  1. Couldn't this be mitigated (the risk I mean) by naming P(s)TBNL, and then saying okay, if he pitches in August here's Pool A to draw from. If he misses all of August here's pool B to draw from? Of course, the medicals, too.
  2. Bwahaha. Perfect. I also have used keyword "MLB pipeline"
  3. I knew the Padres has a stacked system, but holy f*** I had no idea HOW stacked: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2839611-ranking-all-30-mlb-farm-systems-post-2019-mlb-draft#slide30 Also a good write up on the former Mets prospect Kay, before he sucked ass in AAA. I know it's not PC, but the Stroman trade has really grown on me.
  4. I still really like him, I'm just not sure what roll he's best suited for. I'd love to start him the remainder of the season to see what we have there.
  5. I think a B- is a fair assessment. between the two top 10 prospects we've added to our group, and the two pitchers from the lower minors we'll get from Tampa in the Sogard trade, we've certainly added a ton of pitching in the minors. If we can get something decent for Giles, perhaps another decent pitcher or two, I would give this season's trade deadline take a B+. We've addresses a need as well as we could. Without the benefit of hindsight. With guys like Zeuch and Manoah, etc., I have way fewer concerns about out 2020+ rotation. And I hope with Sanchez improving, and arb4 on Shoemaker available for 2020, that they provide the value to get even more decent trade chips to add to our team next July. I really like how this is playing out.
  6. Giles may be hurt.
  7. Yeah, not signing Bautista to a 8-year, $150M contract was a big one for me.
  8. More now in hindsight, certainly. And as many have discussed, I get the feeling Rogers was pushing for another try-to-be-competitive year with JD, so selling JD before the 2017 season was probably not an option. Unless there was a mind-blowing trade offer.
  9. Is there a chance we see him, and maybe Manoah, by this June? Or are they to make their debut in June, 2021? Maybe Pearson in 2020, Manoah in 2021. I lump them together because it sounds like Monoah doesn't need a lot of seasoning. May be a reach.
  10. How is it silly? Someone who works hard to improve versus, say, a guy like Panda should age better. I'll bet there is a strong correlation. Moreso than most other factors.
  11. Mine isn't. If we trade him for exciting prospects, I am down with that. But he is a really solid SP that wants to play here. two rare commodities at the moment.
  12. I am not suggesting a 10-year contract. He is only 28. I would sign a 6-year, though, that covers arb4.
  13. I have always wanted to extend Stro. My fear in signing a player to a big, fat contract is complacency. The player stops really trying and just takes the money and runs. With Stroman, I can't see that ever being an issue. He will always find ways to try 100% and improve, even when his velo fades. He's a guy who can always re-invent himself and perform at a high level for many, many years. I don't want to trade that for uncertainty.
  14. Hah, just saying he should have been DFAed eons ago. But he finally looks effective, hits 97 mph with late movement (figured something out?) and then he is DFAed. Weird timing is all. No I do not see him as the future of the Blue Jays.
  15. Edwin Jackson throws heat (97 mph), looks effective finally - DFA Kingham looking better and better - DFA Seriously...
  16. My money is on Stroman, quality starters are typically more valuable, but I think it depends on demand. If you have three teams competing for either of these guys it'll be awesome.
  17. It looks like Jays minor league player Demi Orimoloye was the FSL's player of the month. This kid is interesting because he seems to have some decent tools, according to Fangraphs. His FV is only 40, however. Another wrinkle, he's 22-years old and will be rule 5 draft eligible after December, 2019. Does that mean he has to be named to the 40-man, or risk being lost? What are your thoughts on this guy? He's an OF, and this system is dreadfully thin on decent OF prospects...
  18. I move Galvis before the trade deadline, and immediately call up Bichette (barring injury). I don't dick around with Galvis before then. He's the SS 100% up until he's traded.
  19. This is awesome! Thanks for sharing.
  20. Thank God it's not just me. It feels like I am having a mini-stroke when I read his posts. And then I get scared when others respond, because they get what he says and I just hear that muted trumpet sound in my head when I read those posts, the sound that adults make on Charlie Brown cartoons.
  21. I think you're asking if I can read. Well, if I can type, it's tacitly implied that I can read. I wasn't born and raised in Saskatchewan. I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland, but moved here for university. And stayed after I married a good, Canadian girl. I have some experience with thick accents. But still, it does not help a lick in understanding what you post 95% of the time.
  22. I honestly can't understand anything you post. You're like reading Noam Chomsky without the Noam. Or the Chomsky.
