  1. Axford and Tepera both experiencing elbow soreness. https://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-relievers-axford-tepera-dealing-elbow-pain/ I guess Luciano may stick now.
  2. I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but I think some basic nutrition help etc., could go a long ways.
  3. I really like Grichuk, and was hoping he was one of the pieces the Jays got back if they traded Donaldson last off season to st. Louis. I would love to sign him to a 3-year, $24M contract with a no trade clause. I think he's a player that will mature into a really consistent, above average OF. And I like his other skills, too.
  4. Well, he is a prospect. Unless he's playing in the major leagues. Prospect: In sports, a prospect is any player whose rights are owned by a professional team, but who has yet to surpass a threshold where they achieve rookie status (as defined by their respective league), or is not established with the team yet. Prospects can sometimes be assigned to farm teams, or loaned to lower ranked teams. Snider was also a prospect at some point. One that did not really pan out. Are you saying Vlad is not a prospect? Man, there are some dumb f***ers out there.
  5. Super smart, the lot of you.
  6. I call ******** and revisionist history. Many fans were okay with this deal.
  7. Jesus, none of would now. Looking back. But at the time, if you canvassed 100 hard core fans on the trade I'll bet you 80% would have liked it.
  8. I would like Santana on the cheap. Maybe Gonzalez.
  9. He had meniscus surgery. Essentially, that's they cut away the damaged meniscus, chunks and flaps of which were getting into his joint and probably locking up. He will more than likely suffer from bone spurs soon, if not already, because of this trauma. He may be getting shots of Synvisc, or something more advanced, to provide temporary relief (a temporary meniscus essentially), but the damage in done. it is permanent and not going away. IMO.
  10. At the time it made sense, though. And Dickey signed a team friendly contract extension for ~ $10M AAV. A good deal for a Cy Young winner. Hindsight is a bitch.
  11. Imagining an 11-year old facing 92 mph fastballs seems surreal. I've played baseball my whole life and still get a little ancy facing that sort of heat. There's something to be said about drafting former MLB player prodigy. They have access to training and resources at a way younger age than anyone else on the planet.
  12. Cullen Large, eh? Never heard of him until I googled him after reading your post. 23-years old, drafted in 2017. Where can I find FV values for players like Cullen Large?
  13. You need two to tango. By that I mean you need to have another team willing to trade for Smoak, Morales, etc. They are essentially worthless. Are you suggesting we just cut them, ala Tulo? For me, I would cut Morales. Smoak? Man, he's pretty good but if a Cron gets DFAed, Smoak has no worth. I would trade him for almost anything. I am very, very anxious to get rid of Pillar. I want to throw Alford and Pompey into the fire and see what doesn't suck.
  14. I think awful is a little strong for some of those players. Steamer predicts Travis (1.1 War), McKinney (0.8 WAR), and Hernandez (0.4 WAR) will do okay. I think you'll see Travis and Hernandez exceed those values for the year. I think Pompey could easily be a 2 WAR player. In a development year, I would like give a lot of these guys a fair shake. See who can maybe emerge and be a solid player. Morales needs to go. He is just taking up valuable ABs in a very important year for the Jays' future. I'd be surprised if all of the awful players you mention all totally suck and are gone by 2020
  15. jesus, semantics. When I say "nice", I mean best for the org. McKinnley (sp?) has two options left. There is almost 0% chance he makes opening day roster.
  16. On the latest Jays from the Couch (listen if you can get past the annoying sound issues on this episode) Pompey was discussed. I think the panel agreed it might be nice to give him a shot at 4th OF. And the fact that he is still on the 40-man is an indication that, for right now, the Jays see at least a short-term future with him. And then it was brought up that Pillar has two options left. Would it be a crazy notion to option Pillar to begin the season and give Pompey a month or two to s*** or get off the pot? Assuming, of course, Pompey's leg doesn't fall off or something. Pillar has ~ 4 years of MLB service. Can a guy like that be optioned?
  17. That is an insane group of prospects to meet! I am very jealous.
  18. He would probably never play here, but man a 10-year deal for Harper would be so sweet and actually fit the Blue Jays plans to be competitive after 2019. He and Vlad would make a great 1-2 (or 2-1) punch. Make it happen, Atkins.
  19. I didn't say he is the first prospect to take $2M. I am saying that he was at least one-time thought of pretty highly, and the fact that he is only 19-years old with decent scouting reports leads me to categorize him as a potential decent prospect on the farm. I would take a 19-year old who signed for $2M over a 19-year old whom signed for nothing if they have the same numbers in the minors. Because mo 'money means mo' potential. Even you have to agree the numbers show a strong correlation between signing $$$ and success in professional baseball.
  20. He signed for $2M. Not many fringe prospects sign for $2M that I know of. I think that makes him a lottery ticket type player. At least for me.
  21. 100%, this is a no brainer to me. But if a team wants Maile, and that is very possible, we flip him for more prospects. Meanwhile, McGuire plays full time in AAA. This trade result was better than I thought possible. Very pleased. For us and Martin.
  22. I agree, Todd. If there is solid pitching available, I would draft very pitcher heavy.
  23. If he passes his physical, Santana > Shields. But he sort of f***ed us once.
