  1. Key22 is from Hong Kong (errrr - so his profile says). Jim's from another planet too I think.
  2. You have no f***ing idea what his trade value is. Shut it down man.
  3. Driveline is likely one of the major reasons that Bauer is actually good now.
  4. Good call on releasing Smoak.
  5. LMO Let's move on.
  6. Let's not group Mark Trumbo in with JD Martinez or Chris Davis please. His career best was a 2.4 WAR season back in 2012. He belongs in the Khris Davis category. Outside of an injury ridden 2016, J.D. Martinez has been posting 4-5 WAR seasons with a wRC+ of about 145 since he reinvented his swing. Every analytics department in baseball would drool over that. The man is an elite hitter. The question is - how will he age and how much risk is there? It's funny you mention Chris Davis, as he might be the reason for teams to pause. He put up 2 MASSIVE offensive seasons in 2013 and 2015 - averaging about 6.5 WAR and a wRC+ of 160. The issue with him is he was utter s*** in 2014 and has since gone from being one of the best offensive players in baseball to useless in a hurry. Is JD Martinez going to be Nelson Cruz? or will he be Chris Davis? Time will tell.
  7. Can we go trade for Brandon Nimmo now please? Lefty bat who can play all 3 OF positions. He'd be an ideal fit as out 4th OFer - someone who could platoon with Teoscar. The Mets once again have a log jam in the OF, so we might get him at a reasonable cost.
  8. His K% in AAA for the Astros was only 20.7% last year and was in the high teens in AA/AAA in 2016. He also walked a lot more in Houston that he did with us. His K% spiked in Buffalo and with the Jays last year, but hopefully that's a SSS.
  9. Don't forget McHugh....who's coming off 3 straight 3+ WAR seasons before injuries caught up to him last year. Charlie Morton was on pace for a 4.5 WAR season (over 200 inning last year). That staff is f***ing insane.
  10. Are we starting an era of super teams in MLB? Astros, Dodgers, Yanks, Washington
  11. Don't forget to add in Teoscar's value in there. Even with a wRC+ of 95-100, he could put up 2.5 WAR season based on BsR + Def.
  12. I guess that's fair. My rebuttal would be he's a better asset for us. If he returns to his 3+ WAR form, he'll be a pretty valuable piece either way - and someone has to pitch for us in 2019 + 2020. Also, Lynn + Teaoscar is probably >> than Grandy + Dickey in 2018, plus it gives us the opportunity to see if Teaoscar is going to be an everyday player that could help the team in 2020-2022.
  13. I agree and while I love the idea of trading for Yelich - while also thinking Grandy would be a solid fit - I can't see us doing both. How worried are we that Happ and Estrada leave after this season? If our 5th starter signing is another stop gap, we could be looking at a rotation with only Stro + Sanchez, with youngsters Borucki, SRF, etc. hopefully knocking at the door. Giving a starting OF position to Teoscar (or Alford really) and using the extra cash to lock up someone like Lynn to a 3 year deal would provide more stability moving forward.
  14. That's a fair point. It's a real nuisance that our park could factor into our abilities to sign FA's. Maybe Grandy is all about the dollar bills yo. I kind of doubt it though. I think I've read he's a great teammate overall. He's probably looking for a ring. Maybe it has to be a guy like Cargo who's simply looking to rebuild value. Meh.
  15. Ethier had 64 PA's in the majors over the past 2 years. I don't know man... Grandy might be a solid vet option though. We need a lefty and he's averaged 2.3 WAR per year over the past 2 seasons. Still runs well and plays decent defense. He also walks a lot, which is a nice change up from our free swingers. I'd have to imagine we could get him on a 1 year deal (maybe with a 2nd year option). Lynn at $13M per + Grandy for $8M.
  16. I think I could stomach 4 years $56M; however, that would probably leave us with a glaring need in the OF. How good would Lynn at $14M and Yelich at $7M in 2018 look? (Yelich for Bo + Urena, or Alford, Warmoth + C.Greene). Yelich - RF Donaldson - 3rd Smoak - 1st Morales - DH Martin - C Tulo - SS Travis - 2nd Pillar - CF Teoscar - LF B - Diaz, Solarte, Pearce, Catcher Stro, Sanchez, Happ, Estrada, Lynn (Borucki, Biagini, Deck, etc.) Edit - Holy f***, out lineup still looks awful even if we add an impact bat to fill out the OF...
  17. What do you guys think Lance Lynn will end up getting? I suspect Shatkins will focus on filling our needs in the OF, but if they don't, I think Lynn could be a good target. He'll be two years removed from TJ surgery and I think there's a decent chance he returns to his 2012 - 2015 levels (during which he averaged 3.3 WAR per season - or a #2 starter). He'll be 31 this year and would help bridge the gap if we lose Happ and/or Estrada after this year. I also read he made significant improvements with his change up in the 2nd half last year (albeit a SSS as he doesn't throw it much). Perhaps sending time with Marco would help him develop a new weapon that would help as he ages. Given the slow market and coming off a "down" season - is there a chance he ends up with a JA Happ type deal? 3 yr $33M. I kind of expected him to get 3 years $45M when the FA season opened, but it's been so slow, I'm wondering if the price is dropping. Thoughts?
  18. NJH - are you going to grace us with detailed suggestions on what moves you think the Jays should make this offseason? I really enjoyed reading and discussing your suggestions last year.

  20. I can't ignore that 3-13 record either
  21. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think he's going to have much impact either way. Rule 5 picks usually suck and unfortunately, I think we've already seen the best of Biagini. He's a depth guy who adds value because he can start or pitch in relief.
  22. Jesus - you guys lose sleep to watch games? That's amazing. I don't even stay up to watch the west coast games.
  23. Lackey's a f***ing douche. Hard no.
