  1. His career high in innings was this season, all as a reliever (74 regular season innings, 9 more in the playoffs). The most he threw in the minors in a single season was 43. He has had TJ and now a shoulder issue crept up in the playoffs (may not be serious but something to keep an eye on). I just don't see how he can throw 100-150+ innings as a starter next season. I think the argument of starter vs. reliever in terms of workload is definitely arguable until more data is put into it (especially with Gibbons using relievers so recklessly), but Osuna is a different case for me. Mechanics don't look great, injury history, and lack of innings. Bad combination for a starter. He's already a pretty damn good reliever so just hope he has four more good seasons left in him and let him walk after that, or trade him before that.
  2. I'd prefer Fowler to Reddick, but for some reason I get the feeling Reddick might be the easier sign. Fowler won't play CF in Toronto and that might be important to him. I'd also prefer Pearce to Thames for obvious reasons. Otherwise, count me in. Holliday makes so much sense for this roster given the way it is constructed that it will be a shame if/when it doesn't happen. Pearce too. Let's see Atkins work some magic here. Also, I've said this the past two off-seasons so I'll say it again, trade for Jarrod Dyson. Not sure how, or what it would take, or even if KC would want to do it given how cheap/valuable he is, but find a way. Underrated as hell.
  3. With his ego, no. I could see him coming back if his market is dry, but not by accepting the QO.
  4. Isn't Donaldson friends with Reddick? Get Reddick to play RF, Holliday to DH, enjoy the two picks from JB/EE.
  5. Shapiro said he would not do a player option. I distinctly remember him saying that in the off-season.
  6. If Osuna lasted 100 innings as a starter before his arm exploded, I'd be shocked. Ship has sailed.
  7. I read the Thames article on Fangraphs. Don't know what to expect out of him, but on a cheap one year deal, and in a platoon with someone, he might be an interesting target. Just don't let him play the outfield. Pearce fits this roster like a glove. He fills more than one need (positional flexibility, hits LHP). Needs to happen.
  8. The Jays get two picks with EE and JB leaving. Wonder if they splurge on a qualified FA.
  9. He was awful last season no question but good prior to that. I'm not his biggest fan but as a buy low, I don't see many options.
  10. Insert crying Jordan.
  11. Fowler would be great but he will be expensive. Out of the free agent list, Gomez might be the best buy low option.
  12. ALDS (all three games) and WC game. The regular season is a bit of a blur to me.
  13. What's it going to take to get Puig? I realize he's a douche but we need to replace one in RF, and Puig is young and cheap. Maybe some upside there.
  14. I can see the logic in trading Happ from a sell high perspective, but this is his 2nd straight 3 WAR season, so I don't think it's necessarily a mirage. Even if he declines he will still probably be worth the deal he is on, and the Jays still lack SP depth in the upper minors so he's not expendable.
  15. That 2011 season he had, despite the team being mediocre, was unbelievable. Definitely an all time great Jay.
  16. Call up Billy Beane ASAP.
  17. True, they didn't have much of a rotation at this time last year, so it was more than just depth pick ups, but this winter will require more.
  18. The off-season is going to be nuts. Last winter, the Jays just needed some depth to surround whatever was left of the 2015 team. This winter they will need to do some very heavy lifting. Should be fun.
  19. Yeah I don't think Osuna is going to start, ever. Ship has sailed. I see Biagini starting in AAA as a SP though. Pen arms are easy as hell to find. If they think he has any upside as a starter, then they should see what they got.
  20. Not mad at all. I mean it sucks that the Jays lost, but nothing but respect for the Indians. They played great ball all series and are incredibly well managed. They also didn't even have Carrasco, Salazar, and Brantley, which makes it even more astonishing that they played so well. That team is really well built. The fact that Shapiro had a hand in building that team, or at least was in the same role as he is now in that setting, is a great sign for the Jays.
  21. The worst case scenario for giving Bautista the QO is he comes back for one year at $17M. That would actually benefit the team, not hurt them. Bautista is getting the QO, and he should.
  22. He is signed through 2017. So seems like a perfect scapegoat if the team does poorly.
  23. His ego is too big to accept the QO, but I could see him coming back. Poor season by his standards, two DL stints, age 36, draft pick attached to him, has about as much range in the outfield as a pylon, etc. Wouldn't shock me if he comes back to the Jays when other teams don't give him the type of money he wants. I wouldn't mind if he did on a 1 year deal to be honest. Just stick him at DH. The Martin contract, especially the way it was backloaded, was a bitch move by AA. He knew he was out the door and didn't have to deal with the worst part of the contract. Still had a fairly decent season but it was a big step down from last year. Have to hope he can bounce back next season. Maybe having a capable back-up will allow him to get more rest.
  24. Yeah seems like Gibbons will take Upton out the moment a righty is brought in, which is why he went with that alignment, but still he's putting in the weakest defensive alignment out there with Estrada on the mound. Just have to hope no balls are hit to Bautista, I guess.
  25. I'm talking about his entire post season numbers. They are garbage this year. If he was hitting like he was last year, then he'd still be a douche, but one we could live with. When he's a douche coming off a regular season where he had a lower WAR than Darwin Barney and s***** post season numbers on top of that, then yeah, his s*** is not going to fly as much. Did you even see his spring training tirade about his contract? Edwin was asked the same f***ing questions and he answered it about as classy as one could. Edwin said he wanted to stay but won't discuss during the season. Guess what? The media quit asking him about it after that. What a f***ing mind blowing concept! I guess you don't have to be an ******* and egomaniac when asked that question. Bautista did not get that memo apparently. As far as showing him respect for what he has done, what the hell does that mean? By saying he's acting like a douche (which he is) is not belittling any of his accomplishments. Come on.
