  1. ha, Bautista would lead the league in being thrown out by the umps. When the time is right, whenever that is for Rogers, Jays should consider the brother of the only player inducted into the hall of fame as a blue jay...
  2. imo, both Gibby & AA will be back next season to have another kick at the can. Attendance is down but nothing crazy and it was expected. Viewership has been decent, especially during the recent "hope" phase during the Cubs series. Rogers looks at this & says AA/Gibby can still sell hope for next year ie. we were that close, injuries, imagine if we were healthy all year, young exciting arms, team is deeper, etc. The way the O's play is reflective of Showalter. The way the Rays play is reflective of Maddon. Managers imo make a huge difference on culture and the way the team plays. Maybe Gibbons biggest asset for this team is he lets them play loose without as much "structure" as other top teams, maybe not. That said, I like Gibby - the guys respect him & like him. He loves Toronto the city & team, & that in itself gets him points. Gibby or not, in an ideal world imo, jays have one manager for a long period of time. 2 years in an out stuff is amateurish. flawed as this team is, don't think anyone has any issue of this team making the playoffs next year & playing a meaningful series of playoff baseball at a minimum. If that means AA/Gibby stick around for another few years, so be it.
  3. isn't the catch with grass that argos need to be out first, which needs to happen desperately for everyones sake but isn't gonna happen in the next few years?
  4. jays helped him out a lot by not taking more pitches/swinging at balls
  5. Watch out for Escobar
  6. JB jr. grounds out into a double play...of course
  7. nix that, Hendriks out, bullpen arm in
  8. our boy Hendriks in a jame...3-2 red sox, bases loaded, 1 out, top of 3rd
  9. way A's are going down, anything can happen...would love to see the royals/jays in the W/C game...though personally, making and losing a W/C game doesn't count in making the playoffs...
  10. reported it's for personal reasons... guess we'll find out more in the coming days
  11. well, picking up the option has value, whether as a jays starter for 2015 or for another rotation via trade. His biggest adjustment this year is he isn't scared to throw his fastball & attacks hitters. And he's shut his trap since he's solidified himself as a starting 5 this year.
  12. i'd imagine or hope the jays have a research paper in respect of what other stadiums/facilities have that the Rogers Centre currently does not, from weight room/rehab differences to beer...wouldn't be that hard to do.
  13. Jays are IMO close to a full out rebuild - just gotta keep losing & falling further & further behind - fan base is already disgusted at this point & say tgis team falls under 500 & 10+ games back if the WC, calls for cleaning house including AA will be loud. build around Edwin & lawrie & Stro & hutch - maybe throw Gose in there since he'll be starting in CF anyways Bullpen - loup, delabar,Cecil, McGowan Everyone else is expendable
  14. read the previous post Jonn...haha...Zoolander one of my fav stupid funny movies
  15. the other kicker of the 1 game WC is, assuming the team is able to line up their best pitcher for the WC, the winner cannot then use that best pitcher for Game 1 of the next series...which is or should be a disadvantage... so another big incentive to try to win the division, which after 162 games, is the way it should be imo
  16. MLB imo has done what's in the best interest of the game... prior to 1994, the 2 division winners in each league made the playoffs. I'd guess, what, 6-8 teams max league wide actually played meaningful baseball post June/July? then in 1994, they added the WC when MLB added the central division to each league...that's 6 division winners, 2 WC winners & say 2-3 teams overall that had a shot at the WC - that's 10-11 teams that played meaningful baseball post June/July then in 2012, the 2nd WC started - that's 6 division winners, 4 WC winners & say 5-6 teams with a shot at the WC - that's 15-16 teams playing meaningful baseball post June/July I think the 2 WC system is great, overall fan interest is up & it's fun scoreboard watching...perhaps tweak the format a bit - say 3 game WC series (not sure how the teams that would play the WC winners would feel ie. is that too many days off & does WC team have the advantage of playing continuously? any case, don't think the 16 team or 8 team in each league playoff format is viable or makes any sense in baseball where 1 could lose to 8 after kicking butt for 162 games...
  17. Royals have a 28 year playoff drought, longest in the league...Royals made a decision that they could compete for a playoff spot & they were much more competitive last year than in years past & things have been swell this year thus far...
  18. one thing about Swisher is his winning attitude seems to rub off on those around him.
  19. imo, part of the issue with Romero was the pressure he (and the jays) put on himself as the #1 ace of the staff...totally unfair when at the time he was performing, was at best a #2 but more like a #3 or #4.
  20. this team has done the opposite of what we've expected at various time....with this logic, jays are bound for a run, mini or otherwise
  21. need to keep it close/have a shot at wildcard going into September...anything can happen this series against chisox is big...should win atleast 2 of 3... mariners vs. tigers this weekend as well...
  22. AAs plan = wait until main guys come back. Much needed rest day, EE back - jays desperately need a good stretch. Os have kept winning & jays only shot is likely the w/c - which stinks but whatever. any case, jays better turn it around soon or could be 6/7 games back of the w/c before we know it & pretending to play meaningful ball in September. AA got credit along with the jays for staying the course pre deadline while the jays kept winning - right now pretty sure he has trouble sleeping - jays brass need this team to compete & play meaningful games to sell to the masses the brass did a good job & were oh so close this year.
  23. Worked out with Bautista in the off season - maybe they'll stick with it
