  1. I would go a 4-year for $100M. Why, because it is not my money.
  2. Okay, but you are noticing no one wants to sign in TO, right? Sometimes beggars cannot be choosers.
  3. Then he came back from Korea and played pretty decently. It's not like he's top tier, but damn, we need some offence from 1B. Maybe Tellez provides as much or more. Dunno. I was spitballing at any rate.
  4. Would anyone be interested in signing Eric Thames to play 1B and backup OF?
  5. I agree, one of the funnier ones I've seen in a while.
  6. I agree, having Villar and Biggio each play multiple positions, including covering 1B, works for me. Upgrades our offense in a huge way. I had no idea Villar had 40 SB last year. Wow.
  7. So true. If I was a MLB player SD is where I'd want to go. Gorgeous city, close to everything cool, and no expectations from anyone.
  8. I would totally sign Bird to a MiLB deal. In a heartbeat.
  9. I can't believe he's only 26. It feels like he's been around for 10 years. He'd be good for 2+ WAR with upside. I would do this, too. Maybe trade (don't gasp) Biggio for an impact starter with tons of control. Maybe Jon Gray (less control, I know) and 2+ prospects. Just throwing ideas out.
  10. Good trades cannot be "light". If someone feels there wasn't enough, then it is a bad trade to that person. Or I guess meh. I didn't get a lot of meh. I saw a lot of outrage here. Anyway, I was meh. Now, I'm definitely in the good realm on this. If things work out well, we have two starters for 6 years for a (presumably) disgruntled Stroman.
  11. is the Kay/SWR for Stroman trade looking a little better now to everyone? It is to me.
  12. That's a 97 win team just starting it's window. Lol I love this, too.
  13. Grichuk isn't a mess. He had a 4th OF year, in terms of numbers/productiom, but he's far from a disaster. And we have enough 4th OF types to have that position covered nicely if Grichuk starts performing like he can and has. Gurriel Jr. has LF barring disaster. So really, the outfield is decided with 3/4 positions filled pretty much. Far from a mess.
  14. 2 WAR is incredible. I think maybe he has a really good shot at a spot last year.
  15. Todd, in 2020 who out of this bunch would you like to hypothetically see on the roster? Pick four OFs....
  16. I am not sure about the racism thing. But I am sure I really want to date Polish women now! Or am I the only person seeing huge ad banners for Polish women? Such a weird ad.
  17. I was talking Tulo and Martin. They weren't (aren't) worth much but so many bitchers and moaners seem to think they were worth way more than they were when they were traded and we were screwed. For me that is clearly not the case. I think Sanchez sucks, and was worth hardly anything. Biagini? Dime a dozen. Fisher sucks so far, sure, but it's not like Biagini and Sanchez are heading to Cooperstown and the FO was massively screwed. JD was f***ing hurt. Merryweather may not amount to anything, but c'mon man, you're not going to get much for a few weeks of a hurt player. Cashman wouldn't have gotten more. I don't think we received pennies on the dollars for Stro' either. I wasn't sure about the trade when it happened, but I think we may have traded for two decent starters. Time will tell. I am just really sick of the "pennies on the dollar" rhetoric. It's lazy complaining.
  18. Not at the time they were traded and DFAed respectively.
  19. I think a lot of fans figured this when he grabbed his elbow and cried.
  20. This is lazy criticism. they were worth pennies.
  21. I think we'll see a > 2 WAR season from Grichuk next season. It's what my sports gut is telling me.
  22. At the level of sports I play at, it works out non-zero of the time.
  23. So you're saying it's possible? That the chances are > 0%? Pretty fierce prediction.
  24. I 100% agree. But I would still try to get Buchholz signed. I have a good feeling about him for 2020.
