  1. Carrasco is 28, a front of the rotation starter, and signed for 3 years + 2 team options, with only $20m guaranteed and $37m over five years if team options are picked up. Hell yeah you trade Norris for him. It will take way more than him, though.
  2. Now we're f***ing talking.
  3. Remember when people said one team will eventually break from the pack in the East? yeah, it's the Yankees. Gotta aim for the 2nd WC now.
  4. The 2nd quote is when someone suggested the Jays should sell. The Orioles and Jays are separated by one game. Why should one sell and the other expect to win the 2nd WC?
  5. I stayed up until 2 am to watch this s***. I hate being a Blue Jays fan.
  6. Donaldson striking out on ball 4 was the turning point. The Jays should have taken the lead that inning. This just feels like an impending one run loss coming. f***.
  7. The next GM/president will have no ties to JP Ricciardi, so thankfully it might mean the end for Sling Blade as manager. One can only hope. He's not qualified to coach a t-ball team.
  8. Let's rag on Cito Gaston some more and ignore what's going on today. It's more fun.
  9. I'm convinced that people who defend Gibbons don't actually watch games. He's so, so bad. Of course the error leads to a run. Why not?
  10. I think when Gibbons doesn't like someone, he tends to use them sparingly regardless of the situation (Smoak, Hendriks). In this case, he's using inferior talent because of that bias, and it's costing the team. AA has to find a way to get rid of Navarro and Colabello by the deadline. Dummy proof the roster so that Gibbons doesn't have a choice. That's all you can do other than firing him and hiring someone who actually knows the difference between a good player and a bad one (and if Alex hasn't fired him by now, he never will).
  11. And their ownership actually cares about winning, so if they need to make an upgrade, they'll do it. I think they might be on the verge of running away with it.
  12. If it's tied or a one run game late, then Loup and Tepera will surely get the nod.
  13. And Kazmir goes tomorrow, so he could have put this lineup out there tomorrow instead of tonight if he wanted Mushroom and Valencia to play so badly. The Jays have to win in spite of Gibbons. That's just the reality of the situation.
  14. Jays beat Archer a few days ago. Need to get that same magic going against Gray.
  15. Teixeira has been amazing for the Yankees this season. Damn. Him and A-Rod have found the fountain of youth (or roids). Too bad.
  16. Gray's numbers against righties and lefties are almost identical this season. He shuts lefties down, no question, but the difference is hardly enough to make the defense worse for a marginal, if any, offensive upgrade (since Mushroom is still hitting, flukey BABIP and all). Whatever. It's Gibbons, and up against the opposing team's ace. Just have to wish for some luck.
  17. Does Gibbons think Sonny Gray is left-handed? Why the hell are Valencia and Lolabello playing?
  18. Morosi is a clown. Only Rosenthal rumors mean anything.
  19. If the Jays could get Shields for nothing and just absorb his salary, I'd do it. His contract sucks (he ain't opting out at age 35 unless he really hates Canada) so you're looking at 3/65 for him in his mid-30's. That's a pretty big investment. I wouldn't give up actual talent for him, but if you can get him without giving up anything of value, then go for it. Assets > money. Not to Rogers maybe, but no more giving up top prospects for vets.
  20. For a WC spot, I'd stand pat, too. For the division, tough to say. I still wouldn't give up the farm, but I'd be open to moving pieces as long as the return was more than one season of value (like Hamels). We should strive to be the Cardinals. Make the playoffs every year. I don't want to make any short-term moves. Hamels would be the only one with long-term implications, so I'd bend a little if he were involved, but for a two month rental, forget it.
  21. AA needs to pull off a move or two similar to what the Yankees did last season with McCarthy and Headley. Get some impending free agents with deceivingly poor numbers for cheap. Not sure what Latos velocity looks like, but his overall numbers look good. The Marlins owe us for taking the Reyes contract.
