  1. Reddick is still probably going to get something like 5/85 so its not like he's cheap. Like Shapiro mentioned in his interview, if they have a really good year payroll will be much higher and they can afford some of these players. That is why I hate people saying it will be better off if the jays are out of it by the deadline so they can get futures by trading JB, EE etc.. If that happens payroll drops a ton and everyone loses.
  2. I don't blame him one bit. He even alluded in his interview the reason he likes to use the player's tribune is because he can tell his entire story and not just answering the media's questions which can be framed in a different context.
  3. That was a good interview, nice to see the lighter side of Jose. Ironic he did it with TSN. I get the feeling Jose isn't Sportsnet's biggest fan lol. Interesting point he makes around the 10 min mark about some of the reasons why he believes he will age better than most.
  4. If Curry keeps it up this will be the greatest single season ever for a player. Scary that he legit has range anywhere inside 30 feet.
  5. What makes you think he didn't work out before? Pretty good chance he's been lifting since he was 17.
  6. Oilers fleeced the Pens. Got a 3rd round pick for one of the worst Dmen in the NHL. I'm amazed how many teams still are bad at evaluating defenseman.
  7. Wow nice trade.
  8. lol at the thought of Lowry in the triangle.
  9. lol park your car at a Brampton/Mississauga grocery store parking lot on a Saturday and leave it there for the whole day and see how many scratches are on it after.
  10. I think he just did it for the pics. Honestly though if I had a car like that I'd want to park taking up 2 spots. So many people are dumb and scratch your doors by carelessly opening their door into yours.
  11. By tweeting a pic of his car?..
  12. Interested why you think Edwin is the better hitter? Jose has the better walk rate and his contact rates really haven't declined at all, while Edwin's zone contact % has declined each of the last 3 years. Bodies aside, it looks like Edwin is already declining. Jose's power has declined from what it was but he swung at less pitches out of the zone last year than any season after 2009. He's walked more than he has struck out in each of the last 2 seasons. Like you said both are still fantastic hitters but I don't think Edwin is the better hitter now nor will he be in 2 years.
  13. You talk about Jose's shoulder but don't mention EE just had a hernia and finger issues all year. Not to mention injuries in the past and the "type" of body that breaks down. Also Bautista was very productive in the DH spot when he was there so it didn't exactly "handcuff" the team. Having JB and EE both in the lineup at that time helped the team more than if JB was on the DL.
  14. http://www.cp24.com/sports/toronto-blue-jays-news/new-dirt-infield-at-rogers-centre-will-be-an-adjustment-donaldson-says-1.2792849
  15. The Blue Jays are part of the media division which is separate. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/no-love-for-blue-jays-in-rogerss-sports-spending-blame-an-accounting-rule/article28709405/
  16. You many know nothing, but I as well as other people have a fair idea on how a team's business operates. We don't know specific details, but we know that Rogers has to be "making money off the Blue Jays every year" for its shareholders. Whatever money the Blue Jays make goes to cover the losses of the media division of Rogers which includes the big NHL contract. Lastly, its not even a top 10 payroll....
  17. My point was in reference to payroll. The Jays could have some wacko meddling owner, but even then there is a very good chance payroll is higher because of the whole corporate structure Rogers faces with owning the team.
  18. Theres a very good chance. Thats like saying we don't know that the Blue Jays will win more games than the Phillies this year. Sure, it can happen where the Phillies win more games, but the odds are pretty damn stacked.
  19. Sure, but its extremely unlikely because if it was a single owner the franchise would be getting double the TV contract they get currently. Since the Jays are owned by Rogers, SN gets the exclusive rights to broadcast all games for a fraction of the cost compared to the amount they would get if it was an open bidding war. So unless the owner was pocketing tens of Millions of dollars every year they payroll likely would be higher.
  20. Last year they had a lot of good depth signings?
  21. Jeez. So much crap in one post.
  22. how is that statement not true? If the Jays were owned by a single owner or even MLSE their payroll would be a lot higher.
  23. The dollar just seems like a convinient excuse for Rogers not to spend more money, just like the "5 year contract policy"
  24. Raps have the better roster but Stevens is one of the best coaches in the NBA. In the playoffs with the pace of play coaching becomes even more important, so thats why I rate the Celtics pretty high. I will say D Rose has looked very good lately. Has that extra notch which he lacked since the injury.
