    So if Garcia contract was a team option at 6.3m rather than a vesting one, you would have picked it up ? And you think Atkins would have as well? I don’t think that would have been the play ( unless you felt you could trade him) Espinal would totally be trade bait if Kim was obtained , no? I’d love 9m at the deadline to fill holes rather than Garcia and espinal, that’s not throwing away assets. I’d barely even describe the as assets. 9m gets you about a 20 year salaried player on expiring contract. That’s a good bat or sp.

    Just don’t include espinal and Garcia , thereby freeing up 9m dollars to spend elsewhere because that would make the deal horrible for the jays.

    There is no way BetAtkins keeps his attitude around for four years. First decent offer he gets, I think manoah is moved. Either a good season and sells at a higher value or he stinks and is banished to AAA waiting on injuries to get another chance. I’d think he’d be on a short leash next year.

    Bassitt put up a 2.6 WAR last year , it would be shocking to me to get a year like that out of manoah. Bassitt only projected 2.4 this year, berrios 2.3 I’d def do Kim and Cronenworth for a nothing sandwhich if they are willing. (Adds 19m to budget this year)

    You very well could be right. I’m also in the mode of “I’ll believe payroll increases when I see it” Hopefully in conjunction with the renovations though this will occur. I don’t think an offseason of IKF and KK moves the needle. Telling fans, I know vlad sucked for nearly 700 ab last year but this year he is going to be 4x better. You have to trust us on that. Fangraphs said it. Lot of off-season still left though. Hopefully 2 more bats. I am encouraged by Horwitz 1.0 OPS VS Rhp in AAA last year though.

    Mlbtv has this deal off by 1.0 Manoah Espinal Garcia For Kim Espinal plus Garcia salary 1m more than Kim I think. Would you do that? I think I would as I see upper minors bullpen as our strength.

    I’d take 11 starts with a 3.46 era/1.28 whip rookie season from Ya-Rod. That’s what ryu contributed last year. On paper, I easily take last years team over this team but off-season isn’t over yet by any means.

    Get soler, trade yimi and sign a lefty masher OF. Thats if they truly aren’t going to go over the tax level 18m or so from now. It would be crazy if they had 0 to spend at deadline though, which inevitably would put us past that tax level anyhow. I think Chapman at 1/20 is still in play if still avail later ala semien.

    Talking up manoah only to stick him in AAA to start the year is just passive agressive enough for AlphAtkins. He surely would prefer to trade him after manoah showed him up, but Manoah nuked his value.

    He’s ……22 though. Thats old for a teenager. Jays have moved him off ss, and most likely off 2b from everything I read with 2b being best case scenario but most likely LF/dh You read anything rosier?
