  1. I suspect he means that over his career, he's had one of the highest rates of hard hit balls in the majors. Which is true.
  2. The Padres sent up a pitcher to pinch hit in the 7th inning? WTF? wha...what the f*** is wrong with that organization?
  3. Polanco is having a massive start to the season. Big breakout potential.
  4. I hear you, but staggering them seems pretty easy...just give Travis 2 days off in a row and start Solarte at 2nd. I mean you don't need to try hard to find a reason to give Travis an extra day off right now.
  5. Anyone else notice that Gibby seems to give a lot of "days off" to his regulars on the same night that Maile (or whoever the backup catcher is) is scheduled to start? Is there some philosophy there where he thinks you're better off having: A. all your starters play together 5 or 6 days a week and 1 games with multiple bench players starting v. B. 8 starters and a bench player playing 3 or 4 days a week My 'gut' tells me I prefer strategy B and if I know Martin is going to be sitting on Saturday, I'm giving JD or Smoak a day off on Friday - not Saturday. I feel like we've seen this more than once (2-3 bench players starting the say day) over the past 2 years. Just an observation as god knows there are 100's of factors we aren't privy too.
  6. Bang on https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/corey-kluber-is-the-best-pitcher-in-baseball/
  7. Yennsy Diaz has now given up 2 hits in 11 2/3 innings to start the year with 14 K's.
  8. This isn't exactly true. King Felix has one of the best in baseball and it's only 5-6 mph slower than his fastball. There are more than a few pitchers throwing hard changeups effectively. That said - I like how Sanchez's change up as looked so far. Just throw more strikes man.
  9. Best I can do since I'm in Wasaga Beach and don't subscribe to MiBL. I'll see myself out.
  10. 15 errors in 50 games at SS/2nd last year.
  11. I assume it's really popular/busy area - full of snowbirds?
  12. How do you like the Clearwater area? I haven't spent much time there, but that location looks perfect for retirement. My parents are in Port Charlotte and it's the same. They can't get enough staff in restaurants. You'll go in and half the tables are open, but you have to wait because they don't have enough servers. Most restaurants now have to increase pay for servers and cooks or they'll go somewhere else (so much demand).
  13. May also be why the CB% is down and the CU% is up... Personally, I think he could be very effective working at 92-94 on his sinker with a good curve and that new quality change up. BUT - if that's the new Sanchez - he needs to throw way more strikes and keep the BB% down.
  14. SSS, but his SwStr% is at 10.7% so far this year - best of his career (8.2% in 2016) It's not going to matter how hard he's throwing, or what pitch sequence he's using if he can't get the BB% down. With HBP included, he's at 6.86 BB/9 right now (vs. 5.95 K/9). That isn't sustainable.
  15. It may depend on our organization's philosophy on the matter. More and more teams are willing to give up some defense to put stud hitters are premier defensive positions. Bogaerts and Correa are good examples.
  16. That's Kevin Barkers view. It's probably the most useless opinion you'll ever listen too.
  17. yeah - we don't judge based on ERA around these parts... 14.3 K/9, 2.1 BB/9 2.98 FIP and 2.15 xFIP in 17 innings last year suggest he has considerable upside.
  18. Man - this kid really looks the part. If he ever improves his contact rate, look out.
  19. Nice to see Alford's back already. But why's he in Dunedin? Just because it's warm I assume?
  20. I always thought Kacy Clemens was a non-prospect?
  21. Holy jesus you guys question everything. Think for a second about how much information you probably don't have when forming your opinion about what is right or wrong about our lineup night. There is absolutely no reason for people to be questioning the construction of our lineup for any one game.
  22. I think it could also be a guy who's a fringe Top 100 prospect (like Pearson), who you think is going to be jump to he Top 20 by the end of the year.....ie, this guy's a legit, top prospect/future stud Everyone has their own interpretation - except for Grant - his is just wrong.
  23. You could make a world series caliber lineup with guys with negative wRC+ right now 1. D. Travis 2nd -69 2. McCutchen DH -33 3. Longoria 3rd -35 4. Gary Sanchez C -14 5. Chris Davis 1st -39 6. Kevin Kiermaier CF -44 7. Bradley Zimmer RF -33 8. Billy Hamilton LF -37 9. JP Crawford SS -60 Keep Forsythe -26 on the bench because Travis is made of glass. That's a pretty good team! And both our posts are completely irrelevant.
