  1. Springer is an interesting case. The guy has been a f***ing stud with the bat his entire career and even while battling through multiple injuries in 2022 was still great. This year he's seemingly been as healthy as ever. Legs seem fresh with a career high in SBs, but his power disappeared. His max EV is as good as ever, but the average EV is down. Most of his other metrics like chase rate, whiff%, etc. are very good (better than 2021, 2022). He could very well be declining, but I don't expect him to fall off a cliff. I expect the projection systems will peg him as a 120-125 wRC+ hitter and a 3-4 WAR corner OFer in 2024.
  2. What really sucks is that there's a good probability that if you had the exact same lineup in 2024, there's a good chance that most return back to their career norms and this is a top 5-10 offense. Of course the likelihood this pitching staff repeats is probably really low. That's baseball unfortunately.
  3. Man - you're still struggling to understand this concept eh? That's too bad. But it seems unlikely this team will make the playoffs unfortunately, so enjoy your time in the sun and take a lap or 2 to remind everyone how smart you are when you told people that losing games was bad. The team clearly should have hit the panic button in May and traded for more offense. I mean one could suggest the Jays front office prediction models (along with all the other recognized public prediction models) were pure s*** and the team ought to have known that Vlad, Kirk, Springer, Varsho, Jansen, Chapman and Espi would all drastically underperform this year and they ought to have made moves earlier to add offense. I guess that's the angle you take on this one if you want to hate on the FO. Fire the nerds and their spreadsheets. I would render a guess that if you ran simulation models on how much this offense would produce - the actually results are in down in the 25th percentile. It really sucks, as this is a very good, deep team that simply couldn't score enough runs. Take a slow victory lap man - you won. I can't wait to hear all the future warnings and predictions from you. You've earned my respect.
  4. I agree with this wholeheartedly. I wonder if there was more to this in the background as that's unlike Atkins.
  5. When was the last time a ML star player asked for a trade and was traded? I'm drawing a blank. Don't think it happens often - this isn't the NBA. Also, no FO in baseball would have predicted that Springer, Vlad, Kirk, Chapman, Varsho and Jansen (to a lesser extent) would underperform this year offensively. I find it difficult to blame this FO. If 3 of those 6 perform to expectations, we're firmly in the playoffs right now. The players deserve the blame.
  6. It's just another irrational comment from a frustrated fan who doesn't get it.
  7. Kirk's 2022 statcast page was full of beautiful red colours, regardless of a hot start and slow finish. It was glorious. Now it's all grumpy bear blue FFS. His max EV went from 63rd percentile down to 32nd and his average EV went from 78th percentile to f***ing the 19th percentile. Disgusting.
  8. It's such a polarizing trade. Hard to know exactly which catchers to keep, which catchers that teams wanted and what they were willing to give up. We all need to keep in mind that this team needed a CF of the future and they are costly to acquire. SD had to give up Urias, who was once the 23rd overall prospect in baseball and Eric Lauer (25th overall draft pick) to get Trent Grisham - and Grisham wasn't coming off 2.3 and 4.8 WAR seasons. I'm happy to see Moreno having success in the 2nd half. Good to see his ISO > 0.100 (as I don't think he'll amount to anything as a starter with an ISO <0.100) finally. Hope the trade works out for both teams and expect it will to some extent.
  9. Insert "that's the joke" gif
  10. Agreed. The issue is who plays SS with Bo out. Espi is on this team almost solely because he can play SS. I'd like to see them roll with Clement and see what happens.
  11. Now that would add some entertainment value.
  12. That's a good way to put it. I mean obviously Cabrera isn't this good, but in SSS, you never really know what you're going to get. A good example of how sometimes the results are out of the GM's hands.
  13. 1. Everyone expects LF, 2nd and 3rd to look dramatically different next season - Chapman, KK and Merrifield all look like poor options to re-sign. 2. Washington was a mess that needed to rebuild. And trading Mookie Betts was a crippling move by the Red Sox. They didn't have to move him, they f***ed up by giving other players too much and it's blown up in their face. Trading Bo and Vlad right now would be similar to the Astros trading Kyle Tucker and Bregman. Or the Brewers trading Burnes, Woodruff and Williams. Find the 90+ win team that's right in the middle of their contention window that is trading their best player. I mean obviously there are risks in keeping our top players as they approach free agency and if we do lose them for nothing (and can't replace them with FA's) than that would certainly push us into a rebuild/retool phase - but throwing in the towel right now sends a terrible message to the team and to future FA's. It seems highly doubtful that any GM in baseball would do that with this team.
  14. This would certainly seem like a good time to roll with Clement and see what happens. Hard to be worse than Espi right now.
  15. It's tongue in cheek you moron. People running on the field are the worst though. If you don't want them shot live, while they are running on the field, then just shot out their kneecap in the back of the stadium after they are caught by security
  16. What the f*** is wrong with people? I fully support snipers just shooting fans that run onto the field. Blow up their knee caps or ankles.
  17. It really isn't confirmation at all. Do you think he's going to throw Espi under the bus and say "He's an idiot, we didn't want him swinging 3-0" or "he missed the take sign"? The only confirmation is that you're drawing conclusions from manager interviews and that's stupid. On a side note, do teams give the "take sign" or "green light sign" on every single 3-0 count? I'm not so sure they do.
  18. He says so many dumn things. It hurts my head.
  19. Do you expect him to say "I don't trust my dudes" or "these guys f***ing suck"? Reading into what a manager says in an interview is f***ing stupid. Don't do it.
  20. Go do some research on clutch hitting and lineup protection please.
  21. Jesus you say stupid things a lot.
  22. What? the inning is typically irrelevant. It's the situation for relivers.
  23. you know, you could go look at his career stats and temper your expectations of what Chapman is. He's been this player his entire career and he's very good.
