  1. At least Tapia (and the rest of the offense) is pretty hot right now.
  2. Your expectations are unrealistic if you think we're going to have any extended period of time where this many players are on this type of hot streak. I would agree that Vlad and Springer will go through a period where they are hotter than they are right now. But the chances of that aligning with Kirk posting a 307 wRC+, Bo sporting a 194 wRC+, Teo 174, Chappy 160, Lourdes 170, etc. etc. is incredibly low. There is a very good chance this is the best stretch this offense will go through this year - the question is just how long it will last. They are #1 or #2 in almost all offensive categories during this stretch...you think we can do better than that? C'mon man. If you're looking at the season total wRC+ #'s and suggesting Bo and Vlad will finish higher than they are right now, you're right, but typically hitters get hot at different times. Almost the entire team is hot right now. Enjoy it.
  3. Nate Pearson will be our version of Spencer Strider and it will be glorious.
  4. Crazy to think his K/9 was 6.35 as a 19 year old in A ball. Now he's one of the filthiest arms in MLB.
  5. I believe we also had a scouting report from Ang that suggested he wasn't going to be anything special.
  6. Looks like Chapman is starting to get hot. How excited should I get that his BB% and K% are much close to 2018/19 Chapman than the 2020/21 version of Chapman? I just checked and his statcast stats are also very similar to 2018/19 - and he has an elite chase rate (96th percentile), while is contact rate is above 2020/21 - and only a few ticks below 2018/19. Is this some evidence that his hip injury is actually behind him and he's slowly but surely gaining confidence - potentially rounding back into the hitter he was in 2018/19? Or am I grasping at straws?
  7. Did anyone post the Aaron Ashby 97 MPH rising fastball with tailing action? v. the Padres I believe. It looked like a pitch from a blitzball game.
  8. What colour would Jansen be? We need to buy him a 1st base mitt so he can get into the lineup more.
  9. I heard this morning the White Sox were like the 3rd worst offense in baseball v. RHP...
  10. Didn't Votto got like 8 years without having an infield pop-up? That's such an insane stat.
  11. I find it interesting that Kirk can hit high in the order, but we keep putting Jansen down after the wet noodle combo of Chapman and Gurriel. With Springer out, I would have considered batting Jansen leadoff with Bo, Vlad, Teo, Kirk behind him.
  12. I asked 'what the f*** is wrong with you' because your response to my post was about how I can't read - which was childish. Don't call me a troll please.
  13. I can guarantee you this isn't what the Jays should do...
  14. Are you capable of relaying a point without all the swearing and putdowns? It's kind of embarrassing. That said, I can't say I disagree with what you're saying - it has improved of the past few weeks. Can't you just say that and provide some evidence instead of attacking someone? Let's hope this approach continues and the results follow. Pitchers have adjusted to Vlad, let's hope he's now squarely in the process of adjusting back and is about to go on a tear.
  15. What the f*** is wrong with you? Olerud is suggesting Vlad needs to stop swinging at and chasing borderline pitches. All the stats an analysis suggest this is true (which is why he called himself Captain Obvious). You took offense to him suggesting that 1 pitch in his 3 examples wasn't described correctly - and you provided some evidence that suggests you were right (big gold star for you). That 1 pitch was probably right near the border of the 'shadow' and 'heart' zones. You used that to suggest Olerud stop posting ********, called people whiny bitches and suggested everyone sounds like f***ing idiots....which is ironic when you consider you suggested Soto and Vlad are still equivalent. You didn't expand on what you mean by that, but they are the same age and one of them has posted almost 3x the career WAR and has a 20 point lead in wRC+, which suggests, they aren't equivalent at all. You sound like a young child throwing a tantrum. Let it go.
  16. As per Baseball Savant, in 2021, Vlad was in the 69th percentile for Chase Rate. This year, he's in the 30th percentile. In 2021, he swung at 52% of the pitches in the 'shadow', 19% 'chase' and 5% 'waste' and he was at or slightly above league average in all 3 categories. In 2022, those numbers have risen to 56% 'shadow', 27% 'chase' and 9% 'waste'. in 2022, he's below league average for the # of pitches he's swung at in the 'shadow', 'chase' and 'waste' category. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/visuals/swing-take?playerId=665489&playerSet=hitters&year=2021 https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/vladimir-guerrero-665489?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb Pitchers are giving Vlad much less to hit this year and his approach and results are suffering accordingly. He's so good at making contact that he hits those pitches that are close or outside of the zone and the reality is it's really hard to make good contact on those and to do damage. Olerud is correct that until Vlad adjusts his approach and becomes more discipline, we're not going to see 2021 Vlad return. Here's another article that explains it. https://www.mlb.com/news/vladimir-guerrero-jr-needs-to-adjust-to-pitchers
  17. LTBF - Olerud isn't wrong and there's nothing wrong with providing some recent at bats as examples to try and illustrate the areas he needs to improve on.
  18. My first game was back in the early 90's with my parents when the dome was full. I would have been like 10 - 12 years old. We got 500 level nose bleeds and were tucked up in the right center field corner where we couldn't see the jumbotron. It must have rained as I remember the dome opening or closing and we were so close to all the mechanicals components. It was really cool. I took my oldest to see his first game v. the Red Sox 6 years (facebook just reminded me). Jays were down late in the game and I showed him how to wear the rally caps....and wouldn't you believe it, they worked. The Jays came storming back late and walked it off with a Devon Travis grounder deep in the 3rd base hole that he beat out for an infield single. It was an incredible first game and memory for us. I took my youngest son to his first game last year (he was 5). Jays were playing the Red Sox and were down 7-2 at one point. They fought back and capped it off when Springer hit the HUGE 3 run dinger off Barnes to win 9-8. It was equally as amazing! I'm pretty sure my middle son's first game was a Canada Day game with the whole family. Nothing overly memorable from that day other than the red Honda Jays hats we got...and the great show they put on for Canada Day.
  19. What do you guys think of Matt Devlin in the broadcast booth? I think he's fantastic for the Raps and I think he's done a pretty good job so far filling in for Buck. I really like his voice.
  20. Between Carroll, Alek Thomas and Lawlar - the Diamondbacks might have something soon.
  21. Provided the Jays believe Reynolds can play CF at an average rate for the next 3-4 years - then yes.
  22. I won't lie - I'd be super disappointed in Martin if he was still on the Jays. SWR has a 2.39 ERA in AA, but a 4.68 xFIP. Much improved control though.
