    Here's a simple idea. Just remove that word from your vocabulary. I mean, you can continue to use that word and try to put it in some context that you think is acceptable, but it's inevitable that some may not see that context, or may not care what context it's used in and will take offense to it. I don't think it's such a powerful word that you NEED to continue using it. Some seem hellbent on "saving" words that they used to use - simply because they don't want people who are offended by those words to "win". It's a stupid fight. It doesn't take a lot of effort to just stop using words that offend people. It's a minor inconvenience when you think of all the suppression of certain groups over the past 50-80 years. Evolution of our society is a good thing.
