  1. Great work by Floyd. He even had Ellsbury beat if not for the error.
  2. Travis is rusty. You can't flub that throw.
  3. Wow, the throw hit the lip of the grass and Jose gets away with it. Betances looks like he's fighting his command though.
  4. Floyd getting ready way too late. Gibby needs to stop waiting for trouble. They can't get a bit loose with 7 outs to go? Edit: good job Happ. That should be it though.
  5. Happ for the 8th? I say bring in the pen.
  6. I didn't know that was the rationale. I figured it was an attempt to neutralize some of the lefty hitters as much as possible.
  7. Me too. Travis went down the same day of the Tulo trade before Tulo arrived in Toronto. They've never played together.
  8. They might think Tulo is running himself down in practice and prep to fix his horrid hitting (which seems to have turned around).
  9. Just tuned in. Two bombs for Martin!? Nice.
  10. Everyone should have tempered expectations. The guy is a half-season rookie coming back after almost a year off. That said, what I've seen so far suggests he can be not only a solid player but a legit staple in the lineup. Should be an excellent complementary piece for when the big bats decide to start squaring up their contact.
  11. Jays offered up some prime young players and didn't get the Cy Young winner they were trading for. It was probably forseeable, but still. Would anyone have traded that package for Mark Buehrle? Very doubtful. That's on the FO who made the move though, but Dickey is obviously the most visible goat.
  12. The Dickey hate is mostly perception, though I think he invites a lot of it with all his full counts and general low energy innings. Run support doesn't help either. I think he had the same problem last year too? Bats just seem to struggle when he pitches, and I don't think it's because he's normally matched up with above average pitchers. Could be wrong though. He also unfairly gets the stink eye for being the butt end of the Thor trade.
  13. Hard to rip on Dickey for this one. Frustrating game.
  14. Getting pretty tired of these San Diego specials from the Jays. Just bad enough to lose.
  15. Betances got away with one there and knew it.
  16. Remember when he hit two off Scherzer? No one else does.
  17. Yeah, sure they could. That doesn't change my point.
  18. The only meaningful difference is the Red Sox playing to their potential. Everyone else is arguably the same. There are 162 games and the other squads will have as much opportunity to squander their season as the Jays have to recover.
  19. They recovered from way worse last year. They need to turn it around yesterday at this point, though. It's really becoming inexcusable.
  20. Well that has no bearing on anything, but if JD can't trust himself to hit a bomb why should the next guy think he's capable? And all for what, to get a runner to third? JD doing what he's best at is a better bet at scoring Thole from second.
  21. So Thole, of all guys, draws a leadoff walk, followed by a Bautista single, and the best candidate for a home run bunts.
  22. The closed dome feels like you're watching the game in a warehouse, though. It's just so drab. Unless the team is absolutely raking I'd honestly prefer to watch at home if the dome is going to be closed on a sunny day.
  23. This is annoying, though. Why should he get ABs over an established player who is not only hitting well but plays a solid glove at 1B? ST was two months ago and the team is currently doing everything and anything it can to keep its head above water. What does Smoak have to do to get playing time? At least they had the sense to DH Paredes, a "position player" who still got froze off the Baltimore DHs.
