(fall back would be Bastardo - who should almost be free) I think there's a decent chance you can get all 3 without give up a significant package of prospects. - Sign K.Jansen - 5 yr $85M - Sign Valbuena - 2 yr $16M (fall back would be B.Moss) - Sign Bud Norris Travis 2nd JD 3rd Tulo SS Morales DH Puig RF Pearce/Valbuena 1st Martin C Pillar CF Dyson/Pearce LF Team is built on defense and pitching and more team speed.
  19. Longer they wait, the less value they'll get. I'd see what LA would give up... Pederson, Puig, Urias and DeLeon would probably be in the ballpark...although LAA may prefer prospects over MLB ready guys in Pederson and Puig
  20. Hey Jose - you're out 8th option. Welcome back
  21. Suck a bag of dicks Fowler.
  22. At the bottom of the article he claims Matt Holliday is a better hitter than EE and says he'll be a beast in NY.
  23. I like this approach if there's a Plan B. If Plan B is Jose 3 years $50M then let's give Fowler an extra $10M.
  24. How much does his -20.6 DEF ranking in 2014 affect his overall WAR? I thought I read that was a positioning issue that the Cubs corrected. Another way to ask this is what would his WAR have been in 2014 if his DEF was around 0.0 (like it was in 2013, 2015 and 2016)? 2015 was one of his best years to date at the plate, so I'd have to assume he would have been 3.5+ WAR. That positioning issue in Houston that one year is probably skewing Steamers projections. Pretend he's coming off 3.5, 3.3 and 4.7 WAR seasons....it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside to think we have a shot at this guy - who's a great fit in our lineup and fills a massive need.
