  1. What would Jays fans be comfortable giving up for Ohtani?
  2. Ricky is the 31st overall prospect in baseball as per MLB.com.
  3. I'd be good with that move. He has a club option for 2024 also for $9.5M
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you one of the posters who complains every offseason that this team doesn't spend enough on the bullpen and should bring in more proven pieces? Or am I mistaking you with someone else? Garcia for $6M is really solid. Look at the guys who got between $2M and $8M last offseaon. It's a pretty gross list. That said, it does look like we have a nice group of RPers coming up through the system and it would be great to add in some cheap, controllable arms so we can allocate $$$ elsewhere and wouldn't expect us to try and keep Garcia beyond 2024.
  5. Again - it's just conversation as this trade isn't happening. But lots of pitchers simply fall off a cliff and never come back. Aaron Sanchez (7th in Cy Young voting one year) and Ricky Romero come to mind for Toronto. Obviously you'd like to shoot higher in your return than India. I agree his peripherals don't suggest a ton of upside (although this year they are a lot close to 2021 than 2022, which is good), but he was the ROY in 2021 and the 5th overall pick in 2018. He as a pedigree. I'm not sure it's true that it's easier to fix pitchers than hitters. I could be though. I just thought it was interesting as Merrifield is a FA after this year, Espy/Biggio suck and while we have guys like Barger/Orelvis/Schneider coming along - we also need to replace our 3rd baseman after this season and well, it's highly possible that 2 of those 3 will be useless (and a possibility all of them aren't ML starters).
  6. There's nobody to blame for Yimi unless you want to blame the team for not identifying that he was tipping his pitches sooner. Other than that - blame variance and bad luck? This is a good pen that's about to get better when Green returns.
  7. I was just meaning to create some conversation for entertainment purposes. Although I would consider moving Manoah in this type of trade if you felt that fat f*** had a low probability of returning to his previous form. Trade him while he still has value. The Reds may be doing the same thing with India...
  8. Harmon made 58 or 59 putts inside 10' - that's insane.
  9. Fully agree, but I do wonder what type of return they could get for India. I'm not sure they're going to get a young, controllable SP who's going to provide immediate help in the playoff run (or the playoffs) this year.
  10. No no, the Braves have a clue and that's why they won't be using Johnson as their secondary closer. This looks like a solid depth move - nothing more.
  11. I know you're trolling and doing a s***** job of it, but Pierce Johnson is 32 and now has like 1/2 a season of closing experience. He's also walking almost 6 batter per 9. Back to your cave.
  12. Reds are indicating that Jonathan India is available for trade and are looking for a young SPer in return. India has 4 years of control remaining. I know this would never happen, but just for fun, would you deal Manoah for India, given we're going to need a starting 2nd baseman moving forward? Manoah's obviously fallen off a cliff, but India's doesn't exactly look like the rising star he did as a rookie and has been a below average hitter now for 850+ PA's.
  13. yikes...what type of sample size is needed to make judgements? It's pretty small isn't it?
  14. I missed the game. Anyone know what his Stuff+ and Location+ in his 1st three starts back? I can never find that info.
  15. I don't know man. $6M doesn't buy you much on the FA market. Here's a list of RP who signed this past season and their AAV. I left out some of the big names obviously, but all these guys ranged from 0.3 to 1.3 WAR in 2022 (Yimi was at 0.9). Matt Moore - $7.55 Adam Ottavino - $7.25 Andrew Chafin - $6.25 Jesse Chavez - $1.2 David Robertson - $10.0 Craig Kimbrel - $10.0 Brad Boxberger - $2.8 Robert Suarez - $9.2 Michael Fulmer - $4.0 Shelby Miller - $1.5 Matt Strahm - $7.5 I don't think you're getting 2 quality arms for $6M this offseason. Yimi is perfectly fine and has pitched great as of late. Don't be fooled by an inflated ERA - it's not 1997. He's not getting DFA'd and he'll be part of the pen next year.
  16. Art wasn't happy about that and has spoken out about the movie several times. They needed his character to resist the analytical movement for theatrics; however, there's certainly a possibility that he didn't initially buy into it (or at all).
  17. Barker posed an interesting question today. If Green comes back throwing well (and possibly Cabrera), would you consider moving Pearson in a deal to get more help for this team? Like Pearson+ for Belly?
  18. We'd have one in Kikuchi too if that happened.
  19. Let's reverse jinx this fat f*** into 7 innings of 1 run ball please.
  20. It was nice of Kelenic to kick the water cool and break his foot - putting him out for the year too.
  21. Kid is dropping his hands. Needs better coaching.
  22. Easy with all the logic there boys - you'll confuse some people.
  23. Says to look at the ML talent, then dismisses that Berrios and Mayza are significantly better this year than last year. Got it.
  24. Huh? The new training facility opened in February 2021. Did the lab help Berrios rebound this year? How about the new Tim Mayza we have? Did he change the break/speed on his slider in the lab? Did it help Ricky T add several MPH? Did it help the bundle of minor league relivers having a lot of success this year? I don't think any of us know because there's little information about who's in it and how it's being used. That's why I'm not sure how people make any definitive opinion at this point.
