Royals acquired OF Drew Waters, RHP Andrew Hoffmann and INF CJ Alexander from the Braves for a competitive balance selection (35th overall) in the 2022 MLB Draft. The deal is now official. The meteoric rise of fellow outfielder prospect Michael Harris II was likely the deciding factor in the Braves' decision to jettison Waters, who was blocked from a clear path to regular playing time in Atlanta in the future. The 23-year-old top prospect will receive a change of scenery after hitting just .253/.311/.411 with six homers and five steals in 52 games this season between High-A Rome and Triple-A Gwinnett. He's been dealt for the 32nd selection in the upcoming 2022 MLB Draft, which carries a slot value of $2.2 million.

Completely agree. But there are several approaches to successfully do this that don't include yelling at adults or embarrassing or calling out players in front of the group. Typically people who lack the skills or abilities to handle difficult situations revert to yelling.

I don't think ripping players new *******s is a good approach. Yelling at adults is often a terrible approach typically used by people without the necessary skills to be a leader. Set expectations and hold them accountable. Is Chucky doing this behind closed doors? I have no idea - nor do you. The FO should have a pulse on that. I don't love Chucky - but I also don't think the blame should be solely on him. I'm just not convinced this team is good enough - especially with this many top players underperforming.

I don't pay attention to any sports interviews. I find almost all of them to be completely pointless. I stopped watching pre and post game shows years ago. That said, I loved Gibby and enjoyed his personality. But interview skills are REALLY low on my priority list for a manager.

That's fair. But honestly I don't give a f*** what any manager says to the media. It's all complete and utter ********. It's like IG filters man - it's all fake and meaningless. IMO, he shouldn't gain or lose credibility for the quality of the made up BS he says in an interview.

I understand that frustration - but what he tells the media v. what he tells the players could be 2 very different things. There's also something about being a leader where you don't get too high or too low. You don't sound the alarm, you calm the ship and find a way to turn it around. I'm sure there are some who think they need that old school manager who's breaking bats in the clubhouse and ripping the guys a new ******* - but I believe studies will show that's counterproductive and positive reinforcement actually works better. Although - perhaps it's regular/daily negativity that doesn't work. Maybe we need to send Billy Beane in the clubhouse to set whomever our version of Jeremy Giambi is straight?

Do you think swinging strike percentage is more important than K/9? Are pitchers who get strikeouts via swinging strikes better than pitchers who get more called strikeouts? Isn't the theory that you simply want strikeouts from your relivers because that means there's less balls in play? Why do we care if that strikeout is produced by swinging strikes instead of called strikes? re: bold - can you show me this evidence? We took acquired Beniot, Grilli and Liriano in 2016 and they were lights out (after being s*** for their previous teams that year). 2017 had Dom Leone come out of nowhere to be dominant and we pulled Joe Smith back from the dead. 2018 we turned around Seunghwan Oh and acquired Ken Giles and turned him back into a stud (until we broke him). 2019 we got great innings out of Wilmer Font and we helped Daniel Hudson turn it around. 2020 was Dolis and Anthony Bass ( we didn't fix Bass, but he was solid for us). 2021 was the emergence of Romano and Mayza and we turned Cimber around. What do the best teams do that we don't do? They turn failed starters into shut down bullpen arms? Is that what you're getting at? That's Pearson and Merryweather (and Romano) for us - I don't know how you blame anyone for what's happened to Pearson - essentially none of his injuries are arm/pitching related. I guess you can say we ought to have turned Anthony Kay isn't Andrew Miller by now?

You keep saying this. Who our of our primary bullpen arms doesn't have swing and miss stuff outside of Cimber? Romano, Mayza, Garcia, Cimber, Merryweather, Pearson, Richards, Phelps, Borucki, Vasquez, Thornton. Full disclosure, I'm looking at K/9 rates, and not swinging strike percentage, but the bullpen they constructed had TONs of guys who've been striking out 9+ in past years.

Looks like the Commish has named Miggy and Pujols to the All Star Game to recognize their contributions to the game. I'm OK with this. Not sure if they'll actually play in the game?

I'm sure the professional is telling them to swing way too hard, take long swings, roll over and pound the ball into the ground - and so far the Jays hitters are executing it perfectly! We should probably fire that guy because he's really stupid.
