  1. Yeah Houston is a good fit with the short porch in LF. I always find there are teams you don't think would be interested that jump into the mix once FA gets underway. If Jose has a good season he is going to get paid and good chance its more than his value going forward is worth.
  2. I think the problem is he went public. All star players think like that including guys on his own team like Donaldson. JD probably wanted a ridiculous long term contract this offseason that would of made us all think he was crazy too. Difference is he kept it to himself and his agent.
  3. I still make that trade every day of the week. This team doesn't make the playoffs with Reyes still at SS and at this point he's a $30 million sunk cost.
  4. I still remember watching that 4 HR game vs Tampa. Still, one of the most impressive performances I've ever seen by an athlete.
  5. Yeah playing time incentives for position players can be disasters. If you want to go that route you can put in time on the DL and that kind of stuff.
  6. Big men over 30 are disasters. Whoever gives him a max is going to regret it soon after.
  7. I think Shapiro underestimated the media in this market. Its close to Boston/New York right now after all the success the Jays had. The Raptors and Leafs have made it a priority that nothing leaks at all to the media while with the Jays its been the opposite.
  8. In his interview the other day he alluded to that he would be open to a trade if the team wasn't in it. He didn't say those exact words but along the lines. No player his age is going to waive a trade if they go from a losing team to a contender that has a chance to win the World Series all because of "getting back at the team".
  9. I don't think I'd give Edwin more than 3/60. It seems low but I believe he isn't going to age well at all.
  10. Be interesting what people would do for EE/JD extensions today.
  11. 5/100 if its today. Say he puts up a 5 Win season this year it would change things.
  12. I would have signed a guy like Blanton and used the rest of the money to improve elsewhere. I think Hutch and Chavez are are as good if not better than Estrada.
  13. Im looking forward to the 2016 regular season.
  14. This is hilarious
  15. lol 2 more reporters confirmed it. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2016/02/23/bautista-has-likely-priced-himself-out-of-toronto-arthur.html
  16. With Ortiz retiring they don't have a DH next year. If you want to move Hanley to DH then you would have 1B open, both of which Bautista could play.
  17. Huh? There isn't a better park than Fenway for Jose's skillset. He could be an above average LF there too.
  18. You should go to a pitch talks event. A lot of those guys participate in them.
  19. I don't think the Blue Jays would sign him to that, but perhaps other teams will cough *Boston*
  20. It seems like Jose wants his AAV to be one of the highest in MLB. Since he's very confident in his ability to play a while I wonder if he would take a short term contract with a higher AAV. Something like 3 years/85 Million. Regardless I think he is going to FA.
  21. Brunt, Davidi, BNS and Arden Zwelling are all pretty good.
  22. One really good thing the Jays FO has done that doesn't get much publicity is their off the field hirings.
  23. If it was a meaningless prospect than you could HAVE just substituted another scrub prospect. A trade wouldn't have been held up if it was Mitch Nay or Matt Dean.
