  1. Well Drury is an infielder playing out of position. I'm fine with seeing what he has too, but not in RF. McKinney - sure, maybe he needs a shot too, but he really doesn't do anything well. At least Davis is a plus runner and defender. If he's somehow a 100 wRC+ hitter, we have a starting CFer. If McKinney is somehow a 100 wRC+ hitter, we have a AAAA player.
  2. I'm just a little surprised we're running someone line Drury and McKinney in the OF instead of seeing what Davis could do.
  3. Holy fist f*** - what a grab my Davis. Is Davis our very own Fisher? A guy who just needs an extended chance to prove himself? I realize he's probably always been old for his level, but at every stop, he's needed that initial season to get settled in, only to tear it up the next year. 2015 A+ : 93 wRC+ 2016 A+ : 142 wRC+ 2017 AA : 109 wRC+ 2018 AA : 134 wRC+ 2018 AAA : 97 wRC+ 2019 AAA : 125 wRC+ He's had good walk rates throughout his career and obviously has great speed and defense. You'd think this s*****, rebuilding team could give him more than 79 PA's over 2 seasons. As a minimum, you'd think he could carve out a career as a 4th OFer.
  4. That's good for the Jays, but bad for baseball.
  5. https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1815031/gossage-calls-modern-baseball-unwatchable-its-like-a-video-game This shouldn't surprised anyone. In other news. Goose hates the clouds also. Sometimes they get dark and he doesn't like that.
  6. I just discovered that Rogers Hornsby only drove in 94 runs in a season in which he hit .424 Based on this...you've have thunk those in baseball would have realized that RBI totals don't really tell us much of anything about a hitters ability. Like seriously...RBI's should have been discredited in 1924 people.
  7. Unfortunately, there are a lot of turds on the top 30 O-Swing leader board. That's even more unfortunately, seeing as Fisher is #26 on the list.
  8. Maybe he's a big Machado fan...
  9. Buck just said that Pillar is having a career year. Obviously he's just looking at counting stats, but f*** me man - stop misleading the casual fans.
  10. I'm not so sure about that if he signs in Toronto...
  11. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=sa917933&position=SS Gavin Lux likes the balls in AAA. Video game #'s
  12. Pearson SWR Manoah Pardinho Those are the potential top of the rotation guys we have in addition to the buttload of #5 types. They won't all work out, but we should be able to integrate them (in a couple of waves) with a few signings/trades to fill out the rotation.
  13. No...it's a real person. Nick Lachey's wife
  14. Interesting take - thanks for sharing. I'm in my late 30's, so not far off you. I'm assistant coach for all 3 of my son's baseball teams, volunteer on the local minor baseball board and still play competitive hardball. I'm on a diamond 5 or 6 nights a week minimum - around the sport non-stop and among all my friends and teammates (who range in age from 20 to 40), I'm the champion for advanced analytics in baseball. I have some who ask me about certain players or Jays prospects and ask what I think about them (looking for a different perspective to what they see or read from the traditional statistics). I think some of the truly believe the advanced analytics work, but most don't really understand them well at all. That said, for the most part, most of the conversations I have with them is s*** like: - shifts are stupid and are ruining the game - why don't players bunt against the shift all the time. That's all I'd do if I were them - I miss all the bunting, stealing and hitting/running - why don't hitters use the whole field - the Jays need a true leadoff hitter. - Sanchez was a stud - he won the ERA title once - I love Pillar. Great defense and a good hitter that gave you 15 hrs a year - what more could you ask for? - the jays need more .300 hitters - why didn't Atkins sign EE and JD long term - what an idiot - why does Jansen keep playing - he can't hit. - this opener thing is stupid. - why did the Jays give away all their good players? - who's Jordan Groshans? It's a cesspool of people who are generally just really ignorant about baseball. I try and help/educate a few of my closest friends, but in general, I simply avoid all baseball discussions altogether. That's what this board is for.
  15. AAA parks are typically smaller than MLB parks? I didn't realise that. It sounds to me like AAA now gets them a lot more prepared to what the MLB is going to be like. On a side note - another question...why is the PCL so awesome for hitters? I know some of the teams play at a higher altitude, but not all of them do right?
  16. I thought Alonso had to finish the season with a WAR >4?
  17. Can someone smarter than me answer some of these questions I have. 1. The 'juiced' ball is in fact simply the ML baseball right? 2. Is there anything to suggest pitchers actually 'adjust' to this new ball and learn how to be effect with it over time? I guess - has there been a pattern of pitchers moving up - getting crushed and then slowly but surely returning to their prior production/effectiveness?
  18. Strong disagree. Most fans are clueless.
  19. I would have thought going against the analytics 85% of the time would endear him to the fan base...
  20. f*** Dick. I found it on the internet. There was a little detective maps with head shots to track the herpes and everything. Do your research bruh.
  21. Not unless he finishes his career the Nelson Cruz / Big Papi / Beltre way
  22. Jeter gave herpes to: Alba Biel Scarlett Johansson Mariah Carey Vanessa Minnillo In turn, JT, Orlando Bloom and Nick Lachey got herpes from these chicks. That's a hell of a list for Jeter. Well done - but wrap it up man!
  23. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/ronald-acuna-and-the-40-40-club/ Interesting article on Acuna's chance to reach 40/40. Also interesting to see the chart showing league average HR's and SB's per 600 PA's. I know it was a different time with guys throwing meatballs and playing against construction workers and dentists, but Ruth hitting 714 career HR's in a time where the average ML player hit 10 per 600 PA's is crazy.
  24. Oh man - I loved watching Kenny lofton play baseball. I have great memories of those early 90's Cleveland teams with Lofton, Belle, Baerga, Thome, Manny, Alomar Jr., Vizquel - all playing before sell out after sell out at the Jake. I was like 11 or 12 at the time. The Jays were winning championships, the Indians were stacked, the Braves were a dynasty, the Mariners (Griffey, Edgar, Buhner, Unit) were awesome, Cubbies were on WGN every afternoon and Frank Thomas had just started to destroy MLB. That's was helped form my love for the game.
  25. It's like you haven't watched Teoscar go from horrid defensively to average over the past year.
