  1. from mlb, http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/replay_review.jsp, part V, G... Hit By Pitch. Those plays for which there is a possibility that a pitched ball touches a batter, or his clothing. See, e.g., Rules 5.09(a) and 6.08(. Any doubt as to whether a pitched ball hit the bat (as opposed to the batter or his clothing) should be resolved by the Home Plate Umpire at that moment as hitting the bat and not the batter, and the Umpire should declare a fair or foul ball under the circumstances. Notwithstanding the foregoing, whether the ball was in the strike zone when it touched the batter, and whether the batter made any attempt to avoid being touched by the ball, shall not be reviewable. See Rule 6.08(.
  2. reyes is only warming up & getting better & better...
  3. fml, i accidentally watched that lawrie/westjet/tattoo commercial..
  4. when he came up after Colby went on the DL, Gose was patient & didn't try to hit for power...what Gose should be is a guy that gets on base any which way ...there were a string of games where he bunted almost every other at bat...rather see that then him swinging away...
  5. what happened to the 'real' Gose when Colby went down...
  6. Cisco should figure it out...he should be killing those in the zone breaking ball hangers....
  7. talk about a bunch of breaking balls for Francisco...of course pitcher sneaks a fast ball inside...he's gotta lay off the crap...
  8. i would imagine this early, the conversation is just warming up...
  9. if he's shown prior to playoffs he's pitching well/on a roll, i think you roll with game 1/2 scenario, assuming no other stud coming in at the trade deadline...then it's definitely a #2 or #3 game hypo...but if he's pitching like he is now...he's in the #2 or #3 conversation but with a stud, in the #3 or #4 conversation...i could see a situation where Stro Show is lights out & team rolls with stud #1, MB, Stro & either Dickey/Hutch whoever is pitching better...
  10. good comment on changing speeds/locations...weird to say but he needs to use his slower 60+ knuckler more...agree when he's on he can be lights out...so can't be afraid to use gut feel ie. taking him out of the game/if playoffs, when to start him...
  11. cheering for the O's...want the defending champs to fall very far behind; when they're 'out', i'll cheer for them against division rivals...
  12. you read my mind Spanky...
  13. Shields is the guy i'd go after imo - but yeah, 2.5 games out, anything can happen - way too early...in the hypothetical, i'd feel more comfortable with him as a game 1 starter than Dickey/Buehrle...Shark/Price will be too expensive imo and more expensive than Shields...and a chance of re-signing Shields in the off-season...32 now, 33 in December... perhaps Sanchez becomes expendable when Hoffman signs... what this rotation/team needs is a stud not another 3-5 rotation guy...while Shield's may not be Price, he's in the discussion as a stud & will cost less...
  14. always drive in but took the GO on Saturday...i've been converted...
  15. yep, just one of those games...respond tomorrow & move on... Shelby pitched well but his pitch count was low most of the game... Jays had a chance - 2 & 3rd with JB up & a strikeout....it happens Hats off to Buehrle - not his best game & battled
  16. in a division with the bosox, yanks & orioles, I wouldn't rest comfortable with a 6 game lead or even a 10 game lead...
  17. i'd consider Sanchez & b prospect for Shields...perhaps Hoffman's selection lessens the need to retain Sanchez - whose the better prospect assuming both are healthy - Sanchez or Hoffman?
  18. i'm not gonna get comfortable with the division lead until/if the jays are 14+ games ahead of the 2nd place team
  19. joeybats, he brought Toronto back into the conversation with his amazing couple years of home runs... another is Buehrle - just in awe of what he's accomplished & continues to accomplish given the way he pitches/velocity...
  20. cardinals this weekend followed by twins & then @ Camden yards...hoping they go into Baltimore playing well & win the series...
  21. Was at the game, great day of baseball - Happ was good - 2 run inning - couple of doubles, tough landing spots for Melky's speed - overall located well - was likely done in 5th IMO but 3 run 6th kept him in the game - something happened to the tigers after the dropped Bautista ball...tsn turning point - good teams seem to have luck fall their way - any game could've gone to the tigers - jays just playing well right now - pillar with great speed in left - waiting for adversity to hit this team & see how they respond...but perhaps this offense will not slow down - scary to think of this lineup with Rasmus as #8-9 - watching Gose hit today - less inclined to suggest trading rasmus if a 3 way is possible - and with his right handed bat, perhaps it's pillar that stays up when Rasmus returns
  22. Dickey is just annoying - team just got him the lead & he comes out & sucks in the 6th...seen it time and again this season - 6th inning or whatever & gets into a big jam
