    If by "most" you're talking about people in the general public, then yes, that's probably true. But it's also true that the vast majority of the public (or, let's refer to them as casual fans) are ignorant and stupid. Why on earth would you poll the public or give a f*** what they think? (and yes - that's essentially what democracy is, but that's another discussion altogether). If you polled those within a knowledgeable baseball circle, I suspect most would suggest Atkins has done a solid/good job to date. We've circled around the value of playoff wins far too often. I don't think you grasp the subject very well, so let's leave that one alone. Just know that it's not as cut and dry as you believe.

    You can have mine if you want it. I was kind of sick of non-stick pans and I'd heard all these great things about cast iron pans (no chemical coatings, better flavor, etc. I watched videos on people cooking steaks in them and they looked amazing. I thought I'd look like a f***ing BOSS with one, so I bought it. What I failed to realize is that my wife does most of the cooking and she had ZERO interest in learning how to use it, how to clean it, how to store it, etc. I gave it a half assed effort, but didn't realize how f***ing heavy they are and how vitally important it is to make sure they are 100% dry before you store them. I also didn't find the taste of my food to be noticeably better anyway. Mine is now all rusted out and a POS. It's so disappointing that I can't be a cast iron pan snob like I'd hoped to. Instead, I've done a bit more research on non-stick pans (and that technology continues to improve) and trained my wife better. It works for us. tldr - I'm too busy and don't give a f*** enough to look after a cast iron pan and I didn't think the difference in taste wasn't worth prioritizing that time.

    I believe it's accurate to say there are microplastics in a ton of s*** now and we are in fact ingesting more than ever before. I'm not sure if the concentrations are higher in animal feed or not - I'm pretty sure it's not being intentionally added at least (which is what I thought you were originally saying - but maybe not). I also prefer the ignorance is bliss approach.

    I hate to say it, but I think there's a good possibility we miss out on Ohtani and Soto. I also think there's a decent possibility that long term, we're better off to have missed out on both. Most fans are going to be pissed off though.

    Where are you getting this information about pumping them full of hormones? The USDA has banned all hormones and steroids in poultry since the 1950s. No hormones or steroids are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for use in poultry, and doing so via the water, feed or injection is specifically prohibited by law. Also, Canada banned the use of hormones in Canadian poultry on March 4, 1963.. And of course companies have been promoting that they are selling chicken that's been raised without the use of hormones, which is a f***ing dirty tactic, because all chickens are raised without the use of hormones - they are just feeding off the idiots who believe internet memes - including the one that woman's breasts are getting larger these days because they eat so much chicken with hormones in it.

    Oh is that the only measure of a team's success? Then yes, I remember when the Blue Jays won a total of 4 playoff games and 0 division titles in the 80's (despite 7 straight years > .500). It was a f***ing glorious time to be alive. "It doesn't get any better than that".

    Isn't a >.500 record for 4 straight years and a playoff birth in 3 of the last 4 years (while missing a clean 4 for 4 by 1 game) a sustainable winner? I mean the Jays haven't been >.500 for 4 straight years since that run from '83 to '93. But yeah, that POS GM who hasn't even acquired a guy like Soto should be s*** on for potentially trading for him?

    If your point is that Gillick found a way to win the World Series - then go with that man. He sold out everything he could to bring home 2 titles and flags fly forever. Nobody would disagree with that. Suggesting he convinced people to come here for nothing was your mistake, because, well, it wasn't true. Using trade as an example is also stupid, because, well, you don't convince people to come to Toronto via trades.....The example of convincing players to come to Toronto for "next to nothing" would be a FA who signs well under market and well, I don't think there are many examples of Gillick doing that.

    You just provided your own example, where Gillick gave up a future HOF player for a rental, when you are trying to suggest that Gillick convinced players to come here for "next to nothing". It's mind boggling how stupid this is. The multi-quote feature has you all f***ed up too...just a train wreck.

    Yeah, my son and I both really enjoy Mary Brown's. The sandwiches and tenders are great and I enjoy their wedges. That said, I f***ing love Popeyes also.

    I suspect because they think he'll provide them with more value at 2nd base and feel that either internally or externally, they can find a RF to replace Betts a lot easier than they can find a starter at 2nd base?

    I hope Big Country didn't. But he also wasn't on the Indians in the mid 2000's. Hafner was brought in to replace Thome.

    Hafner was a f***ing beast. Those mid 2000 Indians teams were fun with Hafner, Sizemore, Victor Martinez, Shin-Soo Choo, Coco Crisp, Jhonny Peralta, CC, Cliff Lee, etc. I love going back in the way-back machine to look up old teams like that. Thanks.

    OK - so I may be a big low. Says it's 10 years $450M. I think there's a lot of value in getting Soto from age 25-35 instead of getting Ohtani from age 31-40

    Dare I say it, but I think there's a good argument that trading for Soto and signing him to a 10 year $350M deal may be better than signing Ohtani to a 10 year $600M deal. I f***ing LOVE Ohtani, but the age difference is huge. Soto is just so legit. To have him from like age 25 to 35 would be unreal. Offensively, he's equal to Ohtani IMO. He just falls short on the bases - and well, he can't pitch. He also sucks defensively, but if Ohtani is pitching, then he's a DH so he doesn't help there either. I'm not 100% convinced teams are going to get a ton of value out of Ohtani's arm moving forward. I think there's legit concern that he may not remain an elite pitcher or stay healthy enough to give you say 700+ innings over a 10 year deal.

    Maybe? I don't know how much things like "pressure to be the alpha" actually influence a players performance. I don't think having Ohtani in the Jays lineup would hurt Vlad at all.
