  1. would love to see a reinforcement going into the Tampa series. Last night's game gave AA some breathing room & a win tonight/O's loss tonight gives even more leverage to deal ie. not be completely desperate...
  2. I think the bosox, if they move him, would do so for a pylon...I think the red sox/Drew relationship has or is reaching its end...
  3. Drew might be a very low cost option if the Red Sox give him up...insurance for Reyes if he gets hurt down the stretch...
  4. it's true - thought JPA was gonna be a stud for 10+ years
  5. Bautista looks very uncomfortable at the plate/sitting on the bench...wouldn't mind him sitting out the home run derby and relaxing during All-Star festivities but to play a couple innings & get a few at bats & then call it a day...
  6. I hope he can hit a fastball AND a breaking ball (looking at you Arencibia)
  7. we need a new theory for the organization... I like before they enter the game, they pick a random # out of a hat & that's their pitch count
  8. that's my sense too TL...and probably someone like Navarro - low cost & potential for a little upside but nothing spectacular...
  9. exactly 3 decent OF's - Melk, Rasmus, Bautista - one goes down, there's a backup... team needs 4 decent IF's so that if 1 goes down, there's only a need for 1 replacement...with Lawrie out, there's a need for 2 everyday replacements...
  10. though Mariners could probably use bullpen depth down the stretch no?...
  11. little to no leverage right now for the jays...teams tanking can wait a bit longer - one of the benefits of sucking
  12. Morrow but seriously, earliest he's a free agent is 2020...it'll cost a solid prospect
  13. if it is a power struggle b/w Beeston/top dog(s) at Rogers, and I think some articles in the past from DJF have alluded to such, closing the taps is an old strategy...Beest/AA can't come out and say anything either or else it's more ammunition for Rogers... or perhaps they all like each other (Rogers/Beest/AA) and the myth of the Chinese wall insulates everyone... we need details and we ain't gonna get any until there's change...and that may not be for who knows how long...
  14. xv, to be somewhat fair to AA, who would've thought the rash of injuries/guys playing hurt would've happened as it has since early June... on the other hand, with his players down/hurt, AA has still stood by & done nothing... assuming of course AA can do manoever to do something...Rogers may be cutting off Beeston/AA since their intention is to get rid of them or at least Beeston...
  15. Bow, Would like to think so but O's are likely playing at their potential...so don't see them faltering much assuming status quo They've been healthy relatively - things get interesting if a solid player or two go down... That's why I see Duquette having the green light from ownership to grab 1-2 position players & a pitcher...not only for September run but also better depth in case of injuries
  16. that's exactly it...this isn't rocket science...team offense sucks right now with no end in sight...ergo, go get a bat...we're in july & instead of 1 or 2 weeks before the deadline, just pull the trigger and make it 3 weeks before...if you need to give up a B+ instead of a B prospect, then do it...
  17. they'll constantly assess & try to get better at what they're doing...let's keep in mind this is year 1...it will get better...at same time, there will be disputes b/c the evidence isn't conclusive...making the right call without dispute from any team 95+ % of the time (I don't know the % but it must be awfully high) is pretty great
  18. KK, I think there's merit in that... any link to any articles why mlb followed their route vs football route? ultimately, I think mlb did so for 'uniformity', 'transparency' and 'objectivity'...and imo, "New York" was the way to go... Bautista can complain New York stuck it to the jays, but he can never say the ump at the game did...I think there's significant merit to avoiding that, especially in baseball where these challenges happen all the time...
  19. KK, I think it's implied but just making sure - as I understand it, it's an ump in New York reviewing the play...not a non-ump...I don't think an ump in New York has any issue overturning a call if it was the wrong call...conclusively of course... on the one hand, having in-game upms review their own plays may be better; on the other hand, having an ump in New York review provides in theory complete objectivity...
  20. Gibby is a team player - he knows his time will come & if that means AA fires him for the sake of AA attempting to blame some/most of this on Gibby to the casual fan, then Gibby will take it in stride... whatever happens to Gibby, I will say this - he imo loves the organization/blue jays & likely wouldn't want to be anywhere else...
  21. one thing Gibby often does is not sugar coat something... there is no light b/c short of a shutout pitching effort, this offense is not producing - wtf can Gibby do about that? last night's lineup was not terrible - other than Kawa, #8 spot & #9 spot - this lineup isn't bad - and with Kawa & Francisco getting OB a bit, it's better than we're giving the lineup credit for...most if not every lineup in baseball will have 1-2 holes...which means the lineup itself, the big money players, are not producing right now consistently... Headley would help imo from a stability standpoint & imo, any trade will bring at least in the short term some new energy that would hopefully rub off on the other players...but even with a trade, these guys gotta produce...
