  1. As much criticism as I have for the big bats sinking this team, I have a lot of respect for them for doing this (if true). I doubt they arranged the lineup, but maybe they requested some reasonable optimization?
  2. I will be the hero this board needs; the candle in the darkest night.
  3. It really is remarkable how no one can do anything in this lineup. I mean, yeah, another year older, but this is on another level.
  4. Just tuned back in. Wow, this team is absolutely terrible right now. I'm really hoping Minnesota isn't rock bottom for this crew but there's not a team out there who I think they can beat right now.
  5. These Paredes word games are brutal. And this is coming from a guy with my user handle.
  6. JB and EE kind of look like chumps right now for all their public negotiating. I mean they'll probably get a lot but if you're going to beat your chest you shouldn't be getting beat over and over and over again by the Cesar Ramoses of the world.
  7. Saunders having a good year for himself. Good man.
  8. I stopped last month when my eyeballs filled with blood.
  9. Every night I think it will be the night the hitters string together good ABs or squared up pitches and every night it goes wrong. Absolutely brutal.
  10. Archer not doing himself any favours but the Jays need to step up and start bloodying some noses.
  11. What a bomb by JB. Man I am going to miss him if he walks in November.
  12. I live with a fairly new baseball fan so I've gotten pretty good at keeping a level head and explaining the rollercoaster.
  13. I'm of the opinion that the pitching outburst and overperformance (along with the acquisition of Price and the miraculous recovery by Stroman) was far more of an answered prayer than expecting four 4-5 WAR position players to start performing properly again. I mean there's always the chance that they're all having career-low seasons at the same time, but the things that need to go right for this season to be a success are far more likely to happen than the perfect storm of things that fell into place last year.
  14. I defended AA in another thread when posters were calling his moves boom-or-bust, but I still don't think he's top 10 anything. He sold the farm twice and and managed only two consistent months of entertaining baseball, which luckily happened at the right time for an amazing playoff run. Without that great streak AA would have been laughed out of town. This is still AA's team with a couple of new curtains and a rug from Shapiro and Atkins. But even the shoddy calibre of play from the superstars has been remarkable. None of this is on AA or Shatkins. If your core is Tulo, Donaldson, Bautista, Edwin, and Martin and the offense is still failing, no impact or depth move is going to save it. Either those guys get it going or the season is doomed. There's nothing to be done.
  15. I'm not exactly enjoying the season so far either but I can't believe what I'm reading. 2 games under on May 17 is hardly folding time. Teams start the car late nearly every year and end up contending. Did you guys forget last season?
  16. Why would that happen? Same reasoning as Pillar adding .045 to his OPS just for leading off. The team will take off when they start connecting with mediocre fastballs and hanging breaking pitches. Until then, this.
  17. This is AA's team, buddy.
  18. Team is very good which is why this is frustrating. Very few teams are this stacked, but none of the big guys can start their cars and game-changing errors have happened on an almost nightly basis.
  19. I'm an optimistic poster but this game looks like about 85% of the other games so far, hitting-wise. If the SP falters at all the game is already lost.
  20. This team is pretty unwatchable right now. 25% into the season and barely scraping .500. I mean maybe some decent hitting would mitigate starters needing to hold a 2 ERA to earn a W.
  21. I think Chavez has generally been pretty good but he's given up two massive inopportune home runs and it's colouring people's view of his performance so far. (Brock Holt grand slam, Desmond 3-run HR)
  22. Incredible debut by the thread starter.
  23. Basketball is weird to me. As a baseball-only sports fan it's wild to see some teams so grossly favoured over others. I'm so used to the huge variations and come-what-may luck of a single series between two baseball teams.
  24. Game 3 of the season when Jose's attempt to cheat by grabbing Forsythe's ankle ended the game on the spot. A good snapshot of the season to this point actually.
