  1. No one is going to take Reyes at 3/70 left on his deal. Maybe trade him for Colon and then agree to eat another $20M the next two years, and the Mets might do it, but that's about it. The only other team is the Yankees but they got their SS now.
  2. Janssen's arm is held together with glue. The Jays got his best years. I don't want the Jays to be the team that is paying him $4M when his arm gives out.
  3. Drabek is out of options and AA seems determined not to lose anyone on waivers pretty much every year. What are the odds that he makes the pen out of Spring Training? I don't have any faith in him at this point but he was the centerpiece of the Halladay deal so there may be extra motivation to hope he pans out as a reliever.
  4. I wouldn't worry about him blocking Travis. He can always become a utility IF once Travis is ready, and Reyes will miss time eventually so he can cover short too. I know nothing about this guy but I'll take your word on it. I'm down as long as it's not going to prevent some bullpen acquisitions.
  5. Someone must have mentioned Josh Donaldson's name. Last time that happened it lead to an intense talk about sex and infidelity, so I'm blaming him for this.
  6. Wouldn't it be easier to just bring Kawasaki back? Is this guy significantly better than what we could expect from Muni? He will cost at least three times more.
  7. Friedman's Dodgers with that front office and unlimited money is going to be a monster.
  8. If Dave Stewart likes Reyes and wants to trade for him, he'd be my new favorite GM.
  9. Agreed. If ~1 WAR relievers are getting $6M a year, then sign a 3 WAR starter for $13M per and put Sanchez in the pen. It might hurt Sanchez's development, but you either want to win in 2015 or half-ass it. That decision is up to them.
  10. Delgado pitched a lot better in relief last season (61.1 IP, 46 H, 28 BB, 78 K, 5 HR). A young reliever with four more years of control and potential to be a high leverage reliever to pair with Cecil would be a great get for Navarro. Not sure the D-Backs would do it, but AA's been doing some crazy things in the past month, so who knows.
  11. Yeah, Lester is going to go back to Boston. I don't know why he is dragging it out for so long. It's not a mystery. Maybe just trying to extract an extra couple of mil. If he goes to the Cubs, I'd be shocked.
  12. Yep, Ziegler seems most realistic. Cost is a wash and it fills needs for both teams. I'd try to get Delgado, though. Aim high.
  13. Randall Delgado would be nice.
  14. Grilli, Ogando, Crain. Sign all three of them. It's not going to cost more than $10M combined, most likely. Do it.
  15. He has a contract with the Orioles (same situation as Farrell). They won't let him go to Toronto for free.
  16. AA's off-season thus far has been good enough to where I want to give him a chance, but Duquette would be an amazing hire. He's built playoff teams everywhere he's gone, and while he wouldn't be the GM in the president role, he'd set the tone for how the organization would be run. Hope it happens.
  17. My lineup (based on current players) would be: SS Reyes RF Bautista DH Encarnacion 3B Donaldson CA Martin LF Saunders 1B Smoak 2B Travis CF Pompey Put the four best hitters at the top. If you want Martin hitting 2nd, then put him #2 with Bautista, Edwin, and Donaldson following. Everything else stays the same.
  18. Grilli, Ogando, and Crain. You could get all three combined for less than Robertson alone.
  19. Navarro for Valbuena would be great, but I wouldn't include Osuna. Keep all the high upside pitching prospects, if possible. One is bound to pan out.
  20. The internet and social media are both the best and worst things to happen to all of us. I don't understand the logic in posting your own child's crying reaction just to get some hits on YouTube. It boggles my mind.
  21. Thankfully AA hired a guy with no history of clubhouse blow-ups with players to manage the team then. We can only blame the players for perceived clubhouse issues because a guy like Gibbons would never stoop to that level.
  22. Well, one team was going to try to be the Royals this winter. Wasn't expecting it to be the Yankees, though.
  23. Starting Sanchez in the big league rotation is crazy. He should start in AAA and work his way up like Stroman did. I'm not sure why the Jays are in such a hurry with him. It seems he's either going to be in the big league rotation or big league pen. No in between. Why? Add another starter, put Sanchez/Norris in AAA, and then call them up based on need.
  24. Seriously. Donaldson, Martin, Travis, Saunders....and he's likely not done. Amazing what he has done in one plus month.
  25. How about signing Shields and trading Dickey/Thole for a 2B? Then trade Navarro for a reliever to save more money, and invest whatever is left in the pen.
