  1. I don't really disagree. Alonso is best utilized in a platoon. You could use him and Santana at 1st, with Santana also playing some OF. Santana would also provide some insurance encase the league adjusts to the "new" Alonso. Phillips would also be a fit. OT - what's with the huge K% from Brewers outfielders/prospects? Santana, Broxton, Phillips, Harrison, Diaz...even Brinson. They all strike out a ton!
  2. Salazar for Dom Santana? That could work.
  3. Blair and Steve Simmons are the genital herpes of the Toronto sports scene.
  4. Isn't Brinson the 13th overall prospect? Wouldn't that make it closer to Bo++?
  5. Fun fact. Mike Trout already has more career WAR than Vlady Sr.
  6. I actually have a close friend who's cousin was banging Goins for awhile. I should find out if her twitter handle is andreiaraptorsI. Seriously though, the most erroneous part in her post was when she claimed Goins was going to an amazing team.
  7. Common theme with this FO. If you throw hard and strike people out - but can't land a job because you walk too man....we want to take a look at you in Spring Training.
  8. If we truly had an option to sign Cain at 4 years, $64M and trade Pillar for a starting pitcher with similar value (1.5-2.5 WAR), age and control then I think Shatkins would do that in a heartbeat (T.Walker, P.Corbin, Straily, I.Nova, Duffy, Chase Anderson, all randomly come to mind). I read an article on Cain yesterday that he's still super fast and his exit velocity is the same as Edwin and Springer (I'd always viewed him more of a contact guy), which gives me hope his bat would age well.
  9. Holy f***. Make it stop.
  10. Dammit - I can't find the Mario T comments....
  11. hcamby17 is going to plan a road trip to KC to watch Goins. hcamby17 needs to re-evaluate his life.
  12. This reminds me that while doing a speech at Winterfest, Stro was talking about how Goins misses the Jays fans and how they traveled together and sucked each other off all offseason.
  13. Royals new leadoff hitter.
  14. Right - I was looking at the velocities listed under "pitch type". No idea why they don't match. Point remains, he was hurt last year.
  15. Oh f***. Barf.
  16. Stop making things up. His FB averaged 91.4 MPH between 2013 and 2016. He had a shoulder injury last year, which did drop his velocity to 90.7 (exact same as his average FB in 2014). If he's healthy again, give the guy a shot. That said, he very well could be the Jays 2018 version of Mat Latos.
  17. Completely agree Boxy....although I must ask what you think the Twins are doing to ruin Buxton?
  18. averaged 2.1 WAR per year between 2013 and 2016. If his shoulder is healthy again and he's dirt cheap on a 1 year deal (or better yet a minor league deal) than sure.
  19. The anti Arencibia!
  20. For those who don't want to open this link, here's an interested tidbit on Grichuk Grichuk purchased a pitching machine at the end of last season and has spent the offseason tracking pitches and taking extended batting practice. The machine has the ability to randomly alternate between balls and strikes, and Grichuk has challenged himself to call out each pitch before it arrived. With a career on-base percentage below .300, Grichuk is all too aware that his strikeouts need to come down and his walk rate needs to go up. The pitching machine was one possible solution to becoming a more well-rounded hitter. The learning process didn't stop there. "One of the things that I've been really trying to focus on is training the eyes," Grichuk said. "I took a course on vision training, to work the muscles in the eyes. So many people don't really work out their eyes and there are a lot of muscles in the eyes that are just like a normal muscle in the body. You need to train it, you need to work it out. I've been doing a lot of things to help improve plate discipline for the upcoming season." I must say I've never really heard of a player doing this before.
  21. I left that out for effect Org...I'll cherry pick whenever I damn well please! But seriously...not impressive for a 26 year old in AA. His career is done.
  22. His line in AA last year as a 26 year old was .205/.376/.397. Kat - you must be looking at his 2012 season in AA...
  23. Jon Singleton suspended 100 games for his 3rd positive drug test. His career is all but over, but TIL the Astros signed him to a rare pre-debut $10 million extension with Houston back in 2014. That contract will expire after the 2018 campaign. Lucky guy. Stupid on the Astros for not having an out clause for stupidity.
  24. I agree about their lack of depth offensively, but is the pen really that bad? Kimbrel, Carson Smith, Barnes, Joe Kelly, Hembree, Abad.....I mean if Smith is healthy and you add some fillers, that's a good pen
  25. Article on roboumps - something we've discussed a lot on here. TLDR, but here you go. https://www.fangraphs.com/tht/the-physics-of-roboump/
