  1. Reyes has a $4M buyout which they will surely use so his 2017 salary is $26M. The above could work if you trade Reyes for nothing but salary relief and go cheap at short with Travis at 2B, but no one is taking that contract.
  2. But Navarro's RBI and clutch stats make him a real baseball player, the type Arizona wants to have. He's worth more for that reason alone.
  3. Navarro for Pennington and a reliever makes too much sense not to happen.
  4. Yeah if Dickey feels more comfortable with Thole, then keep that alignment, but have Martin catch Dickey once or twice in case of need. Wakefield had his own personal catcher, and that was during Varitek's prime. It didn't hurt Boston. Trade Navarro and let Dickey have his puppet with him. No big deal either way. At least Gibbons won't overplay Thole, like he will Navarro.
  5. Ignoring cost, what makes the 2015 team better: Aoki in LF/Happ #5 starter, or Saunders in LF/Sanchez #5 starter?
  6. Yeah, I think Donaldson wins this one. Either that or we get a last minute long-term deal announced.
  7. According to Heyman, Donaldson submitted $5.75M and the Jays submitted $4.3M.
  8. Kawasaki should start vs RHP. That says more about how bad our non-Travis 2B options are, but he's the best alternative in that spot.
  9. I don't disagree with that but my main point was locking up players who are difference makers rather than locking up guys who haven't had an established level of success yet. Although I think Donaldson would be open to a five year deal if the money was right. Late bloomer, nearing 30, four more years of financial uncertainty. He might bite.
  10. Donaldson you try to lock up. Saunders you wait and see. He hasn't had a breakout yet.
  11. Aoki signs with the Giants, $4.7M over one year with an option for a 2nd year ($4M + $0.7M buyout). That looks like a very reasonable deal.
  12. That's why Kawasaki/Tolleson makes more sense. Solid platoon plus Muni can slide over to short if Reyes needs to sit.
  13. I like having Travis in AAA as depth, so I'd be OK with Izturis/Tolleson for the short-term. Or Kawasaki/Tolleson and DFA Izturis if Macier proves to be FUBAR in Spring Training.
  14. Should be the 4th OF if he is healthy.
  15. Yeah, the price is going to be some fringy minor league reliever. Nothing more. History does not support the idea of a top prospect changing hands here.
  16. Seriously. Advanced stats hate Navarro. He's the ideal guy for Stewart. True baseball player.
  17. Dave Stewart saying he is not pursuing another catcher. Hope he's bluffing. Who am I kidding? Navarro is here to stay. Just have to accept it.
  18. Cashman when he doesn't have to spend insane amounts of money is a smart guy. Damn.
  19. This off-season went from super exciting in November to boring as hell since. At least make a waiver claim or a non-Kawasaki minor league deal. Something, anything!
  20. Navarro sucks. Trade him for anything with a pulse, especially if it saves five mil.
  21. Cecil, Delgado, and Loup would be a very good pen. That's the guy I would target, but at this point I'd be ok with any return as long as the Jays don't have Navarro on the team next season.
  22. I think Gose can be a 2 WAR player on defense alone. If he hits at all, then he has a chance to be very good. Problem is he hasn't hit.
  23. Yeah, Gose at #3 makes this list a little dubious, and I actually like Gose.
  24. Miami traded Escobar to the Rays right after the big Jays/Marlins trade. Karma. Send Zobrist to Toronto, Beane.
