    Nootbar + Conforto + Senga = World Series? A bench with Espinal, Gurriel and Biggio has to be one of the deepest in recent memory. That's what a winning team needs!

    Who doesn't like Aaron Jones? The guy is f***ing electric to watch. I've never seen a RB who averages over 5 yards a carry get so little attention. I guess he's like Jamaal Charles a bit? I totally get the hate for AR, but it was nice to hear and see good things with Love (said he's now a master of the playbook). At this point, I hope Rodgers is out for several games so we can see what Love is. Need to figure that out this year. Deal Rodgers in the offseason and let's move on Pack.

    I've thought of this also. If you traded for Nootbar and added Conforto (with Gurriel becoming the 4th OFer/DH), the OF defense would be much improved - whether Springer is in CF or in RF. Springer CF/RF Vlad 1st Conforto LF Kirk C/DH Bo SS Nootbar CF/RF Chapman 3rd Moreno C/DH Merrifield 2nd Espinal, Gurriel, Biggio, Util That's a sick, balanced lineup Bring back Stripling (or equivalent #3/#4 starter - or get sexy and get Senga), fix Berrios, healthy Pearson, win World Series.

    RIP to Gaylord Perry. My middle son's name is Perry and I loosely say he's named after Gaylord (as my other sons are named after Greg Maddux and Josh Beckett). I must admit - I never realized how good Gaylord was. 100.1 WAR for his career.

    All interesting - thanks for providing the breakdown. Oddly enough - Teo was pretty darn close to O'Neill in those metrics (2019 he was 94th SS and 52nd OJ) and he's pretty awful defensively. Cards have rarely used O'Neill in CF to date, so I wonder if he has similar issues as Teo (which I think are primarily instinctual?). It would be fascinating to see what MLB teams use to determine defensive abilities (both current and projected).

    Sorry - O'Neill is their best defensive CFer? Didn't realize that. If he's legit in CF, then I could see them moving Carlson. I'd do Carlson for Jansen and Cimber in a heartbeat.

    Agreed. I understand it's a nice city and the weather is nice if you like it between 12 and 18 all year round. It's not as nice as the weather in LA or SD. Family matters though, so maybe that's a big factor for him. I still think he ends up back in NY. As much as I hate the Yankees, there's something about becoming the next yankee legend that has to be pulling at him.

    This is probably true and the Cards probably don't want to part with Carlson for the same reasons. I think the 'true' CF's reside in Arizona...but they may cost us Kirk or Moreno unfortunately.

    I don't understand the appeal of SF myself. They aren't close to winning are they? ML roster isn't amazing, nor is the farm system.

    Yeah I'm good with that. I'm super curious to see if the Cards value Carlson a lot higher than they do Nootbaar. Cards don't really need/want prospects I suspect, but would people oppose to Jansen + Orelvis for Carlson? Maybe Orelvis no longer moves the needle.

    highly unlikely we'd get Nootbaar + given he has 3 more years of control.
