  1. Can I get the cole's notes on the difference between fWAR and bWAR?
  2. How much can we put some of Maddon's odd decisions on Epstien/Hoyer? We all praised Gibby's ability to adapt to a new front office and to the way they wanted to play the game (using analytics more). Is Maddon following direction - or is he so high and well respected that we think he's 100% calling the shots?
  3. Barnes pitched through knee pain all year. Expect him to have offseason surgery. I don't know if that was a major factor in his results this season, but it may have.
  4. Dem Rockies have had issues with roster management....
  5. Meh - I may just be really excited that playoff baseball is back. The pitching has been great...I like pitching.
  6. "Hamels throws him lemons and he makes lemonade" - that's the worst comment of the day from A-Rod. Edit - he must be getting tired...suggesting a bunt with 1 out.
  7. This has been an incredible game. I f***ing love playoff baseball.
  8. Severino starting over Happ for the Yanks in the WC game. People seem surprised by this. Why? Severino was superior in almost every single way this season, including his recent success in the month of September. Are people speculating Happ would start b/c of his W/L record with the Yanks?
  9. Who's your pick to when the World Series now J4L?
  10. I just realised these games are on in the afternoon. FFS - people have to work. I was all jacked to watch them this evening.
  11. Teo is actually really fast. He just has no idea how to use that on the baseball field.
  12. I don't know....but that wild card game is going to be must see TV. It's going to be glorious.
  13. Good call. Either way - for me. Giles is very comparable to Osuna. To think we essentially replaced Osuna while added a very talented arm is exciting - even if you ignore the situation that Shatkins/Ownership were in. When you factor in the later, it's a massive win.
  14. What does he mean by this: A functional closer who’s not as good as the guy he replaced, but turning a radioactive commodity into the potential Rookie of the Year isn’t something that’s likely to be replicated any time soon.
  15. I like that. I was fortunately enough to be at the game yesterday and my kids got to meet Pillar. Gibby (and probably, hopefully? Pillar) will be gone from the Jays soon - but neither will soon be forgotten in the hearts of Jays fans.
  16. Nice to see Berti get a hit. Fun game to be at.
  17. Holy f*** I'm going to miss Gibby
  18. From Rotoworld: "Roberto Osuna has had his domestic assault charge withdrawn. It was the result of an agreement between the prosecution and Osuna. He's agreed to a peace bond for one year in addition to not having any contact with the alleged victim during that time. Osuna was arrested back in early May for allegedly assaulting a woman and served a 75-game suspension from MLB before being traded to the Astros in July. He has been serving as Houston's primary closer in recent weeks."
  19. Perfect. He or she will fit right in.
  20. 2 questions: 1. Has Yelich locked up the NL MVP Award? Looks like he's going to finish with 30/100/100 with a .320 avg and 20+ SB's. He leads NL hitters in WAR by 0.8 and his wRC+ is a sexy 158. What a steal the Brew Crew got. 2. Is Anthony Rendon the most underrated player in baseball? Don't look, but he's 2nd in the NL in WAR (hitters only). He's averaged 5.8 WAR a season in his 4 full seasons in the majors.
  21. Always thinking Krylian - that's why I like you.
  22. why didn't I think of that! Sandberg was my favourite player when I was 10. Maybe I better knock of the wife again.
  23. Thanks. I took an arbitrary game in 2016 and another from 2018 and it does appear his spin rates are down. However, it also appears his velocity is down too (based on the 2 games I grabbed)....blah - it needs to be able to calculate an average spin rate from date X to date Y to get a better sense.
  24. My bad - here I thought the 52 games his missed this year with a finger contusion (when he got his finger caught in a falling suitcase) would have qualified under "finger stuff" or "finger issues". I'd image the pain, flexibility, strength, etc. from that could impact his velocity. BTW - is there any game by game spin rate stats available to see whether Sanchez has a decreased spin rate since returning from the blister issues?
  25. Well it will be one of the closers that won it (Eck or Gagne) - so I don't think Snell or Sale should be penalized for not throwing 200 innings.
