  1. Atkins is probably like... "Who are we going to give up for DeJong...hrmmmm, what about that 24 year old reliver in A+ Ball who's throwing well. What's his name again Tinnish? Swami, Slippy, Slappy....Svanson! I was way off"
  2. this didn't age well.
  3. Hey new guy - stop trolling.
  4. My uneducated opinion is there's a good chance Bo is gone for at least a month, so DeJong makes a lot of sense. He's also a lefty killer, so he'd fill a role even if/when Bo returns.
  5. For every Kyle Gibson who's having a good year and providing lots of value for $10M, there is a list of other starters who have been f***ing terrible for $8M-$15M AAV range, including: Andrew Heaney Sean Manaea Martín Pérez Corey Kluber Ross Stripling Matthew Boyd Noah Syndergaard Mike Clevinger Jordan Lyles Jameson Taillon Johnny Cueto Zack Greinke José Quintana To be perfectly honest - almost every FA starter has sucked a bag of dicks this year as you can add Rodon and DeGrom to that list. The FA pitchers having good years and providing value include: Kershaw Eflin Walker Eovaldi Gibson Senga Bassitt Smyly, Dick Mountain and Anderson are kinda of meh. Given the uncertainty of Berrios and Kikucci this year, the Jays couldn't afford to "miss". Did they pay more to get someone like Bassitt with a better history of consistency and durability? I would say yes they did - but thank god they did. Are the O's some brilliant organization because they "hit" on Gibson? I don't think so - I think there's a ton of luck involved as lots of good organizations "missed" on their SPing FA signings this past season. Christ, the Rangers "hit" really well with Eovaldi, but missed on Heaney, DeGrom and Perez. They'd be incredible if the signed Eflin, Senga and Gibson instead of those 3.
  6. Who's suggesting teams can't catch the Jays? Obviously that's a possibility.
  7. DeJong is an interesting option. Obviously SS becomes a big need right now, but DeJong could also fill that void of a RH batting lefty killer (129 wRC+ this year v. LHP). He's not exactly that huge power impact guy on offense, but he could be a fit at a reasonable price.
  8. Oh I agree. I can't believe anyone pays Jeff Blair to talk about baseball. It's f***ing gross.
  9. I can buy into that. There's always an element of risk when you trade for a player. How will that player react mentally? How will they adapt to a new city, team, coaches, etc? There are lots of players who struggle when first acquired (or in their first year with a new team). With Teo, that risk is almost non-existent. I really want to see Teo back in a Jays uniform by the end of today.
  10. I'm expecting to see us trade for Elvis Andrus...Paul DeJong is also a good candidate.
  11. Unfortunately - I have to agree with you on this one. I'll be interested to see how long the O's can maintain this plan. And FWIW, Jeff Blair said Davis Schneider isn't an option on the morning show this morning (although I'm pretty sure he wasn't even 100% sure who Davis Schneider is and was caught off guard when asked about him). He said Schneider is like Nathan Lukes. Had a good year in AAA, but we now see what that amounts to at the ML level - going on to actually say that Nathan Lukes sucks.
  12. They sold Sewald, so you have to think Teo is next. I think they are correctly reading the odds and the ability of their current team and want to take advantage of a sellers market to re-tool. Smart decision IMO.
  13. Alomar has a pretty checkered past man. This wasn't a 1 time thing. Dude's been accused multiple times of sexual misconduct and spreading HIV. Great ball player though.
  14. Should be a good battle down the stretch to see who ends the year with a higher WAR. It's currently 0.9 v. 0.8 with the slight edge to ALL STAR LGR (what a f***ing joke), who now has a wRC+ of 98.
  15. Despite an awful year, he still has a 138 wRC+ v. LHP - so he's potentially still a good fit. Perhaps his overall shittiness means we can get him for nothing? We don't have a lot to trade and I'm not sure there are many options available (that fit our need and price). Someone on here was predicting Teo would challenge for the AL MVP in his 'Contract Year'. So much for that.
  16. I can thank posts off my phone. I just log in through Chrome though, which probably isn't ideal/typical.
  17. It's kind of sad how Miggy just fell off a cliff at age 34. He's been useless for 7+ years now.
  18. what the f*** is this s***? what adult buys posters?
  19. Green essentially played this role in NY for years. He was the guy they relied on to come in during difficult situations and bail them out. He's been one of the best in baseball since 2017. 5th highest WAR amongst relivers between 2017 and 2021.
  20. incredibly - still has a higher WAR than Vlad...almost double.
  21. Thank you gentlemen. We were able to watch tonight and you helped make a 7 year old (who's had a very difficult day) very happy.
  22. Ryu is starting Tuesday v. the O's.
  23. Thanks buddy. He actually broke it last night diving for a ball. 4 week cast and he'll just be back in time for the OBA tournament labor day weekend (+ baseball tryouts and hockey tryouts immediately afterwards).
  24. Can someone post a link to the game? My 7 year old broke his wrist today and is going to be extra pissed if we can't watch Ohtani play the Jays tonight. Thanks
  25. I guess, but I still expect they'll move Stro and Belly. They'd be fools not to (like LAA level fools).
