  1. Tellez has one option left. Shaw bats L so there is no way in hell they carry both of them. EE still makes sense to me.
  2. I agree, Shaw can play a few positions in the INF and may (as some have already said) make Drury redundant. EE can then play spot duty at 1B and mostly DH. It certainly lengthens our lineup, adding EE and Shaw. I think Tellez may be the odd man out. But I think Tellez may still have an option left. Shaw may even provide better defense than Smoak. I am not sure.
  3. Oh good, two years of control. I was wondering why they would bother with a 1-year.
  4. Why do you think he would be fine at 1B?
  5. I disagree. Baseball is a business. If everyone had thin skin everyone would hate.
  6. Maybe a 1B platoon, EE takes on lefties and Tellez vs righties? I like that. Edwin can DH the rest of the time, and when EE plays 1B, Tellez can sit (or DH if he's hot) and allows others like Vlad to get some DH time. I like it. Edwin has still been very, very solid the last three years and Steamer projects around 1.6 WAR. And, he's Edwin. In sum, a definite upgrade at 1B/DH spot.
  7. Okay, I call double jeopardy. I messed up on his age, and owned it earlier. You can't bring that up again. Unless you're a dick. #mate
  8. You haven't blocked me yet? Why not? And I was wrong, he's 21. Doh! That's bad, I thought he was way older, obviously. But seriously Spanky99, you hate everything I post. Please put me on ignore. I don't really need your *facepalm* s***. It doesn't add.
  9. For sure, I get that. But the way this FA window has evolved, I think I'd almost rather roll the dice with unknowns (our SP depth) than sign anymore mediocre SP. Here's a question. Roark and Anderson has short term deals. If they have awesome starts to the season, would you try to trade them for prospects/MLB players? And what if some of our AAA SP come out of the gate on fire? Lots to ruminate on for sure.
  10. I think he is a definite May, 2021 candidate, but man if he rolls in AAA why not call him up? I really like him. Maybe more than Pearson. I guess Roark and Anderson have bought time to let him mature and skip starting his service clock. Also, there is depth, but good depth? Guys who you envision as quality starters in 2021+ when things get real? I see Kay as a SP long term, and Pearson and Manoah, but almost everyone else is a meh.
  11. I have high hopes for Kay, Zeuch, Pearson, Merryweather and Patrick Murphy. And deeper down, SWR. Are Roark and Anderson better than Kay, Zeuch, Pearson and Merryweather? I am not sure.
  12. Olerud played straight out of college. Granted, and it's a big "granted", he's not a pitcher. But I wouldn't be shocked if Manoah starts this year for the Jays.
  13. If the emulate the magic the Rays seems to have, plus have the payroll to make huge adds when available, I would be more than happy.
  14. But he's 24, and looks great. If he was 19, I would agree with you.
  15. But he can be viewed as a placeholder for guys like SWR or Pearson. If he starts off really well, I would trade him at the deadline.
  16. With this in mind, I don't want to blow a load on stopgaps when we have some pitchers on the active roster and minors who may outperform older vets like Keuchel. For example, Anthony Kay. I really like him and I think he will be a very effective SP for the Jays. In fact, I will say that he may have the same WAR as Keuchel by season's end if given 30 starts. I would rather blow some money on offense, like a difference maker 1B/DH (Josh Donaldson...someone like that) or a 5-tool OF.
  17. I keep forgetting how effective the opener strategy worked last year for the Jays. It could really make for some interesting pitching numbers in 2020. I don't think SP, or bulk pitchers, will be allowed to go through a lineup three times unless they are super effective and have 3+ pitches working.
  18. I like this signing. Maybe not related, but I bet this is it for SP signings this off season.
  19. I'd say 5-year, $110M gets it done for TO. 4/80 anywhere else.
  20. Geez, pick 1-2 garbage prospects. Not all of our prospects are golden. I'd want Price (pay full price) and someone that we really, really like on the roster or on the farm. For 1-2 garbage prospects. You thought that I wanted Price at fill salary for Vlad or something? I value Price at $15M a year. The rest of his salary should be covered with prospect or player capital.
  21. Huh. Another solid baseball post, mate. Seriously, put me on ignore.
  22. But me on your ignore list, mate, instead of posting shizzle that a 4-year old would #mate
  23. Solid baseball thought #mate
