  1. Gregory Soto to the Pirates - 1 year $7.75M
  2. Kyle Finnegan back to the Tigers - 2 years $19M
  3. I assume he means Robert...
  4. Yeah - someone just noted this when summarizing a JS press conference today. Better get Schwarber hooked on that "all fields" approach.
  5. Baseball gods - do your thing...
  6. I agree with this. He had a little Stro in him, which rubbed some people the wrong way - primarily when he stopped being good of course. He had a difficult upbringing and seemed to play with a chip on his shoulder. 2023 was such a bizarre season. He/they kept claiming there was nothing wrong physically, despite the horrendous results. I assume you're suggesting that's when he actually was hurt? He seemed to be turning the corner a bit in 2024 until the elbow blew out. I do wonder if his ego played into his release at all - or if they just had major doubts he'd ever be effective at the ML level again. I originally thought it might be the former, but after Atlanta cut him loose, I suspect it might be the later.
  7. It was an A for effort, D for execution moment. If only he went with "Tires feel pressure - I don't"
  8. A lot of us were keen on him last offseason. Great to see him stay relatively healthy the past 2 years. If he can find a way to suppress the HR/9, he likely still has some upside. Nice little signing for the DBacks.
  9. I preferred reading his summary over opening up another link.
  10. Elly is moving to the OF?
  11. Bonus points to Hernandez for the magic loogie. Olerud's loogies were below average I'm told - Alomar never taught him properly.
  12. Than that moves the needle even more...
  13. Laika - does that factor in that historically, DS has been sheltered in the type of RHP's he faces?
  14. It sounds like Seattle has been unable to unlock his potential to me. Framing can be taught and it sounds like the power is there - he just isn't getting to it consistently.
  15. Maybe Fangraphs should offer addiction support...
  16. You 100% can. I'm sure we all feel that way to some extent. To clarify - when people are suggesting Clement may not have a "starting spot" they say so knowing that the primary utility player (and the 4th OFer) on average receive 500 PA's a year anyway - they play as much as the starters and thus we aren't benching Ernie - he's a massive glue piece for this team.
  17. I was just going to say that Mookie Betts has given fans completely unrealistic expectations on players abilities to change positions mid career. Mookie Betts is a generational mutant. He's literally good at everything he tries. I understand your thought process - and I too would love to see us start Clement in a premiere defensive position to optimize his value. But a move to CF is drastic and highly unlikely to be successful. Also - as much as I love Ernie Clement (and I REALLY do) - he's already entering his age 30 season and will soon start to decline. Just enjoy Ernie for what he is and let him play the super sub role for this team. We already know he's really good at it - no need to f*ck with that.
  18. It certainly seems like there would be no shortage of at bats available for Clement. What an absolute stud he's become. He's the glue.
  19. That is pretty cool. Someone bid the $10K for it.
  20. Utility infielders average 400-500 PA's a year. He doesn't need a "starting spot" to get starter PA's. That said - I'm curious, is there anything to suggest Ernie could be a league average defender at SS?
  21. He's been worth 1.7 WAR on average over the last 3 years. It's a league average bat, .300 OBP and declining defense. Solid piece, but there's not much upside anymore. Probably best as a 4th OFer at this point?
  22. A roster crunch is a sign of a really good team. It's a good problem to have. We may be in a position where we're trading MLB ready talent for young prospects. You see the Dodgers doing this regularly...
  23. That's true - but I have to think they believe they can unlock more value out of him. Otherwise - why be so aggressive to sign him?
  24. The Athletic is reporting that we've put Berrios on the trading block...
