  1. Wow, I thought a new development happened for this to reach 14 pages. I should have known better.
  2. Travis starts, Santiago backs him up, Izturis is DFA, and Goins/Kawasaki are in AAA. Done.
  3. I still have hope for Drabek. Maybe I'm alone in that. Give the failed starter a chance.
  4. Santiago earns $1.1M if he makes the team. Looks like Izturis/Santiago at 2B until Travis saves us.
  5. @Wilnerness590: Very surprised Santiago career splits are so similar. But he did crush lefties from 2007-11, albeit SSS. #Bluejays #Jays Wilner at his finest.
  6. Santiago is going to save us from Belisario's excessive groundball-itis.
  7. You must be a huge fan of the Estrada trade. Flyball pitcher with Saunders and Pompey in the outfield.
  8. @Wilnerness590: Hearing that #Bluejays are likely to announce Belisario signing today. Expect it to be a minor-league deal. #Jays #QuantumLeap If it's a minor league deal, then I don't see an issue with it. One of him or Lopez should be able to contribute.
  9. Wilner is saying he expects it's a minor league deal. If that's true, nice deal.
  10. Morosi saying a deal is very close now. Don't know why Belisario warrants multiple updates before it's even official. I guess Morosi looking for dem Retweets.
  11. Man, Izturis will get $4M this year (counting the buyout). Couple that with Romero's $8.1M (counting buyout), and that's so much money being spent on crap. Imagine eliminating those two deals and then trading Navarro? It's a whole new ball game. Damn.
  12. If Travis is the starting 2B, then the back-up infielder will have to play some SS, which would eliminate Izturis from that spot. Probably Goins or Kawasaki in that scenario. Pillar, Valencia, Goins, and Navarro would be my guess with the above lineup. I still think the 0 WAR tandem of Izturis/Goins will win out over Travis, though.
  13. AA valuing WAR, framing, and now FIP. You've changed, Alex.
  14. Morosi and Heyman have linked the Jays to every reliever on the market. I guess we are standing pat.
  15. AA is terrible with depth. Always has been. Puts way too much pressure on his 25-man roster to stay healthy and effective. I'm not a fan of Sanchez, but he better be the #5 starter. Not because he will be good, but because Norris can start in AAA. If Norris is the fifth starter and Sanchez is the closer, then this team is screwed the moment a starter gets hurt.
  16. If the Jays are below .500 in late-May, I'm willing to bet DeMarlo Hale will be managing from June-onwards. AA won't be fired mid-season. They'll wait until the end of the year, if anything.
  17. I have a bad feeling about this. If Snider breaks out with the O's, that would suck. If he did it in Pittsburgh, then fine, but not in Baltimore!
  18. Yeah, seriously. Papelbon is good, but way overpaid, and not worth giving up assets for a reliever. If he was a 3 win reliever, then sure, but he's not. Use the money on two relievers, and trade Navarro for a 3rd.
  19. Nothing. Him not valuing Melky after his 2014 season was a good thing.
  20. His use of catchers was also very telling. Traded practically every decent catcher in the system to give the keys to JPA, and then a year later signed a notoriously lazy and bad framer in Navarro while limiting a good framer like Kratz to AAA duty. Yet this off-season, he signed Martin because of defense and framing. Just seems like a complete 180 from his typical mindset. He also didn't seem to value Melky at all, and then traded a 1 WAR starter at peak value for a potential 2-3 WAR OF. It seemed like two years ago he went for all big names that could sell tickets, and this year it was WAR/value based acquisitions. I definitely like this AA better, but why did it take him so long?
  21. It's strange though AA suddenly started making moves based on projected WAR. He was never like that before, and then suddenly we see Martin, Donaldson, Saunders, Travis, and some underrated waiver pick-ups. Either he has someone under him that would make a great GM or he's finally learning.
  22. Yep. Barring a deep playoff run or World Series title, I think AA is done the moment a new president comes in. He went out with a blaze of glory though. Made some great moves when firing him after 2014 season was justifiable.
  23. Platoon Kawasaki with either Tolleson or Izturis until Travis is ready.
  24. Don't worry, once Eddie is done negotiating with Baltimore on April 5, then Alex will be free to make moves. Be patient.
  25. One good thing may have come out of this. I never really thought the Jays had a real rival (20 years without the playoffs can do that), but maybe now the Jays/Orioles can spill their hatred for each other on the field. The fans already hate each other, and now the front offices hate each other.
