  1. That's why Kawasaki/Tolleson makes more sense. Solid platoon plus Muni can slide over to short if Reyes needs to sit.
  2. I like having Travis in AAA as depth, so I'd be OK with Izturis/Tolleson for the short-term. Or Kawasaki/Tolleson and DFA Izturis if Macier proves to be FUBAR in Spring Training.
  3. Should be the 4th OF if he is healthy.
  4. Yeah, the price is going to be some fringy minor league reliever. Nothing more. History does not support the idea of a top prospect changing hands here.
  5. Seriously. Advanced stats hate Navarro. He's the ideal guy for Stewart. True baseball player.
  6. Dave Stewart saying he is not pursuing another catcher. Hope he's bluffing. Who am I kidding? Navarro is here to stay. Just have to accept it.
  7. Cashman when he doesn't have to spend insane amounts of money is a smart guy. Damn.
  8. This off-season went from super exciting in November to boring as hell since. At least make a waiver claim or a non-Kawasaki minor league deal. Something, anything!
  9. Navarro sucks. Trade him for anything with a pulse, especially if it saves five mil.
  10. Cecil, Delgado, and Loup would be a very good pen. That's the guy I would target, but at this point I'd be ok with any return as long as the Jays don't have Navarro on the team next season.
  11. I think Gose can be a 2 WAR player on defense alone. If he hits at all, then he has a chance to be very good. Problem is he hasn't hit.
  12. Yeah, Gose at #3 makes this list a little dubious, and I actually like Gose.
  13. Miami traded Escobar to the Rays right after the big Jays/Marlins trade. Karma. Send Zobrist to Toronto, Beane.
  14. Well, it's probably easier getting Zobrist from Beane than it would have been getting him from the Rays, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Damn, Zobrist in this lineup would be incredible.
  15. The A's don't look bad at all. If their SP stays healthy, they have a shot. At least it makes an AL East team a lot worse.
  16. Sanchez is Brandon League with worse command (in the minors at least). If the Rays would do Zobrist for Sanchez, then you do it and run.
  17. Absolutely, but depends on what the + is. Any chance trading Sanchez to a 3rd team for one of their top prospects and then flipping that prospect for Zobrist? Sanchez does not seem like a Rays type of pitcher.
  18. Pastornicky looked like he had potential in 2011, but it's been a steep decline since then. I'm not sure he'd be much of an upgrade, but as minor league depth, why not?
  19. The whole point of trading Lind was to free up DH for Edwin and to periodically rest Bautista and Reyes during the season. Start Edwin at DH, Smoak/Valencia at 1B, and trade Navarro's contract to any team willing to take him.
  20. I'd rather have Smoak at 1B than Navarro at DH, so I hope they don't keep him around. I think trading him for simply salary relief would be justifiable. Either Alex is holding out for a real return or there are simply no takers. I could buy the latter. Navarro is not very good.
  21. Drew graded out very poorly defensively at 2B last season and that is where the Yankees intend to play him. He's still a good buy low by the Yanks, but unless he learns how to field 2B at a high level, a lot will depend on his inconsistent bat.
  22. I thought, and still feel, that Sanchez will start the year in the rotation, but AA doing absolutely nothing with the pen gives him a logical reason to start Sanchez in the bullpen with Norris in the rotation. That's fine if all the starters stay healthy all season, but in that scenario, the depth starters are Estrada, Hendriks, Francis, and Oramas. That's not pretty, and Sanchez isn't even a guarantee to be a good reliever next season.
  23. In football you can beat your wife, abuse your kids, take PED's, etc, and still be celebrated. In baseball, if you take PED's, you're the scum of the earth.
  24. Chris Martin was DFA by the Rockies. You know the drill, Alex.
