  1. I don't doubt what you're saying, but I thought one of theories for Cole's success in Houston was that he's throwing his curve and slider way more than he did in Pittsburgh where they pitch to contact more (although sticking fingers makes the curve/slider more nasty)
  2. Interesting topic. As someone just pointed out - Verlander seems to be completely dominant again. Have his spin rates spiked since he moved to Houston? Chad Morton? My other question is - do they think this is the sunscreen/rosin combo....or something different? I thought it was widely known that most pitchers are using that combo? You also heard announcers say the hitters would prefer if the pitchers had a good grip on the ball when they are throwing 95 MPH. I highly doubt that true.
  3. Cool stat of the day: If Hader doesn't strike out any of the next 101 batters he faces - he'll still have a league average strikeout rate.
  4. This is exactly the type of quality analysis we should expect from Barker. Dogg is trolling (as per usual), but I do enjoy him keeping us posted on all the incredibly stupid things that Barker says throughout the year. I still think we need a thread devoted to all the stupid things that our local broadcast teams says.
  5. Wouldn't it be nice if someone could call in and explain to Barker and Blair, in a very professional manner that they are f***ing stupid and have no business spreading nonsense to the general public?
  6. I need to look into these podcast things you young hipster talk about...
  7. Amen!!! My wife sure is reaping the rewards of Vlad's success.
  8. I love how Buck thinks Molitor is going to grill the team after the game. "Leave the lights on, we have some teaching to do" These are grown men. "Hey Dozier - you need to catch the ball and get an out". Holy f*** that will go over well. Thanks coach - I was confused as to what I should do there.
  9. Buck is confused as to why that was ruled an error? WTF?
  10. Didn't he mean pinch hit Pearce and then let Gift come in to play SS?
  11. Clippard is all smoke and mirrors. Wowsers
  12. Tabby on Lynn - "he's always been a man with great command and great control" Sportsmen post his stats showing he's never had a year with a BB/9 under 3....including 3.77 last year and 3.5 in 2015. Great job putz.
  13. You're nuts if you think this FO signed Morales in hast after EE didn't accept their (superior) offer.
  14. It's just a depth thing. People are calling for Grichuk to be DFA'd too - but injuries happen and you need to be prepared. As the Dr. says though, if nobody is going to take Morales's contract, then he probably remains a depth piece in AAA.
  15. I suspect this is the move. But there's no need to DFA Morales today. If Smoak blows out his knee tomorrow or JD has a setback and requires season ending surgery, then we'll probably need Morales (although if a or b happen, we're probably f***ed either way).
  16. Yennsy Diaz 28 2/3 innings 6 hits allowed 1 ER allowed 29 Ks
  17. Gurriel sure has cemented himself at 2nd with that 69 wRC+ he's posted so far. Can't take that guy out of the lineup!
  18. You never saw the 6'5 240 lbs pitcher with 4 pitches as a starter? You sound like someone who's desperate to tell everyone "I told you so" so they think you're smart. Joe actually wasn't that good in relief last year either. Although I'm sure you'd be the first to tell us that's because the Jays stretched him out and that ruined him. Teams need starting pitching depth. That's what Joe is.
  19. He drove a car over an old man's head.......goof isn't strong enough.
  20. I guess you've never seen Bartolo Colon pitch.
  21. You start Morales when the pitcher doesn't even throw a breaking ball. Same with Diaz.
  22. McGuire and Warmouth are starting to hit.
  23. Gurriel posted a wRC+ of 17 so far this year. Diaz isn't hitting, but neither is Gurriel. I guess Gibby could play Solarte at SS a bit (when Estrada and Happ are starting?), but he doesn't really have good options at SS right now.
