  1. yeah, as much as I preferred Headley, I wouldn't give up Francisco who remains cheap/controllable ++... now AA moves for Valencia who has upside, cheap & controllable... it's not Headley but it's also 2 good alternatives...and they both have pop... again, the heat was off AA after the jays came storming out of the all-star break...things worked out for AA for now but imagine if the jays kept up their losing ways and we're talking about how no moves in July were at all? Winning solves a lot of issues
  2. perhaps throw in Redmond & Jenkins to follow for a game or two...or vice versa... Redmond has kept the jays in games when he's pitched
  3. Gibby doesn't get enough credit....good call on pulling Hutch early
  4. ugh, bases loaded 2 outs, schoop up to bat...
  5. geez, O's & A's into 11th...the O's success in these type of games surely gotta run out...
  6. Francisco is getting better at recognizing/hitting that breaking ball...scary...
  7. k, he didn't look like he had a strong arm...Melky didn't listen during pre-game prep talk?
  8. but for running inside the base path, would the pitcher have done the same thing? likely not....
  9. really surprised they didn't move for a 4th/5th starter for more depth...
  10. so long as the jays legitimately compete for a playoff spot, where each game matters like it does now, won't be much backlash against Rogers/AA
  11. geez, Lester & Shark #1 & #2...scary can see why A's did this - they weren't going to pay Cespedes what he'll get after 2015, clear up $10M next season... only question is OF defence/offence from that position...
  12. not sure what Boston is asking for Lester but even if it's 1 top prospect, Boston should do it...
  13. Schowalter after last night's game said matter of factly their pitching has kept the O's where they are... perhaps they are overachieving as a group or perhaps not...but definitely makes sense for the O's to add another mid-rotation starter for further depth...
  14. my sense is the jays are hoping Dickey rounds into form & has a hot streak throughout August & into September... if his knuckleball is dancing like it was in Boston hereon in, and he limits the long ball, he could be very tough... we've seen spurts of Dickey at his best, a game here, game there, but not dominant over a stretch... perhaps we'll see what AA and the jays thought they were really getting in the trade throughout August/September...if so, could match up with any pitcher head to head...
  15. jays imo match up better against Angels then vs. O's or even the Rays... i'm really interested in watching jays vs. Rays/O's & their compete level & discipline over the stretch of a series...
  16. don't think AA will do anything drastic & will not take on much if any payroll & will not, imo, give up Sanchez could see him add a controllable bullpen arm but that's about it...
