  1. Fangraphs now has the Jays projected to win 83 games......and the 2nd Wild Card spot. Is the AL really that mediocre?
  2. Nice win, and Gibbons used the right relievers to end it! Progress.
  3. Has Delabar pitched since the ASB? I mean, you can give him an inning in that case. Why Schultz though, if he's your set up guy now?
  4. Looks like Hendriks is the long man now, so he'll be needed in case Doubront implodes tomorrow. Still gotta use Tepera here, if anyone. Gibbons is as derp as ever.
  5. Possibly, and I hope that's the case. Would love to have him back for another year or two.
  6. Schultz in tonight so that Tepera and Loup will be fresh for tomorrow in case the game is close. If Osuna warms up, then Gibbons is certifiably insane. Not just stupid, but insane.
  7. Nah, he'll turn it down. He can get a similar offer elsewhere from a better team, or possibly a team/city where he'll be comfortable in with his family. The Jays would probably need to offer something like 2/30 to get him to consider to stay. I would, as I doubt the team will be able to sign any reasonable decent pitcher with whatever money they have available this winter, but I still think he'll go somewhere else. Dude knows he's good and can pick his spot.
  8. I hope the Jays can re-sign Buehrle for two more years. Great influence on young pitchers and always gets results. He'll be missed if/when he leaves.
  9. Nice tack on runs. Let Buehrle complete this s***. He got this.
  10. Add more runs so Osuna can get another day off.
  11. Reyes managed to strike out despite Graveman throwing 7 pitches all out of the strike zone. 48 mil and 2 years left on his contract. Count it down.
  12. Ahh, the good old west coast trip in July. What could possibly go wrong?
  13. That's the likely scenario assuming a miracle happens and the Jays actually make the post-season. I very much doubt the payroll will come close to what it is now next season. Rogers has increased salary and then cut it substantially before.
  14. If Smoak is now officially the starting 1B against rhp, then good job Gibby. It took you three and a half months, but you figured out who your best 1B option is. Just replace Carrera/Lolabello with Pompey, and good to go.
  15. I meant he wouldn't be able to make a trade at all, hence limiting damage. He is ready to overpay for something to placate the fans/try to save his job. If he has no money, then the chances of finding a rotation upgrade making 500k is very slim. Fiers might be the only realistic guy I can think of that fits that mold and who is realistic trade candidate. If he has no money, then it's more likely he stands pat, which is what he should do rather than trade more prospects to field a .500 team.
  16. Yeah Sanchez to the pen seems to signal that trading for pen help is not going to happen. It doesn't need to. Pen is fine. It's the rotation that needs help, hence the Fiers talk. AA going for a cheap as hell rotation option means he probably has no money to play with, despite what is being said in the media. That's a good thing. Limits the amount of damage he can do in a trade.
  17. Sanchez is going to the pen because he got hurt. If he stayed healthy, and maintained the flukey ERA, you think they would have moved him?
  18. Cashman was on ESPN Radio this afternoon, and in reference to Sabathia, he mentioned that if you look deeper into CC's numbers using more advanced stats you will see that he has been unlucky and that his numbers will normalize as the year goes on. Cashman at the very least understands FIP, so he likely understands other advanced metrics as well, which Girardi likely does as well based on the way he manages. AA and Gibbons look at ERA, and don't give two shits about defense, that much is for sure.
  19. What would it realistically cost for Gomez and Fiers? Pompey would almost certainly be one piece. For Fiers alone, I wouldn't give up a top prospect (Pompey, Norris, Hoffman, etc).
  20. Not surprising. Pre arb salary in 2015 and three years of control after that. AA cannot add payroll and nothing he's done since the Happ trade has even hinted that he could.
  21. @Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: #BlueJays showing strong interest in #Brewers RHP Mike Fiers. No deal close; MIL not especially motivated to move him.
  22. Bingo. Pen isn't bad, the man handling it is.
  23. Estrada is doing well but he is what he is. Don't fall in love with a hot streak in a free agent year. Just hope he continues this all season and goes on to get a deserved payday from another team in the winter.
  24. Sanchez was going to be the team's closer before Stroman went down, so I think they always viewed him in the pen, at least in 2015. Why they did it now when they have Doubront as their current fifth starter is the question. Regardless, maybe another arm in the pen that Gibbons trusts will prevent him from doing so much derpy decision making. Of course, Sanchez will actually have to do well out of the pen, and coming off injury, that's not a guarantee.
  25. My guess is Sanchez to the pen and Norris to the rotation.
