  1. Wow - there's a lot of guys on that list who threw a ton of innings in relief and were never the same. I never know Mark Eichorn was actually good at one point (like really good). I was only 5 in 1986. Someone should point this out to Goose Gossage.
  2. What's the highest WAR posted by a reliever all-time? Kimbrel's on pace for like a 4-5 WAR season.
  3. umps makes awful call. Throws out player for kicking his helmet in disgust. Sounds about right.
  4. I don't know man. A large % of drafted catchers end up going bust (much like QB's and top line SP'ing). I prefer the Cubs model where they draft position players with a much higher chance of reaching their potential. Use your $ or your prospects to buy/trade for established SP'ing + catchers. Using high picks chasing those elusive Ace pitchers and starting catchers is a risky game. Interesting note - Martin's been more valuable than Yadi over the course of his career, yet Yadi is likely a HOFer and seemingly renowned as this generational talent who's larger than the game. Makes me want to puke. Cannot watch the Cards on Sunday Night Baseball.
  5. Well then you're my f***ing hero pal. Congrats. Go buy yourself a lollipop and take the rest of the day off. Between this and the draft day debates, you've firmly established yourself as the most insufferable person on this board.
  6. Jesus f*** - we traded for him midway through the 2015 season. In 2014 his wRC+ was 170 and he was a 5 WAR player in 91 games. There was clearly a chance that with a change of scenery that he would be SIGNIFICANTLY better than what we've gotten. You also have to factor in that we gave up a declining player on a massive contract as well, which helps cancel out the risk. You can pretend you knew Tulo was going to be a replacement level player and Hoffman wasn't going to bust - but the reality is that's a farce. There were a plethora of possible outcomes with respect to the Tulo/Hoffman deal - most of which NOBODY could have predicted. It just appears we're going to come out on the s*** end of this one.
  7. You have to factor in the probability that Hoffman busts when you evaluate this type of thing. For every pitcher who turns like (it appears) Hoffman will, there are 2 or 3 more like Tyler Kolek, Toussaint, Brady Aiken or Mark Appel who are highly regarded, yet end up being complete zeros.
  8. Well that's kinda warped now isn't it. To each their own. Big fan of Bradley Jones are you?
  9. f*** I don't blame him - although I expect there are a lot of whores available to the minor league ballplayers too.
  10. What are the chances MacGregor is getting owned/hurt, loses his s***, says F this and round houses Mayweather, then breaks his arm in the arm bar? That would be worth watching.
  11. He's been injured as far as I know.
  12. That's a fair response. If they want to shake off a 15 year old finger blasting a 4 year old because he's a good pitcher, then all the power to them I guess.
  13. That's the most plausible answer. THANOS for the win.
  14. Zeke is tied for 3rd on the team in WAR...so apparently everywhere but 1st and 3rd is a black hole.
  15. If that's my actual opinion I guess. Do you have an answer for my perfectly legit question though? Why would overseas be any different than MLB?
  16. Yep - I see that now. Looks like I get my wish.
  17. I'm suggesting if no ML team is willing to sign this guy and let them play baseball for them - why would a team overseas? Different morals over there? or could a team in Korea simply avoid the PR nightmare because he's foreign? That said - I am trolling you on this issue. It's fun.
  18. I'd like to see him get some regular at bats...but I guess he won't with Zeke hitting so well.
  19. If you drop a ball in foul territory - it's a foul ball, not a double.
  20. He should transfer to Penn State.
  21. They're more accepting of that overseas??? Fewer people with the internet over there?
  22. Sorry - I took that as he's touching 95-96 as a reliever, but sits 90-92 as a starter. But whatever, it just seems most RH relievers are 95+ these days. I certainly don't take notice when a guy is throwing 95+ anymore like I did 5-10 years ago.
