  1. Facts don't mean a lot to those people. Yimi came in and shut the door like a boss.
  2. Who would you bring in right now?
  3. Picking up his teammate who made a mistake. That's good baseball.
  4. and you said "we've" seen enough of him and group him in with f***ing Espinal. That's stupid. He's hit well for 4 months now after a very slow start.
  5. Since May 1st, Biggio's hit better than Vlad, Springer, Whit and KK
  6. Well there's a great example of the pot calling the kettle black...
  7. hitting coaches don't make a difference. It's the players. Of course you trade all the bums, send a message, but we all know that's easier said than done. They have to want to be champions. I've seen very little to suggest some of these players want to win. Vlad is the prime example.
  8. How soon are we to having Dan and Ben Shulman calling games for the Jays? I've enjoyed listening to Ben on the radio this year.
  9. The reality is our offensive players are f***ing over this team and we probably don't deserve to make the playoffs. Massive Disappointments: Vlad Springer Kirk Jansen Varsho Chapman The only bats who have met or exceeded expectations are Bo, KK, Whit and Belt. This team was a very deep, well constructed team, but very few teams are able to overcome 6 starters who have significantly underperformed with the bats. The players simply need to play better.
  10. Yep - same program that Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson were on eh?
  11. This - 100%. You're fooling yourself if you expect to see Chapman, Belt, Merrifield and KK back next year. I'd be surprised if we keep 1 of those guys, regardless of whether we miss the playoffs or win the WS this year.
  12. Man - I was just looking at Mookie's stats and thinking, "what a f***ing stud that guy is". Already up to 57 career WAR by his age 30 season and perhaps still getting better. His bat is incredible, he's playing SS, 2nd base and RF. One of the very best athletes of our generation IMO (look at how he excelled in other sports - and still does in bowling). This is the type of franchise player you never let go. Red Sox are COMPLETE morons and I'd bet he retires a Dodger - probably as a legendary Dodger player. For a second, I though - I wonder if he's starting to 'catch' Trout. NOPE. Trout is at 85 career WAR through his age 31 season. I think sometimes people forget just how good Trout is. It's a f***ing shame to see his body start to break down on him. With health, this is a guy who may have retired with a career WAR in the 140 range. Even with the injuries, we may still be looking at 110ish. To put that into perspective: Arod - 114 Pujols - 89 Miggy - 68 Griffey - 78 Jeter - 73 Bagwell - 80 Chipper - 84 Beltre - 83 Those are the best players of my youth.....I'm in awe really. Then I consider the GOAT himself. Bonds - 164!!!! If we could rewind to 2019 before COVID and injuries, Trout would have had to average 7.2 WAR over the next 13 years (playing through age 40) to catch Bonds in career WAR.
  13. Who was the ump last night and where is his scorecard? I didn't get to watch much of it, but I saw the Biggio at bat and the Belt at bat in the 8th and I think that Angel Hernandez wanna be ********** got the call right about 30% of the pitches I saw. Was it that bad all night?
  14. I don't know then. wRC+ is meant to normalize all the variables and a 104 wRC+ isn't as outstanding as his .OPS would suggest.
  15. Primarily his ass and his belly.
  16. Man this team is frustrating as s***. That said, what I find hilarious is that for YEARS, people were complaining the Jays relied too much on home runs and our offense and pitching/defense were secondary. Fans complained that style of offense and team approach wouldn't work in the playoffs, while others defended it by suggesting run differential is run differential. Now we're 17th in home runs, (9th in wRC+), with great pitching and defense and everyone is losing their minds because the offense is so s***** and hard to watch. I'm at the point where I'm done watching for the year. It's f***ing painful watching losers like Vlad everyday - but the reality is that if we can sneak into the playoffs, we know the pitching and defense has the ability to reek havoc. Either way, it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
  17. That's often been the case. However, AAA is typically full of AAAA players and veteran minor leaguers. Guys who really know what they are doing (albeit with less talent than the "prospects" in AA). Obviously the Bisons play in a ton of bandboxes though because an .857 OPS is only good for a 104 wRC+
  18. Start Belt at 1st and DH Babe Schneider. Vlad is killing this team with his play and shouldn't be in the lineup. He can hang out with Manoah and reconsider his life.
  19. Just because it worked this time doesn't mean it's the right move. Adapt or die. It also helps when Angel Hernandez, or an Angel wannabe is the umpire and is f***ing turrrrible at his job. What a f***ing joke.
  20. Everyone hits a s*** ton at Buffalo/AAA it seems. I mean it's great to see, especially at his age and given how poorly he's played/adjusted when moving up a level in the past. He somehow has a BABIP >.300 and the power numbers are there, but we do need to take the results with a grain of salt. Nathan Lukes is a .331/.410/.543 BEAST in AAA this year.
  21. McGriff finally getting in should open the door for Votto to get in. Votto has more WAR, a higher career wRC+ and won the NL MVP. He doesn't quite have the longevity of a McGriff, nor the counting stats, but I think we're finally moving past that a bit. He'll fall just shy of .300/.400/.500 (just missing on the .300 average side). He was one of the best hitters of his generation. I would bet he doesn't make it in on the first ballot though (for reasons I think are really stupid).
  22. Unfortunately, no dead cat bounce for Votto this year. His contract will be up (assuming Reds decline the club option). Is he done? Will he retire at the end of the year? I'll never forget that HR he crushed v. the USA in the WBC at the dome. The dome was shaking.
  23. Castellanos is an interesting comparable. After some very good seasons in 2018-19, he was s*** in 2020, then great in 2021. So 3 great hitting seasons and 1 s***** one and he got paid. Of course there was an argument to forgive his shittiness in the Covid 2020 season. Teo was great from 2020-22, then has s*** the bed this year. So 3 great hitting seasons and 1 shittier one. I don't think Teo will get anywhere near what Castellanos got though. I think there's a real possibility he wants a pillow deal. Like 1 year $10-15M
