  1. O's are going to be good again. Bastards.
  2. Time to hit 4 singles in a row so the Jays can score again.
  3. O's hitting homers, Jays hitting singles. Ugh.
  4. I know, I'm not blaming Shatkins. It's going to take time to make the system better. That was my point. They have it on the right track.
  5. Tulo, Martin, and Pearce are hitting consecutively anyway. Just put Pearce in front of the other two.
  6. Two straight years without a pitching prospect anywhere near AAA, and exactly one position player prospect in Buffalo since Shatkins took over. Boy, they're going to have to pull back. So many prospects to promote and not enough big league positions to fill. Btw, system is probably middle of the pack. Once Vlad moves up and some of the other younger talent moves up, it will gradually improve.
  7. They should put Pearce behind Morales, followed by Tulo and Martin.
  8. Goins has somehow convinced two front offices, one that is big of sabermetrics, to think he's an MLB player. That's nuts.
  9. Teams can win and build a farm at the same time. It's not easy, and you have to eventually part with expendable prospects to add players in trades once you're high enough on the win curve to justify it, but AA hurt one to help the other. Eventually that is/was going to catch up to him. Shatkins did a good job keeping them a playoff team in 2016, and the 2017 team looks good enough to at least be a wild card team again, but still a long ways to go to clean the farm up.
  10. The Osuna/Castro promotions were dumn and won't happen under this regime. I doubt any players will look at that as a norm. But yes there should be a fine line between too slow and too fast when it comes to promotions.
  11. The bench was not put together properly. Smoak being on the roster and the team insisting on playing him has made it difficult to work around. Upton should still be on the team. Or a real LF should have been added so Zeke could be the back-up. Not very impressed with the roster decisions at the end of spring, but that's probably going to change pretty soon.
  12. Tulo and Martin are probably going to be ~100 wRC+ types over the next few years, and possibly lower than that for Martin if age catches up to him. They still do good things defensively so they'll have value, but time to bump the man (aka Pearce) up in the lineup. He's better than both of those guys at this point (at the plate).
  13. Barney pinch hitting for Zeke pretty much exposed how bad releasing Upton was. May not have made a difference anyway, but Barney should not be pinch hitting.
  14. Jays needed some more BABIP luck in that inning. Not expecting the Jays pen without Osuna to match Baltimore's (which is a great pen).
  15. Zeke against righties is still not optimal even though he's an upgrade defensively. Would have been nice to add Pagan.
  16. Gibby with this front office molding him is not bad.
  17. The front office loves Pearce more than Smoak. Unless Pearce is banged up, I think he will play everyday or close to it. It's either Zeke in left or Smoak at first with Pearce playing the other spot.
  18. Castro is not a robot. Mental part of the game is important too, especially for someone as young and inexperienced as he was. Osuna is an exception, not a norm.
  19. Pearce playing everyday, either at first or left, is great. Just keep the man healthy.
  20. Lol, Gibby (rightfully) hates Smoak. Gausman is a fastball pitcher isn't he? Seems like a good time to start the Smoakster.
  21. Maybe, but I don't think calling him up to the bigs straight from A-ball at age 20 when he is/was only a fastball pitcher helped him at all. He needed to work on his command and secondary stuff in the minors. If you tried to recreate the Castro/Osuna call ups 100 times, I bet a great majority of them would end up like Castro.
  22. I feel bad for Castro. Dude was rushed to the bigs for no reason and his development was killed because of it. I'd take a chance on him and start him in the minors, but this is his last option year right?
  23. Franklin grades out horribly at practically every position on defence. His bat would be nice to have around though.
