  1. That's a huge win. Diaz was a monster tonight.
  2. Teoscar will probably challenge Ohtani for the AL MVP too.
  3. JD hurt, Travis hurt. Calling Vlady and Bo - we now have openings for you...
  4. Let's see Mayza please...
  5. Pearce baby. This is the guy we all thought we were getting last year.
  6. 89 MPH - RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE.....Travis - foul ball. f*** sakes man. So cold.
  7. Barker just said that Teoscar double that scored Pearce was the first run the Jays earned this year. Something about how even a s***** hitting Travis gave himself up to move a runner. So bad.
  8. 25% sliders + 15% curves
  9. He's spinning the ball 40% of the time so far this year. Great results. May shread his elbow.
  10. Man he had an awful jump. It was a hit & run, but he got a really late break.
  11. Everyone remember back in the day when the catcher would have thrown his entire body in front of home plate on that play and there would have been a collision? Remember how stupid that was? What we just saw is exactly what baseball should look like. You throw to the base and the player tags the runner - just like he would on a throw to 3rd base.
  12. Travis is so bad defensively. Almost as bad as this official scorer....gave Ramirez a hit on that? c'mon man. Bush league BS.
  13. Is Joe Mauer a HOF player? 42.9 WAR as a catcher before he moved to 1st (5.9 WAR since). MVP + lots of gold gloves. Likely finishes with a career WAR in the low to mid 50's. Thoughts?
  14. Spanky. Time to post the "let's go blue jays" picture with the guys on the bikes. It's time to score a few and then lock down Game 1. Get Stro the W for gutting this one out. BTW - I think something is wrong with Stro's shoulder and I think he's pitching through it. The rust just doesn't seem to be coming off unfortunately.
  15. My favourite poster....just saw this on Imgur.
  16. I'm late to the party, but you guys remember when Stroman had control and Pillar made tough catches in the OF? Those were good times. And has Devon Travis ever dove and came up with a ground ball? Love that at bat Diaz had. He clearly needs to make adjustments with breaking balls - but this kid has some lightning in his bat.
  17. I don't think anyone is suggesting otherwise Jim. You repeat yourself a lot eh? Your position is well known.
  18. Interesting question. It likely depends on how long they think it would take to build up the arm strength and fix his arm. If it's 15-20 days, then you go ahead and do it. If it's going to take 30-45 days then that's going to euchre the season and I'd love to see the Jays say f*** it - you're probably gone at the end of this year so you can DH from now on and work on your arm on the side. If you can get it back in shape, we'll play you at 3rd. But - I suspect JD's pending free agency plays a factor in the decision. I can't see JD wanting to DH for an extended period this year at all.
  19. 1. DFA Morales 2. DH Donaldson for the rest of the year 3. call up Vlady to play 3rd 4. win world series
  20. I didn't realize he said "this year". My comments were more based on his career peak.
  21. Can I answer no to both of those questions? What WAR calculation are you using? Fangraph's says Clemens 1997 WAR was 10.7 while Baseball Reference says it was 11.9....both of which are topped by Barry Bonds in 2002 (12.7) I'd love to see Ohtani be that good. It would be fantastic for baseball, but he loses value because he DH's and is a part time player - so it's incredibly unlikely he'll approach 12-13 WAR in a season.
  22. I used to agree with you, but it's hard to ignore the K% rate he's put up since coming to the Jays. As you said, he seemed to make a big adjustment in 2016 and the first half of 2017 with the Astros. His K% rate was about 18-20% in just under 950 PA's (and those improvements may date back into the 2nd half of 2015 - I didn't care enough to look). But since coming to the Jays, his K% has sky rocketed back up to 30% over this past 222 PA's. I don't pretend to know when K% stabilizes or whatever, but it would appear (to my untrained eye) that we are creeping out of the SSS territory and into the legitimate concern stage.
