  1. you and only you I suspect.
  2. They don't arrive via horse and buggy...
  3. Donaldson is hitting .160 this year. His douche level should be dropping like a rock and he should be grateful he's still getting paid to play baseball. Unsurprising that it hasn't.
  4. Wouldn't players who the Jays may still need at some point go down to Dunedin and continue to train and stay in game ready shape at their training complex?
  5. I think the location of Rogers Center boosts it up. Although it's still a 'trip', a quick trip up the 400 to Vaughan where I jump on the subway and cruise the rest of the way to Union Station, followed by a short walk seems really stress free and easy for me and the family. It's right in the heart of the city, so casuals can drop in and there's always lots to do for the kids nearby and lots of places to eat/drink. I also love taking the train from Barrie to Union. You hear a lot of people complain about stadiums built out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by parking lot. I think that's a huge negative.
  6. I have to agree with Joe. Based on those few photos, Vlad is still not turning the barrel and getting behind the ball like he was in 2021. That steep, hit down, create backspin swing isn't a great approach. Swing like Barry Bonds and Ted Williams FFS.
  7. This updated ranking has the Rogers Centre 23rd, ahead of Yankee Stadium. Most lists put us somewhere in the 20's. It will be interesting to see where we land after the lower level reno. https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/best-mlb-stadiums-ranked-2023-edition-baseball-ballparks My point being that it's not noticeable enough for me to complain about or suggest it's awful. I certainly thought Camden and PNC were absolute beauties and I liked the history of Fenway and Wrigley (did a tour there - didn't catch a game). Philly, Cincy, Cleveland, Washington? Meh - all solid in their own right, but I wasn't like "oh wow - these are so much better than the Rogers Centre".
  8. I've been to Boston, NY (Yankee Stadium), Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cincy, Washington, Cleveland and Philly and I haven't once thought to myself that the Rogers Centre was a s***** stadium experience. I think the improvements this year are fantastic and can't wait to see them rebuild the lower level.
  9. Yes - that may be one of the least controversial statements made on this board.
  10. I was an avid White Sox fan from about 1991 through 2014 before officially cutting ties with them - so I think they're down to 11 fans now.
  11. Cool story - this guy looks absolutely filthy. Where is Ricky T to be 'that guy' for us in the playoffs? https://blogs.fangraphs.com/hes-thrown-one-major-league-inning-is-orion-kerkering-already-one-of-the-phillies-best-relievers/ This guy could have a K-Rod type impact in the playoffs as a rookie.
  12. I had the same experience. I loved my trip to Boston and would love to go back.
  13. Will Acuna challenge Jeff Bagwell's record for the most run scored in the modern era? Needs 9 more to tie Bags at 152. 40/70 season with almost 150 runs scored, 100 RBI's and a .330+ average is f***ing insanity. I love it. No idea how this guy cut his K% from the mid 20's to like 11% this year.
  14. I know we've seen catchers go from being terrible framers to top notch framers in a single offseason, so unfortunately there's a good chance we traded away Yadi. I'm curious to see where he ends up with the bat. It's been a lot better this year than I expected.
  15. I mean - if you ask Buck Martinez, I think there's a 90% chance he says pitching & defense wins championships...
  16. Aren't the pitches where the circle is filled in actually considered strikes? It's a ball when the circle remains empty. That's a s***** video. I have to think Biggio is #2 in baseball - or at least Top 5.
  17. 4th quarter this week was much better Spank!
  18. Interesting that everyone considers him a platoon bat. Career wRC+: v. LHP - 102 v. RHP - 105 And it's no different this year...
  19. That would be great, but Bo's career ISO is only .188. Vlad's is only .210. I don't think we'll ever see Biggio's ISO above .200. If we do - he's going to be a stud and a fulltime starter.
  20. That all sounds great Jonn - but the likelihood of this happening is probably in the 10% range. You'd be selling low on Varsho and taking a huge risk on KK, who'll probably command a multi year deal, is incredibly injury prone and entering his age 34 season. I love KK, but your proposal just doesn't seem plausible. This team needs some stability in CF and Varsho projects to be a very solid CFer moving forward. What most are suggesting isn't bold at all - it's logical.
  21. I'm not so sure this is true. Yes, we got that from KK this year, but CFers who can give you 2.5 WAR aren't often available on short terms deals. The only reason KK was is because he came with a ton of risk (injuries, decline, age, etc.). Who else are you signing to play CF? Adam Duvall? Look at the cost to acquire guys like Harrison Bader, Trent Grisham, etc. Look at what Starlin Marte cost. I don't think it's a good strategy to suggesting you can simply go sign a great defensive CF with an average bat for $4-5M per WAR like it's no big deal...
  22. Funny should should say that. Along the same lines, supporting him and denouncing ignorant criticism also doesn't make you a homer...
  23. That sounds like something the "it's still early" crowd would say...
  24. I think you'd have a lot more success if it were their teammates who came to them and said this wasn't acceptable. The vets should be all over these guys - explaining this may be their last chance at a championship and their fitness level is diminishing the chances. Teammates holding each other accountable is often 10x more successful than coaches telling them.
  25. I think that's the point. You need them to stay in shape during the offseason. Your only leverage is to tell them that if they show up to camp 30 lbs overweight that you'll send their ass to AAA (or trade them?). But if star players show up 30 lbs overweight and you want to send a message by optioning them to AAA - that's going to have a major impact on your ability to have success and will have a huge impact on your relationship with that player. You can't just option Vlad, Manoah and Kirk to AAA and expect to replace them on the big league roster. Even if you did - it will take a long time for them to get back in shape and get recalled (I guess if we're talking 5-10 lbs, maybe that's easier to drop quickly?). You can suggest the organization should set the tone that they won't stand for players coming to camp overweight and pound their chests like they have so much power - but she's a lot harder to do when it actually happens with some of your best players that you were counting on to be stars in a year you're chasing a championship... I'm not sure anyone was ready for the Jays to 'throw' 2023 to prove a point to the 3 chubbies.
