The fact Straw gives him the time of day is embarrassing. If Straw wants to help the team, then be the vet who has the honest conversation with Vlad about making changes. Maybe try being a bit more serious and ending the stupid gatorade jug dumps. WHY NOT? Why the f*ck wouldn't he try something different? Clearly what he's doing isn't working. I mean obviously there's a possibility Straw has done this and Vlad told him go fly a kite, or that they honestly believe Vlad is doing everything possible to get on track - but I'm not sure I buy that. He's been a low IQ player for years - one with seemingly no ability to make the necessary adjustments to reach his potential. It's super sad. I mean thank god he gave us his best in the playoffs last year. That does mean something to me, but otherwise, he's been far too inconsistent for a "star". Also - Straw has always been a hot head with fans. Remember when he was trying to fight fans in the stands? Little man syndrome. I don't even particularly like Sid, but there's no reason for Straw to get involved. Media is always saying unnecessary things to gain views and clicks. Christ - half the fans also hate players at times. How to you get baited into that as a professional?

That's just a narrative you make up in your mind to hate on me. Show me a manager you think has perfected the art of making their team/players avoid bad/stupid decisions please. I just don't buy that fixing baseball IQ and/or avoiding stupid decisions is something managers have a lot of control over. Sure - it starts with accountability and a culture, but as I've stated before, I rarely, if ever, see managers pulling players from games when they make a mistake like that. If there were managers/teams that regularly did this and accomplished sustained and clear signs of running a "tight ship" with much fewer mental errors - real evidence, then I'd buy it. But I've yet to really see that. You just think the players are all stupid and the manager makes all kinds of stupid decisions because you watch the Jays daily. If you followed another team as close, I fully expect you'd find yourself whining and *****ing about the same things.

One guy wants to fire the manager for this, the other the 1st base coach. That's 100% on Lukes guys. Pillar even explained that to you on the post game... Lukes is our heart and soul guy. A guy who makes limited mistakes and generally has a high baseball IQ. It's a good reminder that even guys like him will make mistakes. It just came at the worst possible time. I hope scapegoating the wrong people makes you feel better.

Cleveland looks a lot like the 2026 Blue Jays. Great pitching, good pen, terrible offense, struggling superstar. Kwan's power is completely gone. He's walking his way to a 109 wRC+. J-Ram's power is also MIA. Age may finally be catching up with him. DeLauter is the only legit bat in the lineup, although it appears they bought Jo Adell at the right time, as he's been hot for them. Adell blows goats, but he does have power and can go on a hot streak. Bazzana's just a league average bat at this point and every other regular they have can't hit. It's pretty sad that might be good enough to win a division and/or make the playoffs. The state of the AL right now it seems. Wild stuff.

Man - we dumped Jansen at the right time. His power and defense completely eroded as soon as he left Toronto. All 4 of these guys suck goats this year (now?)

Little threw 3 2/3 innings when the season mattered. They gave him a bracelet man - and he was godawful, after looking dominant in spring training...

He'd been pitching a lot better as of late and if you squinted, you could see a rotation of Cease, Soriano, Bieber (and Yesavage?) giving us a chance to win a series if we made the playoffs. Remember that the run needed to make the playoffs was going to happen about once in every 20 attempts. Very high probability we fall short. Just be happy we're playing some meaningful games at this point. I don't think anyone expected that 3 weeks ago. You're just cherry picking different dates than I was. My numbers are factual and don't lie - he's been bad since June 15th and just league average since May 10th. You want to slice those number down into 1 month intervals? Go for it, but Otto Lopez hasn't gone from someone with B2B 92 and 86 wRC+ seasons to some 140 wRC+ stud. True talent as he enters his prime is likely a 100 wRC+ bat. Start of Season to May 9th: 148 wRC+, .411 BABIP (165 PAs) May 10th to now: 99 wRC+, .302 BABIP (386 PAs) Still a very good player, but he's no superstar.

Otto Lopez has cooled off a ton as of late. Just a 91 wRC+ since June 15th and just 99 wRC+ since May 10th. Down to 114 on the season. He's obviously still having a great season, but it's inflated by a hot start that was buoyed by an unsustainable BABIP.

What I like is you don't have to commit for 3+ years. Gausman on a 1 year deal would be perfect. Giving him a 3 year deal comes with a lot more risk. The talk of a qualifying offer is also based on Bieber pitching strong down the stretch and potentially into the playoffs for us. Nobody is suggesting he's a lock to get one on August 21st. The thought was - instead of giving him away for a bag of chips at the deadline, keep him and if he knocks of the rust and pitches great down the stretch, he could help us go on an improbable run for the playoffs and becomes a QO candidate. So far so good IMO.
