  1. Really good piece! 240 Million seems like a lot more than he will get, no?
  2. Are you able to post the entire article? Or at least the top 15? I like how they used criteria about 5 factors although I think Management should be weighed more heavily. By that criteria I would think Jays should be a lot higher. Top 5 Major league team, Top 5-10 Finance, Top 10 Management team
  3. I wish they did Tiers for these rankings instead of just a 1-30. Maybe they did in the writeup. Is there a link?
  4. I can't see the Jays outbidding clubs like the Dodgers and Cubs as much as we all want to sign Heyward.
  5. Sure but evaluating a player by points and rebounds is like evaluating a player based on Batting Average and RBIs. There are stats that give a better story on how good that player is.
  6. Rangers seem way too high. Also Red and Orioles should be the bottom 2 in my opinion.
  7. I think at the same time you do need a number 1/2 starter. You can fill out the back end of the rotation with cheap fillers year after year but if you want to win in the playoffs you need to have a top end starter.
  8. Aren't we past the stage of evaluating a player based on point and rebound totals?
  9. I trade Mike condon and Matt Puempel Z3ros trades Valadislav Namestnikov and Eric Comrie
  10. Yeah he's been impressive. Still has to work on a few things but he's still young for a big man. I think his biggest weaknesses are his passing/awareness on offensive end and defensive end.
  11. Well if you look at SN's own numbers its not hard to see a $50 million increase on the TV side. They had a 68% increase in TV viewership. So if the Jays TV deal was worth say $80 million and you applied the 68% increase that is $54 million right there. That doesn't even count the postseason which gave SN an extra 30-40 million viewers.
  12. I'm in favour of that strategy. I think if you do that you can trade Sanchez and/or Osuna to get a SP/young position player.
  13. I've seen some people have Thole's projected Arb. included in the Blue Jays salaries for next season. I don't get why the Blue Jays would even tender him. I don't think Thole gets a job on the 25 man roster of any other club so just sign him to a league min. contract. He really has no leverage since the only way he is on the club is because of Dickey.
  14. Revenue for the playoffs apparently isn't sold until the end of the regular season so they would get the benefits for this year. That 50 million took into account they extra money they would get this year for the TV slots since like you said they are pre-sold. There are smart business people who estimate their postseason run was worth way way more. Here is an article about it. I'm not sure its worth as much as they are saying but its certainly over $100 million. http://www.thestar.com/business/2015/10/08/blue-jays-playoff-run-adds-to-rogers-bottom-line.html
  15. Is anyone comfortable with Zobrist at 4/70? Because that is what baseball insiders think he would get. I'm in favour of signing a couple of guys like Lowe and Blanton for the pen then using Sanchez and/or Osuna as trade chips to get a good SP.
  16. Dave Cameron in his chat said Zobrist was way low. Expected him to get close to 4/76.
  17. John Jaso is another guy I would target. Great LH bat who would be a great fit in this lineup. If you trade EE he could be DH vs RHP or can just play him at 1B.
  18. Mark Lowe looks like he would be a guy to bring back if it only cost 8 million. Brett Anderson would be one of my targets. Especially at that cost. Rich Hill is interesting as a number 5 I'd sign Iwakuma to 3/42 in a heartbeat but think he gets more than that.
  19. I really like JV's game so far. Still has his weaknesses but he seems like a force in the post.
  20. Gross. He's also 34 and can't hit whatsoever.
  21. The increase in TV ratings alone from August-October was worth more than $50 million. Add in the Ticket sales, merchandise, sponsorship and I would bet it was over 100 million especially if you were to count all the extra money Sportsnet.ca and the fan 590 made as well. SN had their best month in their entire history in October. It was all because of the Blue Jays.
  22. Bud Norris wouldn't seem like a bad target to take a 1 year flier on. Maybe sign a 1/6 so he can restore his value. Could be a good number 4/5 starter.
  23. Funny looking back how there were posters on here crying about Matt West and Preston Guilmet being sent to the minors instead of Osuna.
  24. AA said that the reason he signed a Visquel/Derosa was to help the clubhouse chemistry. Said that in the past he thought he could sign 1 guy to help make the clubhouse better but that in hindsight you need to have a roster with 20 of 25 good character guys. Escobar/Rasmus/Lawrie must really of been cancers lol
  25. Thing is if Goins was performing at a rate of less than a 1WAR SS fulltime he probably doesn't continue being a starter and wouldn't get a full season's worth of playing time.
