  1. Great win by the Jays. Only downside was that they weren't able to keep it to 3-2 to improve their 1-run W-L record.
  2. Agreed. I'm comfortable all around the field now, tbh.
  3. Good advice. Someone should paste this in Bautista's locker.
  4. That wasn't a hit but EE's "contact" gets him a single. Baseball.
  5. Did something happen to Moustakas? I missed yesterday's game.
  6. The better the hitter, the better he can do something with a good pitch. These platitudes can go both ways.
  7. Not always. But even if it were true, I'd rather have the four beasts in this lineup swinging for monster HRs and doubles than "moving the runner" with a near-miss-double play fielder's choice.
  8. Yeah, good luck in the playoffs with this 850-run offense.
  9. They win close games in the most effective way possible: by scoring a ton of runs to put the match out of reach. This means that the game has a minimal chance to be swung by a stupid bloop single or whatever else happens when the Rays play. This 1-run game narrative has got to stop. The Blue Jays score more runs than any other team. The pitching has also given up as many runs as many really bad teams. This is why they're +1 .500 right now, not because the offense sucks. It's also reflected in the relative lack of saves Blue Jays' ninth inning guys have. When they win, they win considerably and any sane person would have it this way. "Good win, but I wish the Orioles could have scored one more time so the Jays could have improved their 1-run W/L total..."
  10. There's nothing to learn, unless you think the Royals have something to learn about closing out games too considering the previous game involved a Toronto comeback. Sometimes guys get knocked around. Sometimes errors get made. That's baseball.
  11. Makes sense, I suppose. Not sure I like it, though. I think Dickey on short rest vs. the Royals might be too big a risk but I've always thought pretty conservatively about pitching routines. If Price is going to get an extra start against the Yankees then I guess I have no choice but to grudgingly like it. One thing I do like? The top of the batting order. Everyone gets their traditional speedy-guy-hitting-in-front-of-the-big-bats soother, except we just don't have to see it until the third inning or so. The first inning gets to be relentless, plus the benefit of getting Tulo the extra AB late in the game if the lineup flips over. Glad we've stopped pushing our best ABs down into the lineup.
  12. Excuse my ignorance because it's probably been addressed, but why are we starting Dickey on short rest instead of Price on normal rest? I'd kind of like to have Price going as many times as possible.
  13. You can't possibly be upset about your starting catcher getting a day off in a weekend series. This is standard operating procedure for every MLB team.
  14. I suppose he did have to take a rush flight to Colorado from Chicago and then rush his ass immediately from Colorado to Toronto. Fine, I guess. Still pretty sure this is a huge series and every advantage should be taken to win. f***ing DH the guy.
  15. Yeah, best to dump valuable players while merely speculating your own future moves to replace them. Seems like a sound strategy.
  16. Maybe he's 0 for 3 historically against Ventura. This is idiotic.
  17. I really hate when Gibbons does this. Who sits tomorrow? Edwin and JD? Jesus. It's not like the team is trying to climb out of the .500 swamp or anything. AA has to look at this lineup and ask Gibby what the f*** he is doing. "I just got your Troy effing Tulowitzki and you're sitting him in his fourth game?"
  18. I want to text the savvy Greek myself. Me: So how many trades are you going to make? Him: Olive 'em.
  19. I'm not really sure why you think yesterday (or the day before) are any more likely to be trade days than tomorrow or Friday. Deals can materialize at any time. There's no reason to see a deadline before the actual deadline. As for whether AA will make a move? If he finds a deal he likes and his trade partner is happy with it, one will get made. If not, no trade will happen. I think this is pretty much standard operation procedure to begin with. The trade deadline hype just makes s*** sound super immediate, but these deals probably often ferment for a long time.
  20. Not sure if it always is, but I tend to find this is the case pretty often.
  21. Remember that time Reyes set up a Josh Donaldson 2-run home run by sac bunting a runner to second?
