  1. I think something is wrong with Stro
  2. Morales looks a lot better at the plate right now. We'll need his bat
  3. Looks....yep, Upton, Kinsler and Cozart are still on the team! Trout, Ohtani, Upton, Kinsler, Simmons, Calhoun, Cozart. Pretty sure this team is going to score runs. They catch it well too. Pitching is their issue. The only thing slumping is the quality of your posts!
  4. Freeman, Albies, Acuna and Swanson is a pretty sweet young core.
  5. Hold on. Instead of using his 2 seamer to pitch to contact and induce weak contact, Happ has gone back to using the 4 seamer, pitching up in the zone like he did in Pittsburgh when he was dominant there for 2/3 of a season? Mimicking the approach he used during the most dominant stretch of his career? What a f***ing crazy concept...
  6. Agreed. Hitters read scouting reports on new pitchers they are facing and the pitchers read the scouting report on the new hitters they are facing. I don't know if it's easier for a pitcher to read a scouting report, identify the weakness and exploit it than it is for a hitter to read a scouting report and identify the pitchers strengths and tendencies. I guess the former seems a little easier (this putz can't hit breaking balls low and away - attack), which might explain why pitchers have the upper hand initially?
  7. Travis to the DL is going to be the next move...
  8. TIL Mike Napoli still plays baseball. He blew out his knee.
  9. Is there any other way without ripping your anus apart? Boxy - don't answer that.
  10. No, no. Taper them. I'm going to start with an expectation of 4 and taper that up to 10 by midseason.
  11. Steamers projects Vlady to be a 101 wRC+ hitter in the majors right now. There's absolutely no way you start his clock if you believe that's the level of success he'd have in the majors this year. Obviously trying to determine how good he could hit ML pitching right now is very difficult, but I'd have to imagine that if the Jays FO called him up now, they'd believe there's a good chance he's a 120+ wRC+ hitter. The only other way I think they'd consider it is if there's a long term injury to JD or Smoak. Otherwise, Solarte and/or Morales provide offensive production at the positions that Vlady would play.
  12. Is Richard Urena hurt? Must be - what did I miss?
  13. Agreed. Then again, you probably won't need a phantom injury for Travis. Aledmys is getting beat up by the BABIP gods right now, but that BB% suggest he may be a lot closer to the hitter he was in 2017 than the one he was in 2016. If so - he shouldn't be plugged into the lineup every night. I see ample opportunity to for LGJ, Diaz, Solarte and Travis to all get ample playing time even when JD returns.
  14. Pardinho's in rookie ball right? That season hasn't started yet? I came here to note that Diaz is unhittable, but apparently I'm too late.
  15. LGJ - a new shiny toy! me so happy! Seriously though - how awesome is it to have depth? Remember when Jonathan Diaz would be the injury call up?
  16. Sir - this isn't the facebook or TSN comment section.
  17. Gabe Kapler's really turned it around in Philly...
  18. He dropped a ball on opening day Spank. Therefore casuals think he sucks.
  19. I think he means all the OFers (excluding Pillar) add up to 2.5. I was also confused and about to post the same thing.
  20. Granderson has posted a higher WAR than Pillar every single season he's been in the bigs (even when Pillar was good in 2015). He's old and declining, but Pillar's also declining in the 1 area he provides value. Edit - ah f*** Term, you beat me to it. You get the thanks.
  21. When Girchuk, Travis and Martin start hitting, there's an excellent chance that Pillar, Teoscar, Solarte and Granderson will stop. That's how baseball works.
  22. golden sombrero for Alford
  23. Are contact rates available for minor league stats? I'd love to look further into Teoscar in Houston v. Teoscar in Toronto. The K% rate seems to have spike significantly since he was traded to Toronto.
  24. You're probably right but it's going to be really hard to take his bat out of the lineup right now.
