  1. Nice job receiving by Jimenez.
  2. Whats his numbers L vs L? Since most of his playing time will come against LHP filling in for Saunders I think that is what matters most. He has options so he can always be CF in Buffalo and then be called up when an injury happens.
  3. Sucks Sanchez will be against another crap lineup again. Would be nice to see him against MLB competition.
  4. What? Thats like saying if you were one of the best accountants or programmers in your field you should only make 120k/year even if you were worth 200k. Obviously the players are worth these salaries otherwise teams wouldn't be paying them.
  5. They both sucked so I don't see how it makes a difference. Penny was like 8th on the Buffalo depth chart.
  6. It makes sense if the value in the short term outweighs the risk of being stuck with the entire contract but with the deals we have seen that really hasn't happened. Maybe Heyward but when you are getting into multiple opt outs all of the risk is on the team.
  7. I think it comes down to is where the 4th OF gets his playing time. If its in LF vs LHP then Lake makes more sense. I can't see Pillar getting many days off in the early part of the season so being a backup CF might not be a big factor in the decision making process.
  8. In reference to all of the opt out contracts this year. He slightly backtracked saying there could be a scenario where it would makes sense.
  9. Lake or Cecilliani. Pompey wasn't going to make the team as a 4th OF anyway.
  10. Lol Brad Penny also chose to retire.
  11. Huh? Shapiro isn't the GM.. He even said on the radio he was impressed with the moves Atkins made shoring up depth implying he didn't really have any part in those deals.
  12. I'm interested to see if Sanchez could go to Buffalo. He mentioned the goal is to make the team as good as possible in 2016 so that would mean Sanchez in the bullpen but he's also mentioned how development is really only done in the minors since its incredibly difficult in the majors.
  13. Thats a real quote.
  14. For those interested Shapiro will be at a Pitch Talks event in Toronto on April 7 as well.
  15. I actually was on hold on the line, didn't get on. Wanted to ask more in detail about the high performance hires and the plan going forward. Instead we got some Joe from Missisauga ask the 500th question Shapiro has faced about EE and JB Free Agency.
  16. I think anytime you can get a person of his magnitude on for that much time its a win. He said he'd never do player option contracts (opt outs) so that was pretty interesting. I'd also say judging b his comments it sounds like Floyd will be the 5th starter and Biagini will make the bullpen.
  17. Shapiro is on fan590 for the full hour. Been a great half hour so far.
  18. He wasn't going to make the team anyway.
  19. lol Hoffman points to the sky for a popup when the ball is smoked to the warning track.
  20. Nice inning by Biagini there. Ump missed strike 3 right down the middle to Altuve.
  21. Hes one of the better framers in the league. If you set up far away it makes the pitch look better even if its off the plate.
