  1. This is why (IMO) Price makes the most sense. It sucks that we're not the Yankees, but trading for Price to (#gross) help the Red Sox avoid the luxury tax may be the only way we get a 2+ WAR pitcher.
  2. I think it would take more. I am not sure 5/100 in TO gets it done. But 40,40,10,10 and 10 might.
  3. I don't think any GM would hand over assets for free. The days of GM's like Dave Stewart are over.
  4. Who would that be? What ~ 2 WAR pitchers out there do you think we have a legit shot at?
  5. Interesting. You are higher on Teoscar than most. And probably the FO. I get the feeling they don't feel he's the answer in CF. And I am a Teoscar fan. That was just a spitball return on the trade idea. My salient thought is that the FO wants Price and JBJ. I dunno what we need to lose to get that done. And no, I would be super pissed if we ate all of the salary for no additions.
  6. I don't think you read all of my posted thoughts on this. Price, JBJ and 1-2 Boston prospects for Hernandez, Zoiks and I dunno, Alford. I would never suggest we take Price and all of his salary. That's silly.
  7. We will not be able to just sign either pitcher. No one wants to come here. Price will be at ~ 2 WAR for a while yet. We need that. We have lots of money. The prospects coming back would take the sting out of the salary. JBJ could be extended, or traded for more prospects. And to trade Wag and Teoscar, or some combination, would clear out a lot of the log jam. What is a terrible route is just having faith that we can sign someone like Ryu. #thoughtsandprayers
  8. Another option to Ryu is David Price. I'll bet we could get both Price and Jackie Bradley Jr (fills that hole - for one year at least) and it wouldn't sting much. If we ate the full salary, we could maybe get prospects back. Give up Zoiks and Teoscar.
  9. I thought Dickerson looked amazing with the Rays (and I pray to god it's the same player, I am going to not Google and trust my long term memory) and was potentially a future all star. I would sign him for shizzle.
  10. 100%, but we'd have to give up 2-3 prospects, wouldn't we?
  11. Out of those three, who's your #1 pick?
  12. I think JD gets 3-year/$80M
  13. Teoscar/Fisher > light hitting FAs
  14. I agree, we have enough young talent in the OF. If the FO signs an impact bat OF then fine. But know, we don't need anyone light hitting.
  15. I agree with Saskjayfan. Saskatchewan, particularly Saskatoon (where I live) is an awesome place to live. I have lived in New York, San Diego, Glasgow and London for long stints over the years. Great places all, but Saskatoon is a really fun place with hot women (I mean, incredibly hot), fantastic restaurants, and other nice perks. But I also love TO. I visit there as much as I can. For the Jays, plays, whatever. It's an awesome city. I travel to Ottawa and Halifax for work. I would pick those cities and my second favourites in Canada. Montreal third, followed by Vancouver and then TO. Winnipeg is the ******* of Canada. Gross city. Okay, I am growing to like the Roark signing.
  16. Huh. Clever. #mate
  17. Do you have any points to make, mate?
  18. You better. It's coming in hot. Unlike any women you've ever dated. Hey, you started it, meat. Er, mate.
  19. Steam predicts Roark at 1.6 WAR. I will say he ends up 1.1 WAR. So, in sum, he's tepid garbage and I think some of the kids can do better. Hopefully he's our ace (lol) and can be traded once Pearson is ready.
  20. Very insightful. Thanks.
  21. I agree with you on Fisher. In his SSS he looked underwhelming, but in a year they don't plan to go for it why not give him a chance? Pull the plug after 300 ABs if he continues to suck. For me, if they don't sign a big bat in the OF, then stick with the kids and see what happens. The same goes for a lot of our young starting pitching. I'd rather run Anthony Kay out there 15+ times than SP's who the "Jays have interest in" that project to 1 WAR or something.
  22. Here's a neat write up https://bluejaysnation.com/2019/12/10/blue-jays-signing-of-james-dykstra-and-the-evolution-of-talent-discovery/
  23. Sure. Whatever floats your boat. Both are super funny.
  24. So Tellez, with worse defense with fewer dingers and three more steals. Cool.
