I feel like the Yankee FO is just waiting for it to happen. Tanaka himself probably won't submit to surgery unless absolutely necessary... and the FO can't exactly insist, either legally or from a PR angle. I imagine both parties are at a bit of a standoff, although it's possible my imagination is getting a bit ahead of me.

I'd argue LAA should win for maximum benefit, since it gives the Jays distance in both the WC and Division race. Baltimore winning just gives the Jays ground in the WC. If we were in the last week of the season I'd say you want the team occupying the closest playoff spot to lose, but we're still a ways away, IMO. It's probably a small distinction in the scheme of things, but getting as much ground in as many races is probably the better thing to "hope for".

Plus 9 or 10 in Tampa means that over half of the season's games are guaranteed to be played on their scheduled days. The games played discrepancy between the Jays and other clubs is like this every year.

Texas just intentionally walked two batters (Cruz and Cano) to load the bases in the bottom of the 10th. All to face Jesus Montero. What. EDIT: And they K Montero looking. Really wanted to see a walk-off passed ball or HBP. EDIT EDIT: And the Rangers start piling on immediately after in the top of the 11th. Up four runs now. Ugh.

Such a stupid argument. Arguing in favour of Hutch's luck is really just an argument in favour of having Edwin, Bats, and JD hit 2-, 3-, and 4-run home runs. But then of course he undermines his whole spiel by preferring Shelby Miller over Hutch, so at least we know his brain damage isn't too debilitating.
