  1. Rogers stock is down almost 7% from this time last year - so maybe they did...
  2. Oh wow - I figured he would have retired. He mustn't be good with money.
  3. Oh yes - depth is a terrible issue for the Phillies. Timing sucks too as there were some cheap options they could have explored earlier in the offseason (Edwin Ríos, Dom Smith, Luke Voit, etc.). Voit's on a minor league deal, so maybe he ends up in Philly. They are certainly hoping to find someone with a dead cat bounce. I see nobody picked up Miguel Sano this offseason - maybe Phillies give him a chance now.
  4. Jason Heyward has made the Dodgers opening day roster. Apparently the Yankees have upper level support for Volpe to break camp with the team. Wowser.
  5. Phillies seem to have several 1st basemen who are playing other positions. Schwarber, Cast, Bohm - even Harper. Big loss for them. I think Trea Turner may now be my favourite non-Blue Jays player, so I think this sucks for his new team.
  6. I'll maintain my position that Berrios should have gone straight to the lab when the season ended and stayed there all winter/spring.
  7. It does seem insane. I'm sure it should say households also as I have 3 TV's in my own house, but only 1 was on the WBC (only 1 was turned on period) last night. Even if it says households that have TV's (or something) - that seems crazy.
  8. I sure did - although you say that like I'm some stubborn fool. I think part of my resistance was simply knowing that Canada was going to be awful and watching them play other s***** teams like GB didn't appeal to me. Watching a legendary baseball nation like Japan play the US was must watch baseball.
  9. How can you not be romantic about baseball!
  10. You couldn't write up a more captivating script. That 3-2 slider was disgusting. Japan is such an incredible baseball nation. I'm really happy for them. Unreal talent and passion.
  11. I don't know the situation, but some thought it was to manipulate his service time and get another year out of him. I thought the new CBA somewhat eliminated that loophole, but maybe I'm wrong.
  12. That - and March Madness is a pretty awesome event in its own right.
  13. What baseball are they using for the WBC? I assume the one used in MLB? Doesn't Japan use a slightly smaller ball that causes some pitchers issues when they first come over to the states?
  14. I'd support that. I also think Cook has the ability to carry the ball more (similar to Singletary maybe?) than Hines. Agree that both need to improve the pass protection. Here's a little roto/fantasy writeup on Cook While not exactly fantasy relevant outside deep fantasy formats, Cook was quite good as a rookie. On 89 rushing attempts in a split Buffalo backfield, Cook had an elite yards before contact per carry of 3, second among all qualifying backs. He was 19th in yards after contact per carry (2.7) and led the league in PFF's breakaway rate (44.1 percent). Cook acquitted himself well as a pass catcher too. Only nine running backs who saw at least 30 targets in 2022 had a higher yards per route run than Cook (1.7). We could see him take that role for himself with the Bills' signing of early-down banger Damien Harris, a move that should keep Cook's redraft ADP nice and suppressed throughout the spring and summer. Cook was never going to see a massive workload in the Buffalo offense. His best-case scenario -- lead back duties on a potent Buffalo offense -- and his rookie year efficiency give Cook plenty of appeal at what should be a reasonable ADP. And yes - I'm dumn, it's Singletary, not Singleton.
  15. I really agree with this. One of the best things I've done was remove Fan 590 from the preset dial and stopped listening to all pre and post game talk.
  16. I hope baseball fans realize just how special Ohtani is. This is a once in a lifetime talent - one of the most unique and polarizing talents in baseball history.
  17. Well this didn't age well. Bills sign Damien Harris. 2 down back who's produced when healthy. Harris, Cook, Hines seems like a nice mixture of abilities in the backfield.
  18. What an incredible game. I'm invested now. This is so good for baseball.
  19. I didn't realize Singleton was a FA. Texans signed him. Cook better be ready to step up for the Bills - who I would agree now need to add some playmakers to the offense. I've seen Bijan Robinson mocked to them at 27, but also lots of reports that he's a top 5 player in the draft (despite being a RB) and thus they don't expect him to be available in the 20's. Lots of WR mocked in the 20-30 pick range, so could see them add a WR in the 1st and pick up another RB to pair with Cook in the 2nd - 4th rounds. Singleton only got like $3.3M, so it seems doubtful the Bills are looking to sign a RB.
  20. Sorry if I'm ignorant or naive here - but did Ivan Prieto just quit, run away and hide in Miami? Are Cuban players guarded or something while they're in the US?
  21. Don't underrate Gabe Davis. I read that he played through a high ankle sprain last year that wasn't well reported. Diggs, Davis, Knox is plenty good and they've added some new slot guys to help out. Cook also looks ready for a larger role in the backfield.
  22. Don't think I need to. Incredible talent, without much results to date. He must have attitude issues. I also heard he pulled a prank in the clubhouse and told a joke in the dugout last year. That's probably why the Cards didn't win the World Series last year.
  23. Huh? Who's denying that? I think the argument is whether the cliques was causing issues with the teams results or not. Surely there are all kinds of cliques within a large company that don't cause any harm.
  24. Holy f*** - get off your high horse. Pretend I left out the example if you want - I'm just saying the reason why players don't get the most out of their tools might be factors like focus and mental toughness (or some other s***) - which doesn't always have to do with their character, and attitude. But I must be wrong - clearly Teo doesn't work hard and is a lazy POS who's attitude eroded the clubhouse last year. He lucked his way from a guy who got traded away for nothing and turned himself into a 130 wRC+ masher. If you want - O'Neill came to mind simply because he has all kinds of tools - yet had a 101 wRC+ last year and to date, only has 1 above average season under his belt through age 27. Also if you compare O'Neill's 2022 BsR and DEF to Teo's 2021 BsR and DEF, they aren't far off. Yes I'm cherry picking and yes I'd acknowledge that O'Neill is generally a better base runner and defender. f***ing relax.
  25. Bo literally said "we need more maturity" and then said "not that we were immature" - which seems pretty contradictory. Maturity could also simply mean they need more experience playing when we are expected to win, or we need to play more playoff games (which seems accurate, as he references the teams young players). Yes he did suggest they need more professionalism, but he didn't cite who needs that - maybe he's talking about himself, or several other young players on the team. He literally notes that he doesn't know if that was a factor in moving Teo and Gurriel. Those who have been suggesting that obviously want to take Bo's 5 sentences and claim the W. Is there potential that professionalism and changing the clubhouse culture were at play in those trades? Of course there is. But I have no idea if it was 90% factor, or 5% factor. Nobody does.
